    What can I do?

I think you need to go back and have it fixed so you can keep water down.
  2. Yay for you. You're looking great!
  3. Hi Sweetbriar, Sounds like you're from Texas. I am too and had the same schedule to progress to regular food. My first fill is August 19th (I had my surgery July 30th). I hope that's not too soon. Concerning protein shakes, I found Nectar at bariatricpantry.com for cheaper than other places and it's really good. You can order a sample pack to try the flavors. Also the Alpine Punch RTD in Isopure is good - get it very cold. I was surprised to read your doc said 30 g of protein/day. Everyone I have seen or talked to say 60-70g per day. Check that out. BTW I'm just now feeling better about breathing deeply and still have some gas in the shoulder, too. Good luck!
  4. Hey Small Christie! Glad you joined! You will feel better day by day and good for you taking the time. You deserve it. Walking helps the gas thing; and if you feel a burp or hiney burp let 'er rip - it helps, too! I know that's not very lady like, but that gas sucks!
  5. I haven't smoked, but I'm serious thinking about purchasing a "mechanical" cigarette I heard about. Go look at it: Blu.com. You can get inserts with nicotine at various levels, but none of the tar and other crap they put in cigarettes. Could be an alternative. . .but quitting for good would be better.
  6. In the search on the home page type in ticker tutorial. There is a step by step there.
  7. I feel your pain - no DCoke, cigarettes, popcorn forever. But I've already found the food thing will be ok. I tried a change with the chocolate that was scrumptious and wanted to share w/ you. In a blender put 6oz. of skim milk or lite soy vanilla milk, about 1/3 cup lite vanilla yogurt. Add the scoop of chocolate Protein Powder (I used Nectar) and 1 teaspoon of reduced cal Peanut Butter. Mix and puree. It's so good!! As far as the turning over in bed, I was afraid of that too. I will sleep on my back and right side, but prop a pillow under me. I don't think you'll hurt anything, but I'd move slowly anyway. It's natural to want to protect that area.
  8. I have that weird taste. too. I wonder if not protein if it's still the gas/anesthesia working it's way out. . .my throat still hurts, too! Other than that, I'm beginning to feel more like myself. I was banded July 30th. I guess my doctor progresses to real food quicker. Tomorrow is day 11 and I'm going to mechicanical soft foods. Tuna, lean ground meat. . .
  9. OMG! I am so sorry this happened. I would definitely file a public complaint on the people that treated you this way! I hope all is well with you in the cardiac dept. (and everything else, too!)
  10. I was banded July 30th; tomorrow will be 1 week. Surgery was over with before I knew it, after it actually began. I was to be at the hospital at 10 and surgery would begin at high noon. At this point, I was going through the motions, as just a few days before I was ready to bolt. Shortly after 10 I was called, and when we got to my room in the day surgery area, I was instructed to don the lovely gown. The nurse also brought cute socks and warm blankets. A little later my IV was started. Then I was told the doctor would be late due to an emergency. I didn't need to hear that! After an hour or so the doctor popped in to tell me we were about to get started AND the emergency wasn't his patient; he just helped another doc. Then just as my soap opera came on the anesthesiologist came in and gave me a shot in my stomach and happy meds in my IV. The nurse then put the leg massagers on. I thought I needed a pair of those at home! Next thing I knew we were headed to the OR. I briefly remember being rolled in and that's it. Lights out! Some time later I woke up back in my room. I was fed ice chips that tasted wonderful and just laid there very still. I was afraid to look at my wounds. After checking on me a few times, they were ready to get me up to leave. I finally managed to dress and crawl into the wheel chair to be wheeled to the pickup area. I really didn't feel too bad at all. Hubby helped me in the car and we drove home. I went to bed upon arrival. I've taken some pain medicine since, but not much, and I'm drinking my protein. It's day 6 and I'm graduating to pureed, "baby" food. The gas pain is a little irritating and breathing deeply is a little uncomfortable, but overall it's okay. I look at the picture of my band to remember it's in there, and I'm also rereading all the rules, etc. to stay on track. Good luck as you begin your journey. . .
  11. Ok - put all that behind you. I had a pre-op diet, but it wasn't too bad at all. I could have 2 servings of egg, whole wheat bread, low-fat yogurt, fruit one time/day. Then 2 Protein Shakes. Then 4 oz of baked chicken and 1 serving of a green veggie. I know that was a very generous pre-op diet. Others I know were on straight liquid for 2 weeks prior (5 Protein shakes per day). You could supplement SF popcicles, SF Jello and that helps! Hang in there and do the diet so your surgery will be safe.
  12. OMG - I ate restaurant tomato soup tonight! I hope I don't experience anything painful. It was SO good, though. Also, have any of you visited mybariatricpantry.com? They have really good prices on protein and so specials. Some of the Nectar is really good and the Isopure.
  13. I think the bad taste must be Protein. And yes, I burp at both ends. I don't care; if that gets the gas out it's a great thing!
  14. I have to laugh at some of these posts - the funny way you guys are expressing yourselves! yes, I laugh and it kinda hurts, but it's great! This blog is really a lifesaver.
  15. Hey Nikki My surgery was on July 30th as well and I'm moving on to liquidy soft foods. Taking deep breaths is what is getting me and I feel like I have a catch in my back. I'm sure that's gas. ugh.
  16. I did the same thing! A week before my surgery date, I almost decided to not do it. I had already lost about 20 pounds and started thinking I could just do it myself without going through this major change. Of course, that's ridiculous; I've certainly said that before! Luckily my banded friend told me how crazy I was. Long story short - I did it last Friday. It's done before you know it. I would say that right now focus on preparing yourself mentally for your life after the band and review what you must do to make it work as a weight loss tool for you. It will be great!
  17. I cheated a little - very little. I actually had about 7 chips and hot sauce at a mexican food restaurant. I ate about 4 oz of baked Tilipia and some charro beans. It was still basically low fat; just don't eat after midnight before your surgery!

    Omg

I will be banded on July 30th. I feel hesitant, but I'm going for it, remembering my initial reasons for wanting to do this. A little about me...I am a 53 year old school teacher in Texas. I have been overweight/concerned about weight most of my life. I have been semi-successful two times losing weight on my own, but I never reached the goal. I really hope this surgery will help me stay on track to finally reach a healthy goal weight - one in which I feel satisfied and confident about the way I look and feel.

I've been reading and yes, it seems like a roller coaster of emotions afterwards. Even now, I feel like I understood during my meetings, but I'm now confused about what to eat/what to buy...blah,blah. It seems like everything is bad in some way??? I have kind of been thinking it's like a crazy craving afterwards; like the new vampires in the Eclipse movie. I know I'll get through it, though. This site will surely help! How do you get the ticker thingys?

Thanks, Carol. That encouragement is what I needed.
  21. Did you finally have the lapband?

  22. vbaldwin

    Any July Bandsters??

I'm set for July 30th. OMG! How did it go for you?
  23. vbaldwin

    Very pissed Off!!!!!

Just do what you feel you need to do. You can't change what others think and do; it just can't be done know matter how you reason about this. How is it going now?
