WOW Mary you are doing really well from the looks of your weight loss scale! Great job! I am not able to get the lap band on my previuos GB, had really wanted to but not gonna happen! I may end up having a revision on my stomach, there are problems that need fixed so maybe get it all done at the same time! Keep up the good work! Vicki

    lap bands in pennsylvania

Well hopefully for you they will be able to. From what I gathered the process takes awhile! mostly because of the insurance, they say that it is harder to recieve approval now than when I had it first! Are you going for the bypass or the lap band? I had wanted to get the lap band but they said that insurance will not approve that yet! Well let me know how it goes for you the 12th! i will be excited to here! Vicki

    lap bands in pennsylvania

Hi Heather! Well thankyou for posting! I went today (the 6th of Dec) and seen the doctor and his staff for the first time! I think you will like them! I seen Dr Gane (spelling poor) he was very nice, took time to explain and listened and answered all my questions. The office staff to was very friendly and helpful, the dietian was really nice, had alot of helpful advise. The doctors assistant, rubbed me the wrong way as if I was stupid nand was rather bossy! That did not leave a very good impression, may have been an off day for her, unsure! not sure why! But over all a very nice staff! I had to have an Upper GI due to the fact that I have had the Gastric bypass in 2000. that went well and by the time I arrived at the office in the afternoon he had results for me! So it was nice that the hospital is right there and they work with this doctor! I am not having the lap band, I may have revision surgery on my little pouch not sure at this point will take some time! Oh ya it seems as if this process may take some time to get approval and the actual surgery! I go back in 6 to 8 weeks, which landed on Feb 14th! Let me know when you go and what you think of it all too! Can't wait to hear your response! I feel very pleased! Vicki

Hi has anyone gone to West Penn Bariatric Center??? I am schedualed to go Dec 6th.
  8. I had my RYN bypass done my Dr Sonpal at St Vincents Charity hospital...myself I am really undetermined about returning there! He is a great doctor as is Dr Schieber, but I have been trying to get to talk to someone there in response to either a lap band or to have a revision and for the life of me, I can not seem to get any one to help me with just questions! I have spoken to so many machine being bounced around it has become very discouraging! It was much "personal" when I had my procedure 6 years ago! Sandra use to be there not sure if she is still there but she is just wonderful!! Can not say enough nice about that woman! She makes everyone feel so at ease and good about themselves! I am also looking into West Penn in PA I really thank you for taking the time to comment on my question! This is all so confusing!:phanvan Thanks again Vicki

I just had to write and tell....your little saying above your chart just cracked me up!!!! I sat here giggleing until my hubby had decided he had better check on me!!! humor is such a great thing! loved it! Vicki:D
  12. I was wondering how it works the first couple weeks after the surgery. Do you follow a liquid diet for awhile as with the RYN? How much can you eat? I know with the RYN it was only like a shot glass amout, does this fall with the banding as well? I hate to sound dumb founded but I have so many questions and troubles finding the answers! Thanks Vicki

    New from Cincinnati area

Hi I am from Lisbon Ohio about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes from Younstown! I went to St Vincent Cherity and had my RYN bypass done by Dr Sonpal in May of 2000. I am now trying to find out about getting the banding procedure done because I have regained my weight in this time. I have had two pregnancies , hystorcetomy and quite smoking all in two years! (loosing the first baby) Stress is a major contributor I am sure! I Know from my experience with insurnace, Blue Cross Blue Shield, I had to battle to get mine approved! It finally took a letter from my Gyn. and family doctor and the they approved it in a matter of two weeks! nSo stay stay strong and keep your head up and remember that is they denie you the first time that you can appeal it and I know when I had mine about 65% of the approvals were done by going through an appeal! I would love to go back to Dr sonpal in Cleveland but they do not band on GBP patients! I have thought about having the "tune up" but soo much to consider! I think if I can find someone to band me I will do that! I would love to have someone near to keep in touch with on here! So if anyone is interested please respond! Good luck all and keep your head up!:clap2:

    what is a fill?

GayleTX and Laurend Thank you both for your help! I feel so badly that I let the weight come back! I did not realize it until we lost our home to a house fire this past April, we were rescued off the burning roof and I remember a sudden fear that my weight may collapse the roof with my three children, hubby and myslef! Weirdest thing to thing it would hit you at a time like that..that you h ave packed the weight back on! I have been weighing the desion of having a "tune up" with my RYN or to find a doctor that would do the banding on me! Really still undecided, the main thing is how invasive the RYN was, I still have a scare that is at least 8 inches long and has some spots that are as wide as 3/4 an inch! I do not worry about the vanity thing, three kids strech marks to my ears, all c sections, I could really care less about another scare! It is the healing plus I scare too much in the inside when cute completely open! I really like that you all respond to each other and to new comers as myself, I have found no other site that is as dedicated to helping each other! Anyone that has any little info you would like to give me I would be sooo grateful! Honestly I am not even sure that my insurance will even approve it with out a long drawn out tado as it was with my RYN. But please I want to gain as much knowledge as I can with this. That was a down fall before. I never went through any classes explaining it, all I knew was I would be on liquids for about 6 weeks then learn to eat again and loose weight! thanks again for your help and I have started looking at the web site you recommeded GayleTX Vicki
  15. Hi I have been bouncing around on here to figure some of this stuff out! As for now I have not quite gotten what a "fill" is! I must be missing it! I have been looking and reading some much on here! I had the RYN bypass 6 yrs ago and I only wish that this kind of things would have been available! you all are sooo connected! It is truely inspiring to me to read and learn! It seems like a larger familly has formed and I think that is awesome! Can some one help me to have a total understanding of this procedure? I understand the banding but thelinks I have been on do not seem to go into great detail ! Thanks Vicki :clap2:
