Thanks everyone for the congrat.s I will be starting CNA classes on Jan. 20, they last 8 weeks, then you have to take a state test....and you get certified. I got a scholarship through the state that pays for everything, books, clothes, etc. Then if I'm lucky, I can work for a place that will work around schooling to become and LVN( licensed vocational nurse). That is if all goes according to plan. I love going to school, hope I never stop either! who knows, i might just become a RN! Still cold as hell here, and kinda drizzling the cloud coverage is so low. This time of year we usually get really bad fog "Tule fog" Some of the worst in the whole country. We haven't exactly gotten any yet, but the way the weather has been so far this year I expect we will. I can remember having to drive with the door open so we could follow the line on the side of the road....we literally could not see past the hood of our car! Well all for now....... ~Kelly~

Hi everyone, just checking in! I'm down another 3 pounds (that was about 5 days ago). That puts me at 50 pounds since day of surgery.Yeah! I have started to walk/jog and in the past week more jogging than walking. Keeping the same route, and doing it twice a day! It is very cold here, about 39 degrees, and no sun whatsoever. I start school in 12 days and am very excited, I will only be going on Fri.,Sat, and Sun. so I will be able to keep up my exercise program.... Well all for now, hope everyone is doing good! ~Kelly~

I'm not getting post-op support and I have questions
kellyodoran replied to leighmackelvey@comcast.net's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
mslove, beg to differ with you on the straw statement.....my Dr. had me on a straw-diet up until I got my first fill, also protien is important from the get go....80 grams a day....by the way peeps, it also helps to keep you satiated,,,start a journal, and write everything down, what, when, time. Expect to eat every two hours when your in your liqued and mushie stage, just be sure to write down calorie amounts...at the end of the day total up, then do yourself a favor and google calorie calculator, it takes your weight, age, etc. and can guesstimate how many calories per day you need to loose two pounds per week....mine was 2000, but I rarely go over 1400....and i walk/jog 30-60 min a day, every day! Don't subtract your exercise calories from your daily total! Drink lots of water, and take your vitamins.....WHA-LA, that's how easy it is. -
Did anyone drink last night for NYE?
kellyodoran replied to txprime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Look, I will be totally honost with you all! I am almost 50 and have been having a cocktail hour (or two) since I was 14! I still have my cocktail hour, but I allot for the calories...I know my downfalls, candy is not one of them, neither is cake! But, I bust my ass exercising every day 30-50 min., and I journal everything that goes into my body. If I want to slowly kill my liver, I want to do it thin! Hahahahahaha! you did nothing wrong, please don't let these people discourage you from things you enjoy....maybe nexr time have a vodka and snapple peach tea (0-calories and 100 calories per ounce of booze). Remember that you must live life and not allow things you like once in a while....like the guru of this site(Indiogirl) told me..."now you are doing what thin people do" Go out and party, next day, tuna protien and lettuce....anyway it's really all about calories in versus calories out! Google it, that is the bottom line.... P.S. Don't forget to take your vitamins! -
Regular non chewable vitamin
kellyodoran replied to a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am at my sweet spot, and I still take full sized vitamins....only one at a time, and spaced out! I really can't afford all that, I am self pay, so rite-aid calcium, nad one-a-day are good enough for me! I will say that the first time I got stuck and pb'ed, was by taking two vitamins at one time....hahahahahah, now it is more about slowing down, and little bites, and chew, chew, chewing.....but anyway no probo with the regular vitamins! -
What have you lost...
kellyodoran replied to LapBandBobbi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
SOMEBODY better put this as a sticky, cause it is way too cute....I'm too damn dumb to do it or I would have......Thank you to who ever does this...Wish I were smarter! hahaha -
hope you read my post, if you have any questions, feel free to message me( I don't know if that sounded right, but get the drift)!

Pretty much in agreemant with everyone, except you should journal, everything that goes into your mouth.....google calories per day to loose weight, there is a calculator.....mine said 2000, but I easily do between 1200-1500 per day but I also walk/jog between 30 min. and an hour every single day, I also focus on protien, and drink a ton of water.........hope this helps! Please journal, once you get in the habit....wait let me tell you what I do.....I write down what I ate, when I finished, how many grams of protien, and how many calories....I know vitamins are important, so I have a place where I put a check as soon as i take them, then I have another place where I put how many minutes I got up and moved my ass....btw there are several calculators that let you know how many calories you burned by walking so many minutes.....but as I have said before and was told to me by the guru(ha ha Indiogirl) Bank your damn exercise calories burned....just pretend they never happened/////I gaurantee this will work..Oh Yeah, you will hit plateaus, cause that happens to me all the time...but trust me this will work...Example I will loose 4 or 5 pounds all of a sudden, then nothing for 10 days or more...don't give UP! Just keep following the rules, and the weight will come off! Hope this helped:)

No Adjustment Yet
kellyodoran replied to 4MyHealth2011's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you are still newly banded......HELLO! "Bandster-hell" until you get a couple more fills, you are in the above mentioned! Keep a journal of everything that goes in your mouth,,,,,,use that calculator to figure out how many calories you can eat a day and loose two pounds a week (by the way....it says 2,000 cal a day for me, but ave. is 1200-1500).....Protien,protien,protien, and exercise...at least 30 min 3 times a week, in the beginning! after that you will want to up it, because it makes you feel really good...yeah it's hard and hurts, but all those happy hormones are really worth hurting for! Hope this helps! -
Banded More than 5 Years? Thoughts on the long term...
kellyodoran replied to bugwitch's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would recommend going to the thread, I'm here to help, in the mentors section. Instead of post-op, keep scrolling down to the mentors section, the one "I'm here to help" there are several women who have had the lap-band for several years, and would be willing to answer your questions.....good luck....A Happily Banded Woman! -
My first plateau - and it came too early!
kellyodoran replied to annaot99's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
People, people, people, you my friends are in "bandster hell"......I journaled, that is why I continued to loose during this phase.....and I began an exercise regime....walking in the beginning just 30 min. a day, now at 5 months out I am walk jogging for 25-60 minutes a day and I'm damn near 50 years old. I have to say exercise is a very important key in loosing....don't subtract your calories either bank them.....What the hell does banking them mean, don't subtract them from your daily calorie total...just count on them to work. Just stick to the plan, and if you are in "banster-hell" expect to eat every two hours...write everything down, and pickles and celery can really help for wanting to munch! I mix habanero sauce and plain mustard....kinda kicks my ass but i can munch all day with no regrets.....I urge you to journal! -
Diet After First Fill
kellyodoran replied to bandedbob's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
oh yeah, as far as the fill goes, my Dr. just inserts the needle, has me sit up, with a drink of water and you drink while he fills....pretty cool because, if it is too tight, the water just stays, then he draws out a little until the water goes down......Easy, peasy, one, two, threesy! -
Diet After First Fill
kellyodoran replied to bandedbob's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i'm at 5 months out and am at my sweet spot.....if I drink when I eat, I end up urping it right out, you have to wait for that food to settle at least 30 minutes (according to my Dr.). I still take full sized vitamins, but only take them one at a time, where as before I could take them all at once. If you have trouble they do have petite vitamins that you can get anywhere (rite-aid etc.). i too had to go on two days of clear liqueds, two days of mushies, then back to real food, but usually only lasted one day on each till I got my third fill. I have a 14 cc band, and on my third fill reached my sweet spot! Hope this helps! -
Please share your yummy stuff!
kellyodoran replied to hokiemama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh yeah, pickles and celery are great fillers that really don't require any writting down in the food journal. You are all journaling aren't you? That is what has totally saved my ass, or helped it to shrink! Hahaha! -
Please share your yummy stuff!
kellyodoran replied to hokiemama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I get the munchies, I make a cup of broth, heat it up, and pour just a little of the low calorie instant mashed potatos....it fills you up without loading the calories....it kinda sticks to your ribs! all you mushie people will love this... and I have been banded for 5 months, and besides the fact there is a lot of sodium, those of you can get reduced sodium broth. If you are on full food, sometimes we just get the craving to graze, and this puts a stopper to that! Good Luck! -
Getting sick alot. Anyone else have this problem?
kellyodoran replied to JJLaw08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ha-Ha getting older sucks! As far as you people who are not taking their vitamins and calcium! SHAME ON YOU! Your body will kick your own asses big time if it does not get the right nutrients. Calcium will be robbed from your bones, which can make them brittle and lead to osteoporosis, you know that saying "oh she took a fall" well it isn't the fact that you fall it is the fact that your bones are brittle, see if you don't take your calcium, your body steals it from your bones! Of course you wont know it till you take your fall, and a simple fall breaks your Ass! So peeps please take your vitamins, and age appropriate! No dumb ass kids vitamins, unless your a kid of course......O.K. thats all, hope I didn't offend anyone,,,but on another thread they say "tough love"! -
Intense hunger 5mos after banded. What the heck?!
kellyodoran replied to making.a.change's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It totally sounds like you are not getting enough protien! When I did not get enough protien, the next day I would find myself hungrier than normal, and wanting to snack or graze! Just remember the golden rules......protien, protien, protien, exercise and water! Good luck, plus now that I think about it when I fell off the protien wagon, I remember just laying on the couch all day feeling like I wanted to sleep, and had slept more than 8 hours the night before....really wierd! -
Foods you eat/don't eat?
kellyodoran replied to sawyer77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One of my very favorite food is meatballs, take some mushroom soup, breadcrumbs, egg, and hamburger. They are mega band friendly, and I eat them for breakfast too.....naver have been an egg or cereal girl. I like to make casseroles, stews, soups, tacos, anything as long as it is balanced. I just eat sooo much less now than before and I exercise for at least 30-60 minutes everyday! As far as bread, I use sandwhich thins(multi-grain)....and pasta I can't eat in front of the T.V. because I have to focus on chewing all the pasta up or I'm like a mama bird regurgitating to her fledgling...hahahahhahaha If I pb my dog looks longingly at me (I bet she would just love it)! You know dogs always eat their barf anyway! If anyone wants my mushroom meatball recipe just respond to this and let me know, you will not be disapointed! I did so enjoy this thread....night peeps! -
