I can't believe it's been 6 months since I started this journey. I had my final appointment today with the nutritionist. She is submitting my paperwork today and then I have to wait for a commitee to review it. If all goes well, I'll be approved to meet with the surgeon. I am very hopeful that I will get approved. Also, my husband is starting to come around. He has expressed that he is very concerned about the surgery part. I told him it was a safe procedure. Any advice on what I can tell him to ease his mind?

i am 4 months into my 6 month program required by my insurance and just had a class on how to chew and "drink" i just wanted to see when i should start practicing my new chewing and "drinking"? i'm not going to lie those small sips are not easy to quench my thirst.:wub:

cocoabean you are right, i have kaiser and all of information is geared towards bypass patients. there was little to non about lapband patients. now that i've thought about it, the sipping was for the first stage of clear liquids. i have brain freezes from time to time. i blame the kids and the hubby :-)

I was in the kaiser (woodlawn,md) on 10/28/10.

thank you guys for your responses. i must have misunderstood what the nutritionist was saying. maybe the sipping is for the first couple of weeks post op. i am so excited about this journey i must have zoned out for a minute while she was talking. i can't stop thinking about 'life after' being banded. so excited! so determined! to be successful!

Hi All, I'm getting in the home stretch of completing my 6 month program. Only 2 more visits!! I mentioned it to my hubby and he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about. I said I've been telling you since June that I'm going through the process. We had a heart to heart and he is starting to come around about me having the surgery. He is worried of course about the surgical part and me losing too much weight. Is there any such thing (wink...wink :-) :wink2:Glad we talked and I'll keep you all posted. P.S. - which of the Protein Shake providers sends out the free samples? I saw it in a post a while ago and can't remember. Thanks for listening..... I don't have the support of my husband. I have been thinking about getting surgery for many year and the last time i checked into it i let him talk me out of it. This time NO WAY i am going full steam ahead. i am still in the infancy of the process and am praying to be banded in january. Everytime i bring it up to talk about, he says "why are you getting that thing or why do you want to get that thing"! I am praying that I am approved for the procedure. I don't talk to him about it, I don't have anyone to talk to about it....just you guys in virtual land.

Hi All, i just started the process with Kaiser in Columbia, MD. i just wanted to see if anyone has been through it with them and what their experience was. So far i've had my first consult and psych eval. i still have to go through the six months. i am hoping to be banded in january. i would love any feedback.

hi all, i have been thinking about having wls for many years. after many almost attempts i have decided to take the steps to get the surgery. just started the process with kaiser in columbia md. i would love to see if anyone has gone through kaiser in this area to see how the process went for them. i'm excited and nervous, hopeful and skeptical....sounds crazy right?!?!? i'll take any advice you all may have to help me along the way.
