Hi Sherry, I wanted to know if you have United Health Care for your insurance. IF so what was your requirements. I also wanted to know what kind of testing did you have to do? How long was the process. I attend the educational class August 3rd. I originally wanted to have the lap band until I start researching more and found that I really want the sleeve done.

I noticed you are goin with Doctor Genaw at henry ford. I'm going for the educational class Aug 3rd. I was wondering if you can answer a couple of questions.
How was the class?
Did you have United Health Care?
How long before the approval?
Did he discuss the sleeve or were you just looking for the lapband?
Oh and how long from the class until you got your surgery date.
I know it's a lot of questions I'm just glad I can find someone that went to the same place

Hello Everyone, I'm new to this site. I have been researching the lap band surgery for quite some time. I made appointment to attend the educational class on August 3rd. However I'm really leaning more towards the gastric sleeve. I have United Healthcare and they approve the surgery with the following things; BMI over 40, doctor in network, surgeon in network, over 18, and 2 comor. All above fit me my BMI is 41 and I suffer with Gerd, Asthma and Hypertension. So I'm just praying when the paperwork is turned in I will have no problems. I'm so looking forward to learning more from all of you as ai embark on this journey to change my life for the better.

Hello Everyone, I just got my date for my visit with the Nurse and Dietcian for August 3rd. I'm so excited, I can't believe that I have to be there from 2 until 8. Can anyone tell me what to expect? They also said I need 50 dollars for my supplies? What kind of supplies do I need at this stage?

I called her back to ask what she was referring to as supplies she said that's educational books for the bariatric surgery that is suggested reading. She said that I could pick it up to get a jump start or get at the class. I think I will pick it up to get the jump start. This will be my first consult. She said they will schedule me with the surgeon that day so I will have to come back -

Hello everyone I have been researching the lap bad for quite sometime now. my BMI is 41 and I weigh 237. I suffer with Gerd, Asthsma and Hypertension and thyroid problems. I have researched that alot of people symptoms have went away or medicines have been drastically reduced. I hope to lose weigh reduce medicines and live a healthier life. I have lost weighed and gain back and nothing over 15pounds. I lost 20 once when I was lupron shots that cause me to lose my appetite ad I only drunk water for 1 month. I have found this website very informative. Looking forward to sharing my status. My insurace is United Healtcare so I'm hoping not having any problems gettig approved. I'm at the very begining stage. The hospital where I would have the surgery requires you to see if you insurace approves the surgery. My do, the I had to review a package they sent. I will be calling to schedule my appointment tommorrow.
