heyy I'm 20 as well and was banded on Monday. I have lost 14 pounds and already feel better. I have blue shield of California and was submitted with a bmi of 40 and no co morbities. I was approved in 2 days. I picked lapband because I like the idea that if it needed to be emove it could, it's not meant to be but it provides some what of a piece of mind. I also picked it because I plan on having kids. I am not sure how bypass and pregnancy works but I was assured with lapband that I would still be able to carry a child and be able to breast feed. So I was banded on Monday and was taken back by how much this surgery hurts. Ofcourse I didn't picture it as a walk in the park but wow it is so much more painful then I expected. I took some of the pain meds yesterday and ended up throwing them up. I called my doctor and they said not to worry about it. Anyways I would like to know how to get rid of this disgusting taste in my mouth. I've tried spitting, brushing my teeth, and drinking some water and it will not go away. Also how long did it take to feel somewhat normal again after being banded?

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone that responded. Your words and similar situations make me feel a lot better. I was able to actually sleep in bed last night and slept like a baby! i woke up this morning feeling so much better. I decided to start my morning off with a protein shake and a walk. I will then shower and put on a new outfit to go to a birthday party that i have to go to. It will be interesting when I am the only not eating and everyone tries to hug me. I have not told these people and do not plan on telling them....I guess I will just have to see how it plays out. Any advice??? thanks again! <3

So I am 4 days post op and completely miserable. The gas pains scks my stomach is sore and my head is pounding so bad I'm nauseas. Call me a cry baby but I was literally crying today regretting that I ever did this. At this point I would be much happier at work having a salad for lunch. I guess I just need to vent. I hate this feeling and hope it goes away.

Ok well thanks everyone! I am going to try my left side ( my port is on the right) tonight. I am so sick of sleeping in a chair! Maybe I am just freaked out because I am only 4 days post op but I feel like a train wreck. I can't even begin to imagine my life going back to normal. The gas is still bad

I feel like I drink fluids allllll day long but my lower- mid back hurts. I am thinking it might be my kidney. Has anyone has this feeling? Also i feel like the gas is trying to decide where to go so it ends up hurting me and just sitting right below my throat for a few seconds before it will subside. Please tell me I'm not the only who is feelin this way. Anyways to help would be more then appreciated :thumbup:

We seem to have similar ups and Downs. I was banded Monday the 27 th Ups: I've lost 10 lbs in 7 days my family has been telling me they can see a difference I'm starting tofeel a LITTLE bit better downs: the disgusting taste in my mouth the horrible gas pains feeling weak throwing up from the pain meds (ouch!) having to deal with the pain without pain meds because it makes me throw up my back/ neck aches needing help to do certain things like turning the shower on and brushing my hair I want to chug like 10000 bottles of Water because I am so thirsty; obviously I can't

How long did it take to actually lay down and be-comfortable in bed??

So I am being banded TODAY! wow! I am so excited and happy but boy do Ihave the worst headache I have ever had in my life! It is awful. I suffer from migraines anyway, but not being able to take Excedrin or my birthcontrol pills has made it SO much worse. Any advice as to what I should expect in any regards to the surgery? Did you have headaches? If so, how long did they last?

I just wanted to stop by and say congratulations to all of my fellow September Bandsters! How are those of you doing that have already had it done? I am having my surgery tomorrow! I am so excited and nervous!!!! :smile:

are there any support groups in the LA area that any one knows of? The Marina and Beach cities are ideal but I am willing to travel to other parts of LA if needed.

So my surgery date is approaching very quickly! It is weird to think that 1 week from now I will be in surgery! My surgery is next Monday, September 27th! I am so nervous, scared, excited, anxious,and every other emotion that there is. On Wednesday I go in for "Pre-Op Day" I was told that I will be there all day....What is going to happen? What do they do during this time? Thanks :]

how terribly sad. my thoughts are with her her family through this awfully hard time. just remember the good times and cherish the memories.

ugh is it September 27th yet!? I am so ready for this! I am so sick and tired of being uncomfortable on the inside and out. I don't even go out anymore, in fear that I will run in to someone I know. I am only 20 years old and these years are supposed to be the "best years of my life." Well I sure hope not haha. I am really hoping this all works out and that I actually lose the weight. I have no problem with sticking to a diet and exercising if I am actually going to see results. How is everyone else doing? Congrats to those who have already been banded this month and good luck to those who will be banded in the near future :]

I regards to personally... -Did you shave downstairs? (I have never had surgery so I am a little curious as to what the process of it all is like) -I am a little nervous of just getting naked in front of a doctor. (i know they see it all the time but I don't) -What was it like when you woke up from surgery?
