Any Kansas City bandsters???????
PrairieDawn replied to ladykcusa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm glad the flight went well! Let me know if you need a home for those 20's and 22's! I could really use them! -
Today is two months for me too! Keep up the good work!

I'm still new to this too but it sounds like you have restriction! -
I agree with mamasugar, taking drastic measures maybe the motivation he needs. He will continue to drink as long as he can. He knows that he has support if he decides to get help. Now you need to take care of you and your children. You will be in my prayers.

I like that you tell your honest opinion. You are good at doing it without seeming bossy. Don't change! I understand telling everyone about Lap Band. If someone says something about my wieght lost, I fell obligated to tell them I had Lap Band. It's like I feel dishonest if I don't tell them.

Have you encouraged your husband to get help such as treatment? Addiction is not something that you can just stop without an intervention- we know that, we had to have weight loss surgery to work on our food addiction.

Sandra-
You have been very supportive in your comments! Please don't think otherwise. I appreciate your point of view and I agree with your strategy - you have to do what works for you! Thank you!

KS - congrats on the 5 lbs! That is great. I think I'm going to call the Dr. and get my 2nd fill moved up. I don't seem to have any restriction - heck, I can still guzzle drinks! I'm still losing though, but, it is due to willpower. That has never lasted for long though... -
Before I was banded, I ate lots of sweets, smoked 1/2 a pack per day, and drank 4-5 Diet Cokes per day. I 2 weeks before my surgery and I don't eat more that 30 carbs a day - I am doing fine with that. My problem you ask? I would do about anything...and yes, I mean anything!!!...for a Diet Coke. I have tried Diet Snapple, Powerade Zero, G@, VitaminWater, Minute Maid Pomegranite Tea, Minute Maid Light Lemonade - nothing satisfies my thirst like a cold DC! I WANT DIET COKE!!! I am begining to wonder if I really can live life without my Diet Coke. I am foghting my cravings but it is so hard since my surgeon never even explained why I cannot have one...help!

Thank you for your comments. I have not had a a DC since 7/26/10 and I do not intend to have one. I just needed to vent and be reminded that I need to follow the rules for a reason.

He is going to have to know sooner or later and it might be worse if you wait too long. If he is being open with you and finds out you are holding back a major thing then he might be hurt. Besides, if he can't understand then he is not the right guy for you anyways.

Why would band slippage be a concern? Sound like just an overfill. I hope your appt goes well!

Congrats on your band! I was banded on 7/28. The weight loss will come - just stay on track! If you are like me, you were steadily gaining to this point and you have put a stop to that! As far as fills go, I had first one last week. I am TERRIFIED of needles and it was fine! they did not numb me and it wasn't needed anyways. I told my husband that I didn't feel any pain - just weirdness. Kind of like when you go in for a Ob-Gyn appt or prenatal and they are pushing around your abdomen to feel your ovaries. That is the best I can come up with as a comparison.

Any Kansas City bandsters???????

Toto - That was the hardest part - my son wasn't walking yet so I had to rely on my husband or mom to pick him up for 3 weeks! I held him while sitting (on floor, chair, in bed, etc) since the day of surgery. I just always made sure to protect my port for any kicks. Dr. Kowalski (my surgeon who is Dr. Hoehn's partner) said that this issue is bending over and picking up things over 20 lbs. So I always squat to pick him up. I remember thinking it would be impossible to go for 3 weeks and not pick him up. It really wasn't - we could still snuggle and he finally learned to walk!! -

My fill went well! It did not hurt but it felt weird! I was glad to find out that my port is healing well - I was worried because I have a 14.5 month old son that I lug around. Dr. Kowalski put 4cc in my band. Is that a normal amount for a first fill? -

So excited! Today is my first fill! Any tips? -
Why is it that when you are feeling good and have a lot of hope that people kick you in the knees? My surgery was on 7/28 and I have lost 36lbs already! That is great! I ran into an old co-worker/friend today and in our conversation I shared with her that I had LAP-BAND® surgery. She of course immediately told me I should have opted for gastric bypass because the people she knows that have had LAP-BAND® were not successful... So I walk away from the conversation feeling panicked that I made the wrong choice and that I will not be successful. I can't seem to shake my doubts today... This blog really sounds pathetic but I needed to vent.

Hello! I live in Baldwin and work in Olathe. I was banded by Dr. Kowalski at SMMC on 7/28/10. I have lost 32 lbs so far and will be getting my first fill on 9/7/10. I am glad I found this thread! -

I'm in Kansas and I am having surgery at 10:00am on July 28th, too!!!! I am getting scared but there it no turning back! I am going to start off on the Wii Fit (step aerobics and boxing). I may need to look into the P90X though.
