  1. I have a Magic Bullet and use it all the time (even prior to surgery). I'm not quite to mushy food yet (just a few more days!) but I add unflavored Protein powder to absolutely everything. The Magic Bullet is great because the cups can go in the microwave, dishwasher, etc. No ideas for mushies but anxious to see other replies.
  2. I got my band on 12/22 and as of today I'm down six pounds since surgery. I started my pre-op diet in July and I'm down thirty-five pounds total since then. Honestly, I've read such a wide variety of weight loss responses on here that I'm not too worried about it (I wasn't going to weigh at all, but my doctor told me he wanted me to weigh every morning). It seems that some people come out of the hospital with extra weight from fluids while others come out weighing less. My doctor told me to shoot for 1,000 calories a day with 50 grams of Protein, plus 45 minutes of exercise a day with a heart rate of 120. I figure as long as I'm following what he says, I'm happy. I'm not as concerned with how fast the weight comes off, but that it comes off and stays off. Don't sweat it, follow what your doc says, and call him if you have any questions.
  3. Down five pounds since surgery, thirty-five pounds since July. Woot!

  4. We're band-buddies! I was banded on the same day. I'm to the "itchy" phase as they removed all my staples prior to leaving the hospital. I was able to start full liquids today (my Christmas present to myself) and enjoyed something other than broth for a change. I am feeling like I'm not getting enough protein and tried the Protein Bullet today. It was quite gross but at least I got my protein in for the day without drinking tons of shakes. Is anyone else having back pain? I've felt like I need to go to the chiropractor ever since surgery, but know it will be a while before that's going to happen. I'm glad everyone seems to be doing well and hope everyone continues to have a happy holiday season!
  5. Got my band today and should be realeased from the hospital tomorrow. I live three hours away so he wanted to keep me on night for observation. I will have to make the drive back up here in ten days for staple removal, and the hospital had me shower already this evening. I do have the typical pain in my shoulder but I've been up and walking a lot. As far as pain goes, I've been describing it as feeling as if you have done about 100 crunches more than you should have. I must say this is an exciing new adventure in my life!
  6. Going for pre-op tomorrow. Woot!!!

  7. Hey y'all! I go in tomorrow for my pre-op and then get "banned" on December 22. I teach so I don't have to worry about being back at work until January 3. My surgery is being done by Dr. Warnock in Wichita Falls (a three-hour drive, one way). I'm nervous and excited! My heaviest point was in July at 231 and as of today I am down to 201. My goal is to be around 125 (I'm 5'1"). Having surgery because of multiple reasons, the most important one being healthy for my five-year-old daughter; also, while I'm overall very healthy, that cholesterol was starting to creep up and there is a history of heart disease in the family. I've fought my weight all my life and finally decided I needed the band to help me continue the fight. Looking forward to keeping up with my fellow December lap-banders! Feel free to email me.
  8. I downloaded the LiveStrong app and I really like it! It seems to do everything that I need as far as diet and fitness. Thanks! Sherry
