I'm through with "lurking"
BabyGotBack replied to Less-O-Me's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Less O Me!!!! I was also banded by Dr. Ortiz!!! I was banded on Jan. 5, 07. Can you tell me about yourself, any words of wisdom to the newly banded?? Come and join us on the Lower BMI thread if you'd like! Thanks! -
I have very affectionately named my band, Bandy!!! Anyone else want to name your band? Audree
-
Yeah, Bandy definitely doesn't like to eat at night. I have been sipping on a Myoplex, one is 17 oz and 310 calories, but I could only drink less than half. So, about 150 calories. It also has 43 grams of protien for one shake. Putting me at under 600 calories today. I am tired and will probably go to sleep early tonight!!! How are you doing?
-
Veronica, you are not alone! I was forced by my family to eat in secret also. They used to "watch" me eat, every bite of food that went in my mouth. So, I would grab food, make excuses to go into the kitchen sometimes, after I 'ate' and would take huge bites. I remember eating so much, my stomach felt like a black hole, that obviously my stomach couldn't take it and I would wake up vomitting. I have never heard of anyone else doing that. My mom had me on every diet as a young teen, OA and was even going to have me committed. I know I don't look so overweight now, in this stage in my life, but I HAVE BEEN THERE and then some!!! I still have gone through all the hell and the mental anguish. I still have 'mental' things to work out. A lot are worked out, but I still have a road ahead of me. This thread is like therapy for me. That is why I write so much. I don't think people understand that I have every right to be a bandster, as much as anyone (not you guys of course, but some have commented). I had to fight everyday to maintain at 190. Any slip and I was on my yo yo again. I was on my way up. And if it wasn't for Bandy (my band) coming into my life, I would have been up in the 200 range once again! I just caught it earlier this time and Bandy is helping me put a stop to it once and for all!!!

Thanks Claudia!!! You can give us some tips since you are ahead of us by a month! Thanks for the encouragement!:clap2:

I am happy to hear you came through so well! I did the same yesterday, with the liquids. I felt sick to my stomach. I felt like I was going to PB. I have heard you should only take 1/2 to 1 cup, depending on your restriction, at a time and go sssslllllloooowwwww. Put the spoon down between bites, chew 30 times. It helped me a lot to do that today.
-
Hi! How are you doing?
-
Really!!!! I was banded that day too!!! How are you doing? What kinds of liquids are you eating? This is post op day 11 for me and I have 11 days to go to have any solids/mushies!! Tell us about yourself!:clap2:
-
The surgery part was the easiest part! Don't worry, you will be fine!!! You will be surprised when you wake up how easy it really was. I couldn't sleep the night before either. Some people get a sleeping aid from their doctor. One that won't have any side effects with the meds and anesthesia. Let us know how you are doing!!!!

I bought some Myoplex Original ready to drink chocolate fudge shakes. I was pleasantly surprised. They are really good. One shake is 17 ounces, so I have been sipping on it for about 1/2 hour. I think I may drink half and save the rest for later or tomorrow. One has 43 g. of protein, 7 g fat and 310 calories. I have only had about 400 calories today, so I am going to try to finish it by the end of the evening. I get restricted again at night for some reason. Soy milk also tastes really good! You should try a mini Silk Vanilla Soy.
-
Yeah, I was a lot more careful with my portions and the water rules! I am sipping on a Myoplex Ready to drink shake. It is quite good. Not to chocolaty and not proteiny tasting. My calories were really low today, about maybe 500 or so, so far. I just don't want to get sick again. Audree

WOW!!!! What type of preop did you have?? My starting weight was 185, surgery was postponed and I gained 5 pounds over Christmas putting me at 190, so my pre op only brought me down to 186. I lost no weight pre op, but gained!!!!:faint: I think that is one of the reasons I don't want to weigh myself. I see all of you guys lost most of the weight pre op and I gained. So, I am afraid when I weigh, I wouldn't have lost more than a few pounds!!!! I am post op day 11. What kinds of eating plan are you following???
-
I feel soooo much better today!! How are you doing!!!
-
I AM SOOOOOO relieved that I am not the only one!!! I thought you guys were going to think I was nuts:faint: My Bandy is my new best friend too!!! :laugh :laugh :laugh :laugh :laugh :laugh :laugh

Yeah, I forgot about those. In my family, people have diabetes, heat diesese, my grandfather died of heart attack at 50, obesity, high blood pressure. This is also the lowest I have weighed, but had to struggle to stay at 190. I don't look what I weigh (at least I have been told). I was also stretching my arms up that made me look thinner.
-
Exactly! Other countries do it as preventative, but I did have to document years of yo yo dieting, 21 years to be exact. I also have weighed 240 a few times and was on my way back up. The reason it looks like I have such a small waist and stomach, is because I had a tummy tuck/lipo done a coupld of years ago. The only problem with that, is the fat doesn't come back there, it was redistributed to my hips, thighs and butt!!!!! My butt was becoming a shelf!!! HEHE

Hi Sara!!! I am glad to hear you are doing so well!!! I am post op day 11 and feeling great! It is so funny how all the doctors are so different, especailly post op. I was told to have liquids for 3 weeks so the stomach could heal, avoiding the stomach churning when digesting chucnks. :welcome2:
-
WOW, I didn't even know they had something like that. As long as it can go through a straw, we can have it! If it is the creamy one, you can!!
-
I think the type of liquid vitamins we are taking are a lot better than chewable childrens. But, if that is all someone can take, I guess it is better than nothing.
-
I just wanted to tell you about these liquid vitamins I get from Sams Club. If you do a search you can find them online too, better than chewable Flinstones.
