    In Pain!

I walked alot and did windmills - I am almost a week out and the main sources of gas pain are gone now - although I have little ones here and there (like when I yawn). The trick is MOVING - move as much as you can.
  3. I have the same thing - THIN LIQUIDS - the judge is whether it could, in theory, be consumed through a straw (even though we are not allowed to drink from straws).... I like the Soup at Hand Tomato fits that bill - there is nothing in it and it is thin.
  4. Went in at 7am, home by 7pm.... Today is a little rough as I am struggling with the gas pains more than anything. REST OF MY LIFE...here I come!
  5. Hi - newly banded on Monday - had abdominal surgery before so knew what to expect with the gas pains - they have subsided substantially now - a few remain - but I notice when I yawn, I feel pain around my heart - the left side of my chest. Is this just gas pressure too? It's weird.
  6. Me too - I rotate between sleeping and walking around. I haven't felt hunger at all - but I am have been drinking water mixed with gatorade or protein water just to try to keep some calories coming in. Last night though my husband made me some cream of asparagus soup and I ate 1/4 of a cup and was absolutely thrilled. So sick of protein shake flavors...

My doc says we should be having 2 protein shakes per day in this period post op - but I have only been able to drink one per day - split into 3 pieces... oh well. All in all, it's good and I am happy ;)

  7. I feel very similar to what you are describing - I am off the pain meds now though and last night I actually slept most of the night comfortably. I still have an occassion sneaky gas pain and my belly button incision hurts a little - but all in all - I am happy to have done this!!

    I am banded!!!!!!

My tricks: having someone pat or hit my back or my lower abdomen, windmill my arms, walking around, doing modified side bends, gas x twice a day. Mine finally went away, day 2.
  9. I cried for 5 days of my 14 on liquid - but let me tell you something, I only have two incisions because my liver was so light - I didn't need all 5. It makes a great difference to stay on the diet as much as possible.

    I am banded!!!!!!

Everyone on here is so awesome! Day 2 and I am feeling great. Just had some awesome cream of aspargus Soup... I squashed the gas pains by walking around the house and by doing windmills with my arms (I know...weird). That was really the predominant pain I had and I only took the pain medication for the second day. Took some Gas X too. Seriously, the surgery was a breeze and everything went so smoothly. Those of you who are coming up on your date, don't stress out. I have had knee surgery and two c-sections - this was a WALK in the park compared. Really, agitating yourself will only make things harder. This is a gift. My surgeon was so awesome when he came to see me when I was getting ready for surgery. He said TODAY IS AN IMPORTANT DAY and I get to be there with you. I thought that was really cool - that he acknowledged how life changing this can be. And my husband wrote me a note yesterday telling me how brave I was to do something like this and take control of something about myself that I don't like. Here's to all of you - you're awesome and you can do it!:cursing:
  11. Hi Mo - I am doing better today than yesterday - you? This is the start of a great journey for us - can you feel it?

  12. How are you doing?

  13. Every single one of us feels this way.... hang in there!!! You will do great!
  14. Off to bed now - have to be up by 4:30am to make it into New York City for my 7am surgery.... so excited! Good luck to everyone!
  15. Honestly, I have no idea. I am on my last day of a 14 day liquid diet (protein shakes, broth, Jello and 2 cups of lettuce per day) - surgery is tomorrow. I have eaten a marshmallow, 5 potato chips, and a piece of bread - those are my list of cheats in the last 14 days (hardly worth cheating for) - but I have to tell you that I have skipped all temptation - I mean, it is only two weeks pre-op.... The kids and my husband go out to dinner, I have stayed home. People want to get together, my family goes there and I have stayed home. I don't expect to live my life like this - but this is a hard transition - and it is also not negotiable with my surgeon - so I tried to make it as easy as possible on myself. For the first week pre-op, my impression is that you don't really want to eat - and then we look forward to other things besides just Protein (seriously, I went to the supermarket and was so excited about buying tomato Soup, V8 and some diet snapple...pathetic). And then real food starts to come back....I know I can make it. So can you - I would limit the social stuff in pre-op if you struggle with it.
  16. Ok...just got the call....7am on Monday....I am so excited. I don't even feel nervous!!!! Everyone on these boards has been awesome and I wish everyone SO MUCH SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to log in next week and say I AM BANDED....
  17. Yes - we need these recommendations because neither one of those two things are on the NYU list. - a robe - slippers That was it :smile2:
  18. My understanding is that the lap band helps you lose weight and this in turn helps with weight induced reflux. BUT....I think there is a time period where a person is learning to eat where they may battle some reflux issues..
  19. Yes - mine was delayed just because I was on vacation. My longest wait was the period leading up to my surgical consult - everything else has been quick quick quick. As I said, the delay in my surgery date only had to do with my 3 week vacation. Insurance approval is the pain. But I think that when you have a good doctor and they are organized and submit well, this can be made easier too. I realized some time in the process that they are fighting WITH ME to get approval - it is how they make their living, no?
  20. You get a meal!!! That's awesome Low carb veggie basically means low sugar - so something like broccoli. Lean Protein is a close to fat free as you can get - lean lean turkey or chicken, fat free cottage cheese... or beans... I am dreaming of this meal of yours...I am on day 12 of 14 LIQUID ONLY.... GOOD LUCK!
  21. Obviously whatever you decide is okay. But I look at your age, you are 28.... I am 38 and I get banded on Monday... and I WISH TO GOD that I had done it at 28 instead of trying and failing for 10 years to lose weight. I lost 10 years of my life that I could have been healthier and happier with myself. I think that the vast majority of people who get the lap band probably have that little voice in the back of their head that says QUITTER...but come on... we are not quitting - we are brave and willing to do what it takes to ensure our success. My surgeon has a bunch of Q&As online and they are really good on this topic.... watch a couple!! 22. Get your friends to sign affidavits Come on...what is wrong with these insurance companies????
  23. My doctor in NY talked about this in the seminar and he said he does fills for anyone.
  24. Okay...4 more liquids days....we can do it... I am nervous but so excited... just seeing these first couple of pounds come off - it is majorly motivating. HOW ARE THE OTHER JULY 26ers DOING????
