    For new bandsters!!!

Thanks for the great post!!! I was banded on 8/26 and reading it helps to keep me focused. I did notice I started missing "real" food yesterday and i am on fluids for a couple more weeks--I will do it though:thumbup:When I get down I will remember what you wrote--wish I could save it permanently somewhere.........

    just took some meds...

having to cut up all my pills too--like vitamins, BP meds. etc. I think I will try the warm liquid idea:smile2:

    Starving

make sure you are getting enough protein!! Before my surgery they had me on full fluids with protein shakes being my main meals. I typically got at least 70 grams of protein for the day and usually over 90 grams and felt fine...good luck:redface:
  5. HI Zen, doing ok here. On protein shakes, sugar free liquids, broth, sugarfree jello/posicles. Gas pain is getting much better. Have some port pain and a bit of incisional pain. Do you know which incision is the port?I noticed yesterday and today I am missing "real" food--I can't go on to mushies until week four:( I have lost 11 pounds since surgery-but four of that was probably IV fluids and gas so really like seven which is great for one week. My back is bothering me and still take pain meds right before bed. Have a nice labor day weekend--lynda

  6. i have been having the same problem. since we were done the same day we "bathroom buddies" this problem however is overshadowed by the gas pain:cursing: but we will get through it:smile: i will read later to see if anyone posts an idea for your/my little problem:)
  7. hi Zen...thanks for checkin in. Surgery went well. Everything is good except for the GAS PAIN!!! Last night I thought I was gonna die it was so bad. Glad I have my strong meds. for pain and my handy heating pad. I am getting my liquids and protein in. hope all is still good with you:)

  8. hi:) thanks for checking in. I am doing ok. The only negative so far is the GAS!! It can really hurt at times. My incisions are fine and I feel good except for the gas and a bit of a backache. Hope you are doing well.....

  9. :thumbup:got banded thursday and got home yesterday (friday) The worst pain I have had was a -6- on a scale of zero to ten. I think it was gas pain. I do seem to stiffen up by morning. Hubby helps me out of bed. I am careful not to bend over or pick anything up. No nausea. I was given 2 heparin shots, pre-op antibiotics, post op antibiotics, pain meds, nausea meds and I bought gas X. I have not "felt" hungry and have been getting 100 grams protein and at least 64 oz. fluids each day. I was prepared for the worst and things went good. Getting up and moving around helps. good luck to you all:)

    I'm Back!!!

I am back too!!!! everything went good. I do have some gas pain, but was prepared for much worse. glad yours went well. take care:smile:
  11. My admission time is 10:30 a.m.--better get to bed!! Took my shower with antibacterial soap and do it again in the a.m. Stopped all fluids before midnight. Not too nervous. Mostly nervous about "after" the surgery. Hopefully I will be in bandster heaven not bandster hell:cursing: Good luck to the rest of you:smile:
  12. My surgeon had me get a transderm scop patch that I put on the night before surgery. It is supposed to last 3 days. Also there are nausea meds. One that is a dissolving one is called Zofran. Some people get nausea from the operation and some get it from the pain meds. Good luck:smile:
  13. hi Zen, thanks for your thoughts:) I will thinking of you too. I am fairly calm. I go Wednesday a.m. for preop visit with surgeon and anesthesiologist and nurses. We are almost there!!

    August rush 2010!!!

best wishes to all who get their band this week:smile: My day is the 26th -Thursday....not too nervous. This site REALLY helps.
  15. hi...I stressed every step of the way. Even though I have a comorbidity and called my insurance company a "few" times!! I was anxious before the psych. eval. which went just fine. they wanna make sure you know what you are in for and that you are ready to change. My most anxious day was seeing the surgeon the first time. Actually until I got a surgery date I was not as ease about believing it could really happen. Well, it is this Thursday:scared2: You may even have doubts at times--I did. I hear that can happen. I am ready though. Good luck:)
  16. :cursing:darn!! I am on the 26th too. As much as it sucks to wait I think being as sick as you have been , it would be wise. I had a cold about a week ago but never any fever and never developed a cough. Every once in a while I have a little phlem and maybe by Thursday I won't even have that at all. I am definately at the very tail end of it so hopefully everything will go as scheduled. Get better soon:)

    O.M.G !! I am so STRESSED out!!

best wishes on your surgery:smile: Mine is on the 26th:scared2: I have been doing "ok" on my liquid diet, but then it has only been today so far! Tomorrow clear liquids and Wednesday clear until around ten p.m. I am nervous but looking forward to getting things going. You will be over the surgery hill soon!! take care

    My days 1 through 4.

    Only eat 3x/day???

eventually I was told to eat 4 oz. per meal 3x a day. With 3 oz. being protein and 1 oz. being vegetable or fruit or occasional carb. I am also supposed to have two protein drinks per day as well. I am supposed to have high levels of protein --70-90gms/day which should help. I was told to drink 64 oz . of liquid (low cal.) and stop drinking 5 minutes before eating and WAIT one hour after eating to drink more fluids.
  20. getting my band on the 26th of August. Wondering if I can mix up a cup or two of protein drink and store in frige and then pour from that container every hour instead of having to mix up 4 oz. each hour.....
  21. hi all, I am coming in a little early for an easy question. Does anyone premix your protein drink --like a cup or two at a time? I would keep it in fridge and then just pour my 4 oz. per hour..what do you think??
  22. hope you are doing fine:smile: I too am getting mine soon--the 26th. best wishes and good thought going your way:)

    Never wake up...

:smile:hi, it's me ...wow that experience would be aweful! And frightening. I don't have any insight since this is my first operation. I am nervous and I am sure my nervousness will get worse over the next few days:scared2:Do you know about what time your surgery is yet? I check in at 11:00 a.m. I will be thinkin of ya--lynda
  24. my surgery is in a few days -the 26th and NOW my husband decides to get weird. His mother asked if was diabetic and I guess that made him think I don't need lap band. I do have hypertension and some sleep apnea and am definately obese. I am doing this for myself, I know that. I guess these people think I should wait until i am 20-30 # pounds heavier and have more health issues. I figure why wait?? He even had the nerve to say I could just excercise/eat less--duh:cursing: By the way I have been married to this dim wit for over 26 yrs. Yes, I am pissed off at him tonite! thanks for the place to vent:smile:
