    My Life as a Bandster

    I am feeling great!!! No pain no discomfort!!! The first 3 days were the worst, but still not bad. The gas pains were the worse thing. Just make sure you have as much of a variety at hand, shakes, V8, creamy soups, etc!!!

    South Beach Diet Bandsters???

    SAMPLE MENUS: :hungry: Menu 1 Breakfast: omelet, lf cheese, veggie of choice stirfryed 2 slices of canadian bacon/turkey bacon spray butter or spray olive oil Salsa or hot sauce coffee or tea, lf milk, splenda Snack: String cheese or cheese stick Lunch: salad,veggies, cheese, olives, dressing or Tuna salad with Real Mayo, onion, tomato Snack: 15 cashews or almonds Dinner: Stir fryed veggies with chicken or beef with refried Beans salad with any trimmings from the list Evening Snack (if needed): sugar free Jello Sugar Free Fudgesicle Low fat ricotta Desserts (I bake mine; pureed ricotta cheese, a little milk, vanilla/almond/lemon/sugar free pudding or jello) then I put it to cool in the fridge. I also like it for a quick to go Breakfast. VERY FILLING!!! Ricotta Dessert Tips: Use a blender/magic bullet, blend 2 to 1 (1 cup ricotta to 1/2 cup cottage cheese, vanilla, splenda, milk, can add sugar free instant pudding or any flavor, and 1 egg; bake at 325 degrees for 15-20 minutes! Put to cool in fridge! :hungry: Menu 2 Breakfast: scrambled eggs and cold cuts/low fat sausage/Morning Star Sausage Snack: yogurt (with Splenda) Lunch: A lettuce leaf with cream cheese or mayo smeared on it, cold cuts, and cheese slices, rolled up Snack: 30 pistachio nuts Dinner: Salmon, veggies/salad Snack: Sugar Free Fudgesicle :hungry: Menu 3 Breakfast: Eggs and Soyrizo (look in soy aisle or health food store. Like chorizo, but made with soy and DELICOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Snack: 1 Tbsp. Peanut Butter Lunch: Lentil and beef stew with veggies Snack: Tomato salad with onions, mozerella cheese and balsamic vinegrette dressing (also makes a nice lunch) Dinner: London Broil with salad/veggies Snack: yogurt :hungry: Menu 4 Breakfast: eggs over easy (I sometimes steam mine in tomato sauce and they absorb the tomoto flavor-GOOD!!!!) Snack: celery with cream cheese Lunch: 99% fat free chili beans/ homemade chili beans or black beans topped with cheese Snack: cold cuts with cheese Dinner: Eggplant lasagne (slice thinly, dip in egg whites and sautee in spray butter), low sugar spaghetti sauce, cheese, bell peppers and bake) Snack: 1 tbsp. of sugar free peanut butter :hungry: Menu 5 Breakfast: Egg Fritata and cheese/veggies Snack: Turkey meat roll up Lunch: Greek salad, olives, feta, tomatoes, onions, dressing Snack: Cheese Dinner: Chicken with balsamic dressing/salad/veggies Snack:ricotta dessert (you can use key lime sugar free jello) :hungry: Menu 6 Breakfast: Western egg omelet, green chilis, low fat sausage Snack: Hummus Lunch: Ceviche; crab meat, shrimp, onions, tomato, cilantro, V8 or spicy clamato Snack: yogurt Dinner: Poached Salmon Snack: baked ricotta cheese dessert :hungry: Menu 7 Breakfast: veggie Quiche ( with items from phase 1) Snack: cottage cheese Lunch: tuna salad Snack: hummus/laughing cow cheese Dinner: Grilled Mahi Mahi/ roasted eggplant/ oriental cabbage salad :hungry: :hungry: :hungry: :hungry: Extra Lunch/Dinner Ideas: Grilled chicken salad; cobb salad with boiled eggs/real bacon bits/cheese/olives; grilled salmon; lean ground meat with olives or veggies; grilled sirloin hamburger patty with cheese, mayo, mustard wrapped in lettuce; garbanzo salad; lean ground meat with pinto beans, lf sour cream, salsa and cheese

    The week before I had a pre op diet of a protein shake for breakfast and a Lean Cuisine for lunch and dinner. But, before my pre op diet, I was on the official UN DIET!!!!!

    January Bandsters???

    I am doing really good! I am between 800-1000 calories still. I did go out and buy some crab cakes, eggs, cottage cheese, angus beef hamburger patties, terriyaki chicken, cod and orange roughy. Mushrooms to stir fry, onions. I am still going to plan out my menus, but that was a start!!! They are soooo used to me being on a million diets, they don't even notice really. This time I am on a "fast". I am always doing detoxes, etc. so my "secret" is safe!! I almost want to weigh myself!!! Maybe tomorrow!!!

    Check it out on my journal! It was probably the least restrictive diet I have ever done. My husband loved eating the food and my kids and they were not on diets! The food choices are just making better choices. No food group including sweets is left out! There are even cheese cake recipess!!!

    Welcome!!! You are lucky!! I had liquids for 3 weeks! I can barely have solids/mushies till Saturday!!! Drinking lots of liquids very frequently helped me stay satisfied.

    I bought Nectar Protein drinks from bariatriceating.com They taste fruity, but they have so many more options you can look at. The Fuzzy Navel tastes like Tang!!!

    You can check it out on ganoexcel.com I actually was buying it from a friend who would go get it at the warehouse in Irwindale, CA. To make things easier on myself since she couldn't always get me my product, I asked for an autoship option to send it to my house. I signed up as a rep. but just to get the discount for myself. I haven't sold it to anyone before.

    They give you a paper type underwear. My surgeon did not do the surgury between my legs as I hear is for some. I was in a gurney, strapped down for my safety. One doctor on one side and the other doctor on the other side. THANK GOD!!!! Cuz I wouldn't have liked being spread eagle and passed out!!!

    I don't drink regular coffee. I drink Gano coffee which is supposed to have less caffiene than decaf. It is made from Ganoderma Luciderm which comes from the Reishi Mushroom. Sounds weird, but tastes really good!

    Post Op day 19!!!

    YIIIPPPPEEEE!!!! I am almost to solids!!!! Day 22 is almost here!!! I am feeling really good and feeling thinner! I have found out why Dr. Ortiz does not have a mushy stage and it is as I suspected. You can get a lot of calories in during the mushy stage and gain back weight. So, he cut out that stage. 3 weeks on liquids is enought time for the stomach to heal and you just go straight to solilds!!! Makes sense to me! I have heard of some people pureeing tamales, enchiladas, mole, very fattening food and then wondering why they are gaining???? Well, that is why I have this handy dandy journal to keep myself in check!!! As well as my Lower BMI and January thread sisters! I took a QuickSlim30 this morning and let's just say it is really doing what it says it does. I am not hungry at ALL and have no desire to eat AT ALL! I have no more restriction and am going to use it as a "tool" to get me through until my first fill where I hopefully get some restriction. I am also starting the South Beach Diet on day 22 and starting a challenge on the Lower BMI thread. This is what I ate today: Breakfast: 1 Gano Mocha Coffe and 1 cup Silk vanilla soy milk, 1 Carnation Good Start Breakfast: 340 calories, 11 grams protein **** I find that when my breakfast is a little higher in calories, I am not as hungry in the evening. Lunch: 1 can of V8; 70 calories, 33 grams of protein (My 2 daughters are vomitting so I was advised to eat light,just in case) Dinner: Pureed chili, 1 cup; 400 calories, Total calories: 810 Supplements: 1 tbsp. Glacial Milk liquid vitamins, 1 Quick Slim 30 Liquids: 24 ounces crystal light, 20 ounces crystal light. Mood/energy: I feel really good, hopeful and happy. I also have no hunger. I wasn't really hungry today. I am still keeping to the 1 cup of pureed soup even if I don't feel restriction between bites. I do feel full after I am done though. I am gearing up for the South Beach Diet on Saturday. I bought crab cakes, angus beef patties, teriyaki chicken, cod, orange roughy, shrimp, mushrooms. I am going to write up some menus. I just need to get my butt moving and do exercise!!!
