wow, with the loss of Michelle, and now having to wait 2 months for a fill, I am really getting a little worried about the program. I was wondering if I could schedule my first fill now...maybe I will call and ask. On a brighter note...I called today to check on Special K, and she was already discharged! I can't wait to hear about how the three amigos did!

PS just a note...the heprin shot was the most pain. You get that in preop and it burns...so after the shot, think about it only being better form there on out! PSS the are no joke with rings! I tried to get mine off, but there was no way...they were ready to cut them off--yikes!!! I begged the anisthesia doc to atleast start with them on, but if he needed to cut them from swelling--I would understand! The first thing I did was look under the tape...and Yah, my rings were still on. whew! Sooo, work at taking them off in the am, when you have the least amount of sweeling!

Thanks again guys for all of the well wishes! Last night I took a percocet before bed to help me relax and get some sleep (you really don't get any sleep in the hospital. someone is there checking on you about every hour or two) I was a little confused bc I got percocet pills--not liquid. I just crushed them and put them in applesauce--yuck! It was really gross crunching the pills in my teeth. I guess it helped, bc I slept well. Rolling from side to side was a little uncomfortable, but nothing that needed meds for. Today I had my first shower..ahhh, it felt really good. I am starting to burp more...usually after I drink anything. Every now and again I feel hungry, but not to the point were I would eat anything I shouldn't. I am cutting my volume down to a half a cup. I didn't pay attention at the hospital, but I was eating a full cup at a time...I started my account on fitday.com like Michelle wanted us to do. I guess it is going well. I was a little surprised that the full liquid recipes she gave us didn't have a carbohydrate count...I might call her and ask her myself, just to have a complete profile. I was a little sad that my mom had to leave today, but Russ will be home later and has the weekend off. Until then I am trying to take it easy with the kids. This is harder than you can imagine. We are a very snuggley family, and they are really wanting Mommy to hold them and play with them. I am betting by Monday I will be 100%. I would say I am about 90% now...not so bad for two day post-op! Good luck to all of the St Patty's Day gang. My thought will be with you. And relax...it is sooo much easier than you are thinking. The three of you will be fine! love n.

Hello everyone!!! Back from sx and doing well! I was very luck with surgery...I never had any gas or incisional pain. Dr Choban said that the sx was picture perfect, and this morning when she came to check on me, she said it looked like I have never had the sx. I told her it was much easier than I has anticipated! I have heard people say that things are much sweeter after sx, and I have to agree. I had a really hard time eating the jello. And I was surprised when the broth was extra delicious! Another note...schedule you post op class now. I called this am and they wanted to put me in an April 2 class. I told her I needed before bc I would be on mushies before that...the did't want to, but she put me in a class next week. FYI--it seems like everyone is out that week of Easter, so my two week f/u is actually in 3 weeks.... Dr choban also said that my first fill wouldn't be til about 7 weeks...agh! I was soooo looking forward to restriction! Anyway, I wanted to thank everyone for all the well-wishes and prayers! You guys are great! n.

Too-- At Mount Carmel they suggest the Band if your BMI is 50 or less. They do tend to suggest GB if you have diabetes. They are very clear that the band is a much slower weight loss, but you tend to have equal results a year out...good luck!

TM--I am so sorry to hear about all that has happend when I was gone! I am sure that Mt Carmel will accept everything that you have done, and maybe you can still be an april/may bandster! I had plans of starting a liquid diet before surgery, but I have spent the last two days stuck in our driveway. I really need to get out tomorrw...I have all of the things to buy before surgery on the 12th!!! I am not really nervous yet, but my Hubby is having a really hard time the closer it gets. Last night he just broke down...I felt so bad. Maybe I am strong because I know he isn't...guess that is why we make such a great team! Anyways...keep warm and stay safe! n

Alrighty then ladies...I will start March off on the 12th and you guys quickly follow me. We WILL do this!!! Sue, I am not really scared yet. I don't know if it is bc we are leaving for Disney in 4 days and I still can't find our suitcases, or if it is I have been wanting this for soooo long that I feel relieved it is going to happen. I know the other ladies I did my pre-op testing with last week said they were starting to get nervous. I think the only thing I am worried about it getting "put out" with a general. I have not done well with it in the past, and I have a terrible family history with it, so it make me nervous. I think Mt carmel is a great hospital and I have complete faith in our doctors/nurses and other staff (Michelle, Melissa, ect) that I believe we ALL will do just fine. Welcome cjose and hinger! We are always looking for new friends and stories, so glad you came! _niki

Oh my...that sounds terrible QT! It makes my heart race hearing you tell the story, I can only imagine how scared you were! Thank Goodness you had the right mindset to rush him to the dentist rather than the ER...He would have lost the teeth for sure! I can only imagine how he must have looked...the face and head are so bloody when cut!

Heather--I do know what you mean. I did Jenny Craig a few years ago and lost 50lbs. I think when people started to really compliment me, and I started getting more attention, everything backfired...and I sabotaged everything! I guess this time we need for work harder on the emotional side of why we are overweight...deal with more of the issues that we bury with food!

KT-- I would call the office and have them page the on call doctor! If you don't hear back, I would go to the ER. You would rather be safe and get it checked out, right? Good luck, and keep us updated! Special K--YAH!!!! I am so glad you got the news you have been waiting for...maybe you, sue and I will be March 12 buddies?!?!?! Joy--there is a one-on-one with Michelle that needs to be completed before you see the doctor and submit for insurance coverage. After that there are two other classes before surgery and one a week out...but they were all scheduled after I had a surgery date... Lady QT--were you at the support group meeting earlier this month? I talked with someone after the meeting who had trouble with their first fill...just wondering if that was you??? Debbie--I was already done and gone before you were at dr choban's office. I did spend the am with the ladies you got to meet. They were very nice. Deb
