  1. PrairieD -- how long after surgery b/f you could hold your little one? I have a 2.5 year old. I don't really have to hold her much. She can walk, get in the car, out of the car, etc., but I was wondering. I'm going to schedule my surgery with Dr. Hoehn soon. Can't wait!
  2. Hi Everyone. Hope all is well. I turned in my paperwork at Dr. Hoehn's office yesterday. Even though I don't have a date, things are starting to feel like a reality. They said they could have me scheduled for surgery in October. Wow...that made me feel so nervous. Were you all nervous when the reality sank in?
  3. Thanks LadyKC. You're doing awesome! 31 lbs lost. It must be a great feeling knowing those 31 lbs are gone forever! Seems I would lose 20 lbs, go on vacation/business trip and here came the same 20 lbs! I'll speak with them about it my schedule. Just curious...can you eat salad? I know each person is different, but I was just curious if I would still be able to eat salad. Even though I have a weight problem, I really do like salads!
  4. I'm not banded yet, but I'm curious, what do ya'll eat when you're out w/ people you don't want to know you're banded? Like a business lunch?
  5. Thanks LadyKC. How long post-op b/f you can eat more than mushy foods? I don't want to share my WLS with anyone but my closest friend. But, if I have my surgery in October, I'll be coming up on Thanksgiving. Also, I travel quite often for work and I don't want to be in a weird business lunch/dinner situation if I can schedule by trip well past my surgery. Let me know what ya'll think...
  6. Hi. I'm in Kansas City. I'm still considering everything. I might chose Dr. Hoehn at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Has anyone used him? If you have any opinions, I'd welcome them -- on here or by private message. I'm 41, mother of a 2.5 year old daughter, 39 BMI and ready to slim down!!!
  7. My insurance requires a Dr. to do the 6 month diet & exercise documentation. My BMI is 39, overall I am healthy so my primary Dr. sounded as though he wasn't comfortable doing the 6 month documentation. I have BCBC PPO -- any recommendations on finding a primary Dr that is supportive??

    Microwave eggs?

Yes, I do this quite often for my toddler daughter. Get a plastic bowl (tuperware or whatever), spray with Pam. Add the egg, scramble, add just a touch of milk, scramble and microwave for 1 minute. Wa la, perfect! If you make two eggs, it is slightly longer in the microwave. If you add too much milk, it will be runny. Just a touch of milk... Good luck. Let me know who it turns out.
  9. I'm a single mom of a 2.5 year old. How much help do you need post-op. I obviously will need someone to look after my child and me, but for how long? The answer to this will depend on who I ask to help out. Any advice is appreciated.
  10. Hi gals! I'm also in Kansas City. I have a 2.5 year old little one. I'm still on the fence on the whole banding thing. I really want to have it done, but I don't want to wait for insurance to approve and I don't want to self pay. tigermom--how are you feeling??? I'm 39 bmi with no co-mo's. If I gain 5 more pounds, I will be 40 which is what my insurance requires. But then I will need to do the 6 month diet/nutrition period. I'm afraid after 6 months my insurance will deny me so I'm considering self pay. Did either of you do self pay? It's hard b/c that is so much money to spend!! I have been eating like a pig and still have not pushed myself to the 40 bmi--I don't think I could stand being this heavy for another 6 months!! Any ideas, thoughts, etc??
  11. I love to scuba dive. I am not banded yet--going through the insurance requirements right now. If I were to get banded, could I still scuba dive??? I forgot to ask the question -- if anyone knows, please let me know.
  12. Thanks BeachBunny! It's not hard to gain weight so I'll most likely be 40 bmi soon. Even with BMI at 40, my insurance requires 6 month Dr. documentation. Did you have to do that?
  13. I'm on the border as well...bmi of 39 and no co-morbidity. My insurance BCBS requires 6 month documented diet and exercise, psych eval, nutritionist eval. I'm scheduled to see my primary doctor tomorrow...I don't have much of a relationship with him (I saw him for a sinus infection 2 years ago and have only been living here in this area 2 years). I'm afraid he will try to balk at helping me, talk me out of it, etc. I'm just so tired of being fat. I want his cooperation on getting the 6 month show on the road, so to speak. Anyone else have this experience?? 5'2; 212 lbs.
