  1. When I over eat I have shoulder pain and hiccups. It's a slow process to teach yourself to listen to your body and not your eyes. I don't get my first fill until Feb 11 so I hope I can keep everything in check and not gain any weight back.

    Brownies!! Yikes!!

To add your code, go to your profile signature and "edit". Paste the code there. Do the same thing every time you want to update your weight.

    I am banded!!!

I alternated Gas X and Bean-O. Walk a lot and you can even try laying your back. It's horrible, most of us have been there. Oh, and drink Water, too.

    Brownies!! Yikes!!

You replace the oil with applesauce. Use the exact same amount (1/4 cup oil equals 1/4 cup applesauce). I learned that tip from Weight Watchers. They taste fine but they don't rise as high. I did the switch on a guy that I was dating a couple of years ago. He said they taste fine but they look different. I made it about 5 hours before I caved and told him what was different. But I had the weight problem, not him. So he agreed to the compromise. I don't see anything wrong with us enjoying treats. No one can expect to NEVER eat a treat for rest of our lives. But, I agree, you can't bring trigger foods in the house. I always had trigger foods in the house because I thought I was being economical. It's cheaper to buy the larger bag vs. an individual serving. But in the end (literally) it wasn't economical at all. I take joy in discovering my bad habits and finding a healthy alternative. We can do this!

    Salad

According to my notes, you can't have fresh fruit and veggies until you're on the last stage. I suggest you take some Bean-O with you (better safe than sorry).

    Low Iron

My iron has been low since I was a teenager. My doctor just told me to start taking Vitamin C, it helps with the absorption of iron. Also, when taking calcium and iron supplements, make sure they're 2 hours apart. Just like another posted stated, calcium will always be absorbed when competing with other Vitamins. And, yes, you have to get used to taking them daily. Good luck!
  7. Oh, I feel for you. I was there last Saturday. I never had any gas until 10 days post op. It was in my shoulders and the top of my stomach. Unfortunately nothing was moving in my stomach, I couldn't expel it nor could I burp. It last for about 12 hours, even though I was taking Bean-o and Gas X. The chewable Gas X worked best for me. I told my surgeon about it, he recommended drinking Water, walking and laying on my back. It was by far one of the worst things I have experienced. I feel for you and try to do everything I can not be in the situation ever again. I take Gas X if I THINK I might have a gas problem. Good luck!
  8. I'm healing up well. I am on step 3 of the diet and tolerating it well. My energy level is up and I'm starting to feel like myself again. I go back to work on the 18th so I still have a little time. How are you doing?

    Weight Loss

Congratulations! 100 pounds is a tremendous success. You're proof that persistence does pay off.
  10. I blended my own foods. I had some meatballs in the freezer and they were great blended with some added gravy. I added a scoop of protein mix to oatmeal and cream of wheat. You will need some creativity to get through this stage.
  11. OMG, and the same birthdate...although I was in college when you were born. :-)

  12. Hi, I was banded Dec 29 and i'm in Columbus. Congrats on your success. Let's keep in touch.

  13. The first week was a little rough; I'm almost two weeks out now. No regrets. But it is truly a lifestyle change. I'll definitely be praying for you!

  14. I'm only two weeks post op. Do you feel any pain after a fill? My doctor wants me to wait 8 weeks before my first fill. The surgery was so painful for me, I'm hoping a fill isn't. Thanks,

    Mushy food madness

I'm two weeks post op. I really struggled with the mushy diet after the first week. But I just had my appointment yesterday and my doctor moved me to step 3 diet. He told me to slowly introduce new solid foods (one per meal). I haven't had any problems with any foods. I admit I haven't really measured or tracked my protein very much either. I only eat on small teacup saucer plates (my eyes are always bigger than my stomach). I have to find ways to trick myself now for success later.
  16. Hi, I'm just checking in with you. How are you doing?

  17. I had my surgery on Dec 29. I was in pain! It was way worse than I could ever imagine. I had dry heaves twice. It has taken me up until now to feel better. This was not a cake walk like I was anticipating. I have no regrets, but the pain was unbelievable! Stay strong, it will get better.
  18. I'm four days post op and haven't have a bowel movement yet. I started passing gas Saturday night. Ive been eating fiber rich foods and taking my stool softener. How long before you had one?
  19. I just got banded so I don't have any suggestions. But 28 pounds for two and a half months doesn't sound bad. Stay encouraged!
  20. I can't believe today is finally here. I'm so excited (and nervous and scared, but still excited)! It's hard to be up and not be able to drink anything. I took my blood pressure medicine with a sip of water. Well, say a prayer for me. I'll update you guys when I'm able to.
  21. I'm on the 29th, too. Let's keep in touch. I'm on my way to the hospital now. Good luck!

    Dec 30th for Me

I'm on the 29th. And I'm nervous, too. I've told everyone what I'm doing. I hated to tell the people I work with. But I'm going to be out of the office for three weeks (vacation before surgery) so I had to tell them something. I was eating a rice krispy treat today. One of my "lovely" co-workers walked in wagging his stinking finger at me. After I shot him an ugly look, he dropped it. This is the part I hate. Everyone wants to comment on what you should or should not be doing. I went through this with Weight Watchers. Ah, forget them all. I'm getting banded on Dec 29 @ 8: 15 a.m. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!
  23. Hello, Ladies. I'm having mine on Dec 29. I'm glad to see your post. I was beginning to think I was by myself this week. I didn't have to do a pre-op diet, but I'm still trying to cut back on my food intake. I'm not nervous about the surgery, but I'm really nervous about the day after. Even though I feel very educated about the process...I feel like I don't know enough. I know, crazy, right? My friend had gastric bypass in 2003, she's coming to stay with me for a couple of days. Eight days and counting!!!!
  24. I'm getting nervous! Not about the surgery, but about life afterwards. I thought the six months would never pass but now I feel like I don't know enough. LOL. What kind of foods did you eat after surgery?

  25. Oh my gosh, I thought I would never get to post my surgery date. But finally!!!! Two weeks from now I finally get banded. Oh, I'm so excited (and scared and nervous). I cleaned out my cabinets today (because I'll be on vacation for a week before the surgery). I have to dust off my books from class. I don't know what to pack the cabinets and fridge with.
