From what I've heard it is normal to have bad pain from overeating. But I've asked my doctor so we'll see what he says.

Momoftwo, we wish you a fast recovery and our thoughts and prayers are with you. I am sure you won't have any regrets once healed, and will be onto a great, new life, with energy to play with your kids. I, myself, am schedule to the have the new Sleeve Plication, it is like the one you had, but without cutting and staples and no partial stomach removal-all of the stomach stays, room for food is smaller like regular sleeve. Just folding the stomach in on itself and sewing. Same great results as regular sleeve. If anyone wants to know more about it, just search for PLICATION in this forum, and you find experiences of other people that have it it and great doctor info for any sleeve procedure. Thanks for the update, Melli. Yes, I think more people need to know about the fiberious fresh veggies might cause pain. From what I've heard, most people can eat anything they want in tiny portions once healed, but it can vary. However, I had my nurse consult with Dr. Watkins nurse and she mentioned to me that things like oranges, pinapple, asperagus, fiberious veg/fruits could cause really bad pain-I didn't know it would be for 24 hours-OUCH! I am sorry you had to go through that. She also mentioned that another thing that new patient might run into is going out with friends while eating.. you are eating, they ask a question, you swallow to answer to quickly....(and forget to chew throughly..pain!) I am sure it will get better, but all of that is good to know. Do you stay full till the next meal?

I wish my sugery was sooner! Mine is scheduled for Oct 13th. You'll be able to find AWESOME info and how well others are doing if you just do a search for PLICATION in the search box and read all the thread. It is SO fabulous that this surgery has made available to us now! None of the other ones felt right with me, but this I am 100% on board!

I think you need to find out if you are getting Plication or Gastric Sleeve. There are no staples with Plication only sutures.

Thanks KB, I am planning my surgery soon, and will take your advice the 3 day stay. I was wondering about how long to stay after surgery. Great advice about the whole process!

I am going to get my physical today so I can move ahead to call tomorrow and set a surgery date!!

Hello, QUESTION FOR EVERYONE WHO HAS HAD PLICATION... how does liquids go down for you and what stage are you at? Wondering if they go straight through (like can you drink a cup of coffee in 5 minutes if it isn't to hot?) Is there such a thing as "guzzling" down a drink or will it be slow sipping from here on out? Thanks for all your feedback and replies. My goal is to make a decision and schedule surgery for Sept/Oct. Trying to think of everything else to ask. Anyone want to get me any more info on the day/life of a plication (GPS) patient? Looking for good & bad info.. We know it isn't really "bad" necessarily, just something to consider in the grand scheme of things. Also, ladies, does any incensions show if you were a low cut top or is it all along the bra line? I live in a vacation area, and just need to prepare myself..

Maybe look into taking Biotin supplements for hair and skin? That is what I am doing to hopefully minimal hair loss before I take the plunge.

That is great! I keep wondering if I will feel bad only being able to eat about a cup a time..but then I think NO ONE can eat without limits. There is always a stopping point. The food will always be there tomorrow. You can eat it all and still be thin-it might just be over a long period of time. ; ) Was it Ben Franklin who said "Eat to live dont live to eat." I wish I didnt think about food so much. My husband wishes he didnt have to "waste time eating". Of course he is thin and eats whatever he want, which is Never low fat or diet anything! Seems to be this surgery is about the best one can get if they arent naturally skinny-still getting to eat good food but in small portions. I've been really trying to "stop when I can feel full." But then I am hungry an hr later. I can also eat alot! That will hold me, but I think Ill be forever fat. I think whatever it takes to hold me is still too much for my wimpy metabolism. You have made the decision to be thinner and healthier for the rest of your life!

Hi Everyone that has had Plication or does this surgery, this is probably a DUH-stupid question, but I feel the need to ask it anyway. Do any of you still have the shakey, hunger that feels like low blood sugar? Or is that what supressing the Ghrelin hormone does, keeps you full a whole lot longer due to size of small size of stomach-so you don't get the "low blood sugar feeling"? I find that I have a few types of hunger/cravings. There are "cravings" because one might be bored, happy, sad, tempted, or just flat out want to have something-trying to work on these : ) and have come a long way. Then there is HUNGER. It could be a growling stomach, it could be that famished feeling like you could eat 6 tacos, then there could be the weak, shaky hunger, when you've ignored your hunger for too long. I found when I was on Phentermine, it blocked that shakey, low blood sugar hunger, where as normally I couldn't go more than a few hours without atleast a snack. Dr. Watkins is about the same amount and he is always there you for followup and questions and is a part of the USA trial in OH. I haven't had the surgery but he is the one I am looking closely at. I will also be tuning into Dr. Corvala's webinar on the 20th. I continue to research and learn.
