  1. Just curious who's out there!

    Anyone from Western NC??

I am in almost as far west as you can get. Franklin. No I haven't been banded yet. I basically have my first appointment with the "team" on the 30th. I've done all the pre- stuff. But they make you go through 4-6 months of appointments etc etc. You?
  3. Hiya! I am from Western NC and I saw that you posted on my thread! How are you? Have you been banded or are you a newbie like me??

    Anyone from Western NC??

Hiya Mamamary..sorry I am just seeing this! I forgot to look because no one was posting! A fellow NCer! Yay!
  5. I don't have much advice to add as I am not banded yet, however I keep reading that a lot of people have issues with gas pains. Especially after surgery. Is it possible for your to try the gas-x strips? See if that helps. Also don't try and eat yogurt if it causes pain. Stick with broth and Protein shakes. Sorry you are miserable. Best of luck for the future though!
  6. I see from your thread that you are about to start puree's! Yucko. I agree with you whole heartdly on that front! I'd rather eat broth then try and blend fish. I love to cook so let me know if you are looking for some yummy soup recipes to try!

    Running! Fabulous!

I am alright! Anxious to get the show on the road!

  7. Thought I would check in with you and see how you are feeling!?

    Made my first goal!

way to go!! Continued success!
  9. In thinking, planning, talking...were you worried about failure? Worried that this too will not work for you? I know this is a tool and I feel fairly confident that I can make the changes and use it to my benefit. But I still have the underlying worry that this too shall fail. Almost nothing could talk me out of this procedure. I find myself thinking about it all the time. Not with worry about the actual surgery but with how I am going to look, and feel, and be after. I am sure that most of you have had the same thought processes so I guess it is normal. But what got you through? Man, is it fantastic to have this site for support.

    failure...were you worried??

I feel the same as you most of the time! This will work! I know it..and I am human just as long as I don't go over board! Everything in moderation! :cursing: Good luck!
  11. I have really enjoyed reading this! Thank you so much for sharing! Can't wait to read your blog too...(that is if it is posted in your profile) Continued success for the rest of your life! ps..reading your blog! I collect mermaids too!

    Banded today all by myself!!!

Good for you! And I wouldn't feel a bit guilty! Just don't foret to ask for help when you need it and know that you aren't alone when you have a good group like this behind ya!

    failure...were you worried??

The whole money thing is on my mind too! But I guess what I hope is that in the long run much less will have to be spent because I will be healthier. No one makes me feel guilty about the cost. Def. not my husband. But I make myself feel guilty. But not enough to deter from this surgery!

    failure...were you worried??

MiMi: I agree with you I think. My thoughts in the research is that everything in moderation. However, everyone is different with what they can handle. So people can't drink beer...or soda. Some peeps can! I personally don't struggle with the sweet stuff. It is more quantity related for me. Which I think will be good for me with the band. Why is your Dr. against unfills? Sundi: Being patient. I struggle with this myself. But I agree, I do not want to be on a "diet" for the rest of my life! Kosy..I really like that. I think I will use it! For everyone else..I am thrilled to not feel alone in this journey. I have fabulous family and friends. I have a fantastic life. But I am seriously the only over weight person in my day to day life. Therefore I do feel alone when I am talking about lapband and weight issues. It is really nice to have people make such thoughtful comments. So thanks!
  15. Thanks Mimi. One of the things I would love to do after I lose weight is redo my wedding pictures. Nothing can replace that day to me but I would love to have felt better about myself.

  16. Well I am really really pre op. But I am doing pretty well. I am anxious to get the show on the road but I also am okay with going through the steps. I just hope these 4 months go by quick!

  17. Good!! Continued success! :)

  18. You look fantastic! Thanks for sharing your success!!

    failure...were you worried??

Mimilou~ You have been so successful! Congrats on the 17 weeks too! Did your weight go up at all during your two years post op? I mean a few lbs here and there but 10+? It does make a difference to have support from here I think! BandNewMe~ Thanks for your vote of confidence! Do you think that because we are concerned with being successful it will help us to become successful? Always being aware?? I hope so. Best of luck to you! You'll be fine! Mind if I keep up with you a little to hear about your successes?

    Social Life Post Op

I worry about this too! I love to entertain and cook. But not only that but one big social thing to do with my friends is dinner and drinks! I'd hate that I think that this will completly change! I have found hope by reading some "bandsters" blogs that I will learn what I can and can't do...but that I can still go out and enjoy..just not over-enjoy! I hope this is the case for me!
  21. I have heard finding a hernia is pretty common! How are you feeling today??

  22. Just wanted to tell you that somewhere on this website I found your blog! I am totally inspired and awed by what you have accomplished and your words! I can only hope that I have the same experiences you have. With your permission I would like to share your blog with my mother, sister, and best friend. They are the three (beyond my husband) that I am sharing this journey with thus far. I really feel like your words will help them understand not only what I will be going through but how it might affect them as well. PLUS..I am such a foodie and I am digging your posts on the Supper Clubs! Thanks..really..I am so excited!

  23. I use the same $9.99 hand blender to make Soups all the time (and froth milk for a latte) and it works well! p.s. I had a magic bullet. Got it as a wedding gift. I am a kitchen gadget fan but I did not like it very much at all! I gave it away as i never used it!
  24. I've done the seminar and my first appointment and now i have an appointment with the RN's and Dr's on the 30th of this month! So I am pretty close to where you are! I am also worried because I am borderline...I feel like I will get through but it is really my only concern! I've done loads of research and I am ready for this journey! I'm 31, no kids, and really excited about actually being in control for more then 4-5 months at a time! I am done with working so hard, seeing results, and then failing again!! Here's to us!
  25. just wanted to say good luck! We are the same age so I will be interested in how you are doing and what you think of the whole process! I have my first Dr. appointment Aug 30th! My name is Amanda, BTW.
