In 2010 with my LapBand I didn't tell a soul. The day before my surgery I told my husband, only because I got cold feet about going to Mexico alone. It was getting too hard on the liquid phase with three teens in the house explaining why mom wasn't eating at the table with them so at about 3 weeks out I told my kids and then about 3 people over 6 years. This time I shouted it from the roof top HEY LOOK AT ME, I AM GETTING SLEEVE SURGERY. The reasons are: I hated keeping the "secret", I want the support and I want to share my accomplishments,

Honey in Tea? Clear Liquid Phase?
hbrhonda replied to AlexandraStJames's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A little honey or splenda is OK. Surgery drinks are a NO NO. -
Stuggling with clear liquid phase

A lot of doctors put their patients on Protein shakes right out of the hospital. You should ask your Dr if you can start adding shakes slowly. I was also sleeved June 28th. I do 3 oz Breakfast, lunch and dinner. I also eat one SF Jello a day, one SF popsicle, and 1/2 bottle of Gatorade ZERO. IMHO you shouldn't suffer. Also, try sublingual B12 for energy. -
Doing great. Walked 1/2 mile today. Haven't had any pain, oh unless I sneeze

Anyone go to Mexico solo?
hbrhonda replied to fancypants67's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I completely agree with JamieLogical on this one. No stress. Better to go alone. You are gonna be kinda out of it for two days at the hospital and in no shape to "entertain" anyone. You'll be 100% safe and taken care of. Please trust me on this! -
I had my revision June 28th. I live in OC

Biggest change or challenge from band to sleeve ?
hbrhonda replied to iamjohnbamber's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was unbanded and sleeved the day after you and also had a hernia repaired. LOL I still feel like I have my band. Waiting for the Water to go down and when I hiccuped I thought it was gonna cut my stomach in half. I am curious on the answer to this question. -
How much did your weight loss surgery in Mexico cost, total?
hbrhonda replied to WitchySar's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Mine was $500 down $3750 when I got there. Included airport transfers from San Diego, 1 pre op hotel night, surgery, 2 nights hospital stay, 2 nights post op hotel and post op meds. I used Dr Fernando Garcia at Tijuana Bariatrics for sleeve surgery last week. When I got my band I used Dr Ortiz at Obesity Control Center. He is kinda high priced now but also top notch. Wish I coulda used him again. -
I am 4 days post op and spent days making broths before surgery. The easiest: I bought a costco pre-cooked baked chicken plopped it in a pot and started adding diced veggies: Leeks, onions, celery, carrots topped with water a few chicken bullion cubes and simmered an hour. I pulled the chicken out and let cool. I drained broth into ice cube trays, put mushy veggies in snack size ziplocks and shredded the chicken and put a couple table spoons of reserved broth in each baggie. Voila!! Meals for a month. My husband takes two broth cubes microwaves them in a small glass dish for 55 secs and I am golden.

Just "unfriended" someone today I have known since before my Lap Band in 2010. She got banded shortly after me and we were band buddies. Well I have been throwing the revision to sleeve idea around for 6 months and today she let me have it. "You should have just gone to the gym", "you're just trying to be your husbands trophy wife", "I cannot believe you went to Mexico for revision!". WTH I had surgery 4 days ago!!! Who does that? I am sorry you switched insurances lady and I am a cash patient. I am sorry that I went to Mexico and couldn't be in the same operating room on the same table with you. GET OVER IT. You'll get your sleeve soon enough but I will not be your sleeve buddie. Find a different chick. Rant over. Thanks for listening. I feel better.

I wanted to start C25K and my friend discouraged me because of my weight. She said it would be to hard on my knees. I really want to run the 5K in my local town. Maybe I will say what the heck and do it! You guys are imspiring me. Thanks:)

I thought it was just me. I feel so empty inside. Which I'm realizing is loneliness, not hunger. Our close friends don't seem so much like friends as eating buddies. I never really paid attention to how many times we met them at restaurants, how all our activities circled around food and drinking. Now I am on a mission to find new friends, yesterday we went to a meeting (at a pizza place) for people who ride ATV's in our area. It was great, we met so many nice people our age, we already have plans to meet a group of them Saturday for a Sand Sports convention that is in town. Today I woke up with a new feeling. A feeling of determination. Now off for my morning walk. I can do this!

I had some burning pain in my port about two weeks out and it was adhesion's. (scare tissue attaching to the port). The Dr is probably right that overeating could not cause your port to detach. It could cause your band to slip. Be careful. Aren't you on liquids for 21 days?

I just cooked dried black beans. Then they are fat free. Also, I used salsa instead of enchilada sauce. There are so many variations. Just have fun with it. They are all very yummy and healthy.
