    February 2007 bandsters!

Hi, I just started eating some regular foods this last week, before that I was on the creamy soup stage. I've been eating regular foods like fish, sweet potatos, manderine oranges, oatmeal, string cheese, dinty moore, the other day I had'nt had much to eat so I did have a Filet-o-fish and a small shake from McDonalds (some habits die hard) I took off half the bun and no frys. My nutr. said to eat 3 healthy meals a day, selecting foods from all the food groups. I don't know I am so new to this, that I am also reading everyones posts to see what works for them. Sunnysea
  4. Marjon9 and Lap dancer, You can at (freeglitters.com) LOL! Can you tell I like vacations and bling:D It's sad I spent hours goofing around with the glitters last night, i'm just figuring out how to do it. Up until now I was only good at shopping online! my husband is thrilled, do all the glitter you want hon:) Also, can you tell I haven't been able to seperate my paragraphs! still working on that. Question to anyone that has had a fill, does Dr. K have us go on liquids for a few days after a fill? Sunnysea
  5. Machale, I was able to down liquids easily right away, I stuck to the clear fluids for like the 1st 4 days. But when I started the creamy soups, etc..., I would feel full pretty easy, it was Great:) That feeling is now pretty much gone, my band has matured (swelling has gone down) I'm ready for a fill, well in a couple of weeks. Sunnysea
  6. Shesha, I just wanted to know how you were doing with your 1st fill? I had one scheduled for the Tues. after Easter so that I could go to the support group meeting but I changed it to the week before instead. I know that it is only a week sooner but I have no restriction and it is going to be a long couple of weeks!:decision: Sunnysea
  7. Machale, Just wanted to let you know that popping in a piece of SF mint gum right after downing that wicked tasting pain medicine really helped me. Congratulations on being Banded,:welldoneclap: Sunnysea
  8. Everyone is so different, my surgery was Feb. 28th and I feel like I didn't even have surgery:omg: I was able to drink right away. I did have restriction and loved not being as hungry. Just go slow like you have been and it should get better soon. I can't believe how fast mine went down.
  9. I would be, i'm about 4-5 hours away.

    February 2007 bandsters!

Teacher, I know that every Dr. and Nutritionist have differant ideas. Mine tells me to drink 1 cup of a high-protein supplement between each meal and another before bed (3 cups total). Choose a protein supplement with 15-20 g of protein per serving and 100-150 calories (Carb Solutions, Edge Body for Life, Atkins Shake,or Slim Fast High Protein. And to stay well hydrated, sip water or a calorie-free beverage (crystal light or sugar-free tea) between meals, after your protein supplement. Try to consume 30 ounces a day of water at one sip a minute. I am new to this so I have been consuming my protein shakes but I know that some of the others that had their surgery by Dr. Kirshenbaum don't follow this. I think for now it is helping me get my protein in. I cannot sip it slowly nor can I sip water every minute all day! So i just do the best I can getting my fluids in. I think the protein shakes will help keep hunger down between meals, I'm not sure what I will do as time goes on?!?! I did find that I like the Body For Life shakes and they have 17g protein and 110 calories. Sunnysea

Kelsey, Try a drink with at least 15 grams of protien and 110 to 190 cal., like Slimfast High Protien,Atkins, Advantage, etc..... I don't think the Carnation Breakfast has much protien if I remember right?!? Hope this helps, Sunnysea

    February 2007 bandsters!

Hi Lise, I'm feeling good, I'm back to work [cosmetics at Walgreens] which is 32 hours of on my feet running all day which is a good thing. I have started mushy soft foods, it seems like one day I'm hungry and the next not as much. I am really tired after work which is to be expected having just had surgery 2 weeks ago. Anyhow I have to run now, talk to you later, Sunnysea:D

    February 2007 bandsters!

Hi Lise, I was banded on the same day! Even though I weigh more than you it looks like our BMI's are about the same and the amount we want to lose. Good luck and keep us posted, Sunnysea
  15. Macale+Chula, I understand your nervous, excited, anxious, having to fly to some strange place to have surgery, but i'm sure you are going to love your experience and your band! I didn't mean to say that Denver was a strange place!!!! I know that I am new to being banded, so I have alot to learn and or experience. But Dr. Kirshenbaum is really detail orientated and a great surgeon and I feel that the surgical center was better care in the short time I was there than our local Hospital. Good luck with everything, I have to go to work. Bye, Sunnysea
  16. :hungry: I just started adding creamy soups and stuff to my diet but anyway I just made something good and simple. I made a cup of chicken broth and added instant mashed potatoes keeping it still thin enough and added alittle olive oil margerine. The broth was the softer cubes that knorr's makes.

    1 week post-op recipe

Jackal, Thanks for the reply, it's so true everything we do this 1st month post-op is the opposite of trying to fill that pouch to stay full for a few hours. I know even when I down a cup of soup I'm thinking ok that was maybe too much and then I realize no that this phase I need to do this:confused: Anyhow, keep the advice coming. You have done a GREAT job at working your band. Congratulations! Sunnysea:)
