I know this seems like a weird thing to ask, but I have been so sick and really coughing. I had a couple of weird pains for the past few days. They seem muscular because they have gotten better through the week. So I am wondering with all my coughing, could I have caused my band to slip? From what I have read I would be throwing up. I haven;t I am just paranoid because I have had the band surgery twice. My first one had a leak

If you have a 14cc band, where are you in terms of being full? At what restriction did you really start losing weight?

How do you know if your band has a leak?

I had a leak in my balloon. I was going and going for refills and not feeling any restriction. Then I finally mentioned that I could eat a 6 inch Subway and my Dr took me serious. He filled me to a 10 (I have a 14 cc band) and by the time they did the test with the dye it was all gone. So mine was big. If you feel like you have one, tell your Dr. you want the florioskpy (?) test. That way they can also see where it is leaking from. The port, band, etc. I have many friends who have had this done and none of them needed to keep getting fills. I had to have my surgery redone. Good luck. -
I am so sad. I posted earlier that my Dr was not listening to me about fills. I have had 4 and had no restriction. Last fill I questioned, could there be a leak? He said no. Today he seemed really confused by it. Filled me with 10cc's. I felt nothing. Then he tried to draw fluid out and there was little there. Went to have an X ray to see what was going on and we could see the dye he was injecting floating all around. There was a leak and all of the 10cc's he injected were gone. So guess where I am headed? Back to surgery. I asked if he filled it up to check for leaks before the surgery was over and he said they do but only once. It must have gotten nicked by a needle after that. I am so depressed.......and mad at him. Why wouldn;t you check for leaks after it is in place?

So I had my surgery in June and have lost a little weight (15 pounds). I have had 4 fills. I am going in again Thursday. When I ask my Dr. what the size of my band was he was weird about telling me. Making me feel like I was weird for asking. He finally told me it was a 14 cc band. Then when I ask how much he is putting in for a fill he avoids the subject and tells me it doesn't matter as long as it is tight. The problem is it's not. And I swear he makes me feel like I am crazy for saying its not. Near as I can figure he fills 2 cc's at a time. So I am about 8/9cc's. Anyone else have a weird situation like this? I would find another dr but I have free fills till Oct. And to go to a new dr would cost me about 600.00 It's just alot of driving and time off work.

Dr won't fill tight enough...

So maybe he was filling. I just found out I have a leak in the balloon part of my band. I have to have the surgery over again. I am so sad!
