Lucky you. Everything happened so quickly for me I didn't really get to plan a last supper. My "last supper" was a whopper meal from burger king and a Heineken. I sure am going to miss the taste of beer.

LOL, glad to hear you're alright. But I can honestly tell you I wasn't hungry after surgery. More thirsty. I was given ice chips, propel and requested chicken broth just because it smelled so good. I know that gas is something else but it will pass (tee hee). I am almost two weeks postop and today is the first day I have no gas at all at this point. My only issue is I still get tired very easily. I experienced my first episode of productive burping on Friday night and for me it was such a relief. I had been having a feeling of a gas bubble in my throat for about two days and it was so irritating. I know that I ate too much Soup (and the wrong soup - it was from a restaurant and after my second sip I realized I had made a big mistake in ordering it - it was loaded with butter but dang it tasted so good). A few hours later out came the slime and relief. The same bubble feeling happened again the next day. I had no idea why it was happening. I hardly ate anything but then realized it had to be gas. Got home gulped down Water (hey I had to take me chances to get rid of this feeling) and that worked. I've felt fine since. Anyway, maybe you should also try the gas-x strips. In my case sometimes they help and sometimes they don't. Caio.

Hi Sweetpea, nice to meet you. -
I second that! Don't you just feel like you can do anything now (after a couple months of course). Like you have all these goals you've been talking about accomplishing and now you can actually really see them being done?

Hi Ladies...Nice to meet you Welcome!! -
Is redness around the area where the anesthesia pin was placed normal. I had surgery on 7/15. I noticed the redness for the first time yesterday afternoon and could not honestly say if it was there before or not. The area doesn't hurt but is mildly tender. Any ideas - should I be worried?

Shhh...Keep it in the Closet!?
skinnyoneday replied to aprilapple's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
A Lot Less, Wow at least now you know your sister is the last one to tell your personal business to. It sucks when family can't keep their mouth shut As for your husband, sometimes there are no amount of words that can ease a person's insecurity. You'll just have to show him you're not going anywhere. -

I am so happy for you Curves. You were worried for nothing. There is nothing like a good man at your side. Personally, I just came out and told my husband. I had gone to see my PCP that day. I had told him that I was sick of being fat and read about getting the lap band. I expected him to discourage me but he was all for it and recommended the group that I had my surgery with. As soon as I got home I told my husband about my discussion with my doctor and said that if the insurance approved I would be doing it. Generally I discuss things like this beforehand but I just didn't want him shooting the idea down. Once I told him about it he knew there would be no amount of talking that would get me to change my mind (if he wanted to). So while he said he wished I had tried harder on my own (he just doesn't get it) he would be there for me and has been. I love that man  April - my situation is the same as yours. My husband met me when I was hot to trot and I'm sure he is waiting with bated breath for me to get back - or close to - the size he met me at. Tammy - that's pretty cool that your husband is getting banded too. -
Thanks everyone. Enigma and Jemo I see what you mean about the gas - oh...my...goodness. i literally thank God everytime the gas is released. janet - i can't wait for that day. i'm actually getting a digital camera so i can take pictures of my journey. i will be sharing them eventually.

Lap Band Surgery Day Stories
skinnyoneday replied to pennyt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes! I finally get to participate in this thread. I posted it in another thread but here's my story: I got to the hospital at 8 am yesterday and was sent into the preop room as soon as I finished some paperwork. From there on I met with the department nurse and OR nurse, 2 anesthesiologists and my surgeon. Everyone was great. I was supposed to go into surgery around 9 according to my surgeon but she got an emergency case so i ended up going after 12 pm. the only thing i remember was the anesthesiologists giving me that pre anesthesia numbing agent and then inserting the anesthesia iv after that. when i woke up i was in the pacu (recovery). i was awake in there for about (im guessing) before i was transferred to a room. i would say i was a great patient. i got up and walked almost immediately and made it a point to walk around the floor every hour. i was able to leave the hospital a little after 10pm. all in all it was a very positive experience. -
