Hi ladies! I know ive seen threads about this before, but now that I want one, i cant find any! Im 3 1/2 weeks post-op and noticed in tonights shower that i pulled out gobs of hair while washing. I have lots of really thick long hair, so its typical I lose a lot in the shower but tonight was about twice the typical amount. How soon did any of you start noticing some hair loss, and how long before you noticed an end to it (if ever?)

Relationships & Sex Post Op
SacChick1980 replied to NoName-AZ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked my doctor that, and he said (in a nut shell) if i felt like it, and it wasnt uncomfortable, go for it. So i waited about 2 and a half weeks. And it went just fine. A few positions were less comfortable than others, but nothing we couldnt work around -
11 days Post Op bruising and pain
SacChick1980 replied to Luvtexas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The shots you got in your tummy (Heparin) are known to cause serious bruising. I got mine in my upper arm, underneath. I had 5 HUGE spectacular bruises for about a week from them. Its totally normal  -
Im not sure why, but unlike people posting here i had serious pain the first 12 hours after surgery- enough that they kept me pumped full of morphine. When I woke up from surgery my pain was easily an 8 and thats being generous. However, by the next day i was much, MUCH better and took my last pain pill on day 3 and have very very minimal discomfort since then. I had virtually zero gas pain though, which was nice. I honestly was shocked at the pain levels considering most everyone around here said they had very little pain. Just throwing in my two cents, though I am clearly in the minority- but i would have liked to know ahead of time that it was a possibility.

Barilla Plus pasta....
SacChick1980 replied to jingleboob's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I so excited to see this post. I saw it today while grocery shopping and decided to try it- and then of course came here to see if anyone else had tried it yet. I was super excited to see pasta with protein added! *happy dance* -
How soon after surgery did you feel 'normal'? I know its different for everyone, but I had surgery on the 26th and as of today (the 31st) I feel totally fine- other than having a very sore tummy. I havent had any instances of nausea, PB'ing, vomiting- nothing! Ive been really watching my calories and quantities of foods and just started taking my Multi-vitamin, B Complex and Iron today and I still feel fine. Today's the first day Ive felt hungry after eating my delicious 1/2 cup of blenderized food. I had a bit of mushed up chicken around lunch time and it didnt bother my stomach at all. Ive been drinking my protein shakes/smoothies and my calories are under 700 a day. Im just a bit concerned that im not having any problems (does that seem weird?)

I understand why you are upset, however, thats perfectly legal and something that does happen. I work in the insurance industry (on the doctor's side collecting money from insurance companies). Anytime you go in for surgery theres the possibility that more (or sometimes less) will be done when the doctor actually gets inside and sees whats going on- that's why surgical procedures are always done on an 'estimated cost' basis. Hernia repair and lapband are two different procedures that require more anesthesia, more hospital time and room usage. I wouldnt be thrilled at all to be getting hit with a deductible fee from insurance either, but someone has to pay for the extra time and expertise done to fix your hernia. I highly doubt that disputing the claim will do anything other than cause you more stress.

Surgery Friday and I'm terrified of the pain/pain meds...
SacChick1980 replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also have problems with pain meds. Lortab is in the codeine family so if you can generally take codeine, you should be fine. I am limited to (basically) darvocet only which does NOT come in a liquid, so I had to crush pills and take them mixed with juice. It was soooo gross! I had surgery monday and took my last pain pill on Wednesday. I know everyone is different, but I will say when I woke up from surgery I was in a lot of pain, but they pumped me up on morphine and everything was fine- just sore- after that. Im a big fan of liquid tylenol and highly recommend it over narcotics whenever possible- just my two cents. Good luck with everything -
POLL Should I have them redone to make them perfect... Breast pictures
SacChick1980 replied to princess_n_thep's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I know im late to this thread. Maybe its because im from california and see oodles of silicone (saline) or maybe its just because I love fake boobies, but id be furious if Id paid $8K for those results. I have no idea what you ended up doing, but the end result is that you have to do what makes YOU happy. Hope you got it worked out and you're happier now! -
What are your post op lifting restrictions?
SacChick1980 replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is nothing over 30lbs for 6 weeks. Isnt it funny how different doctors have very different rules for (almost) the same situation? -
Just banded? Worried? Hungry? PLEASE READ!!
SacChick1980 replied to lovinlife4eva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you so much for posting this. Im just started to get that worried feeling and im glad to see its *normal* -
I love my magic bullet! I use it to crush my pills, blend my protein drinks, mix soups, everything! Its the best purchase Ive made in ages!
-
It will get better! I also felt pretty craptastic the first couple days, but I took my last pain killer on Day 3 before bed and havent had any since. Of course I had incentive to switch to just liquid tylenol since I had to crush up darvocet and mix with liquid (which tastes awful!) Im a bit cranky myself but my parents are being pretty supportive in dealing with it- Hang in there!

I am thankful :rolleyes2: I guess im just wondering if thats how im supposed to be feeling. Ive read about so many people experiencing trouble right away and it makes me worry a bit.

SacChick1980 replied to pollywogg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks so much for the advice and tips in this thread. Im going to refer back to it often as I start to enter this phase. Never thought about doing Atkins (which im also very familiar with) Its so nice to have so many helpful tips in one place! -

Any July Bandsters.....
SacChick1980 replied to glamgyrl76's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is the 26th so I still have about a week of 'normal' foods and then on to the 'mostly clear and liquids' diet. Not especially looking forward to that, but I think it will drastically help me reach my goal surgery weight which is about 8 lbs less than I am now.
