Hi there, I noticed that you had your surgery at the same place I am going. I will be seeing Dr. Almanza. I am sooooo excited. My surgery is Sept.2. I am from Canada and it is super expensive to have the surgery up here. So you were happy with the experience?

    Take care,

    Nikki

What's that feeling in my stomach?

I feel this "NEW" sensation in my stomach and I had to stop and think about it for a sec. Then a light bulb went off and I was like, Hmm.... I think that is hunger pains. It has been forever since I felt that pain. It always seems that I feed my belly prior to getting really hungry. Sad but true. I'll be honest, this new sensation is not my favorite but it reminds me of my goal. It's the end of my first week of liquids and I am trying to stay focused!!

    In search of.... Mexico...

Hi there. I am going to Tijuana Mexico on Sept 1. I am sooo excited to have my surgery. I live in Canada and my only option (other than paying 18000 here) is going to Mexico. I have spoken to several people who went south to have their surgery done and are very happy with their results. It you have any questions, don't be scarred to ask. Good Luck on your decision!!! Nikki
  8. Hi there,

I was on the lap-band web site for about a month and was motivated to have the band but I live in Canada where no MD will touch me if I have the surgery in Mexico. I would have to drive 8 hours to have a fill. IT is way too much maintainance for me. PLUS.... the long term results seem to be better with sleeve. Some people on this site used to have a band but had some complications and had it removed to switch to the sleeve.

As far as your concern about loose skin..well... we all have that concern. I think the best way to "reduce" it is to try to exercise as much as possible. We all will have loose skin, it's just a fact. Skin is pretty elastic but once it is stretched out it has a hard time going back. Try to speak to your MD about your loose skin concerns. At the end of the day you will feel much better after loosing the weight. Good luck with your decision and keep in touch.

  9. Hi there,

When is your date? That would be great to have someone around the same time as me. I am doing the two week pre-op diet . They only suggested one week but I thought that I would try two weeks. It's pretty tough. It's been a long time since I had hunger pains..lol.. Are you doing the pre-op diet yet?

  10. I am right in the middle of the two week pre-op diet. It was suggested to only do a week, but I thought that I would try two weeks. It's been a little harder than I thought. I have forgotten what it's like to feel hungry...lol.. The hardest part for me was giving up coffee. I hanging in there.

i think I might cahange my mind

Hi there, I was scheduled for lapband surgery for two weeks. I have just started my pre-op diet. I am Canadian and have to go to Mexico to have the surgery because it is about 18000.00 here. I will have to go to a fill center in the states to have my band filled and no MD will do it for me here. The closest is in MN about an 8hour drive away. I was talking to a few people and they suggested the sleeve because it has less maintenance. I called the clinic in Mexico and they also stated it was a better idea. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?:huh0:
  12. Hi there,

You must be so excited. I can't even sleep, I am soooo excited/nervous. I have never been thin, or have ever felt thin. It's like having to say good-by to a toxic friend. The love hate relationship I have had with food my whole life consumed way too much time. I trying to look at food as fuel for my body and not trying to poison it any longer. I MISS COFFEE!!! The whole liquid diet thing is kind of tough, but the no coffee thig is murder lol...

    take care

    Nikki

    Can't wait

I am 5 days in my pre-op liquid diet. Things are going pretty well but every time I turn on the TV they are showing some yummy food. YIKES! I need to keep busy right now. I find the busier I am, the faster the time passes. I am scheduled for Sept.2. I CAN'T WAIT....:huh0:
  15. Hi there, thanks for your comments.

I feel better about getting the sleeve. I have read some really good results and look forward to getting my journey started.

    I've made a decision...

After many long discussions with my hubby and my family, I have decided to go ahead and get the gastric sleeve operation. I wanted to get the lapband but since I live in Canada and the nearest fill center is an 8 hour drive..... I did all the calculations and decided to get the sleeve. It has much less maintainance for me. The pre-op and post-op diets are very similar. I called the facility where i am having my surgery (Sept 2) and they said it was no problem to switch procedures. The cost is not much more . So considering having to travel 8 hours stay the night in a hotel and doing this several times a year plus the cost of all the fills, I decided to go this route. I hope to stay on this site as everyone is SO AMAZING!!! I went on the gastric sleeve site and well...... lets just say you all are such beautiful and motivating people. I'll keep blogging to help me stay motivated and to read all of your wonderful stories. Take care, Nikki:smile2:

    Pre-op started TODAY!!!! Yippie!!!

I have started my pre-op diet today. I am super pumped up about the process. I gave up coffee two days ago. I have these very intense headaches from the caffeine with drawls. YIKES! I will be glad when the headaches are gone. I feel like I have this new frame of mind that is not going to listen to my inner demons telling me that "You will fail". Loosing weight in the past, I always got to a certain amount about 180 and I would stop. I am sooo looking forward to getting down to about 150. i have a good 90lbs to go but I am very motivated. I have a very thin and very fat obsessed mother the has always been in the "spotlight" my whole life. I have always heard "wow your mom is so thin, wow your mom looks amazing". I am proud of her and love her but darn it THIS IS MY TIME!!

6 days post~ how can it be

My Doctor is also very strict. I will be on only clear fluid for one week and then full fluids for another week, Only then can I have jello and soups. All Doctors are different. I know it seems painful but the longer you let your stomach heal the better off you will be. Good Luck
