You need to find something you like. I know you may think that may not happen, I thought that. I joined a Wellness center where I take water aerobics and dance movement (similar to zumba). I can also workout on the machines but that is not my favorite.

I use a daily log on fatsecret.com. It sinks with my Droid. I have found it very helpful to log my food. This helps me track my protein and calorie intake. My favorite blog is theworldaccordingtoeggface Shelly has the best recipes.

My Dr. says no bread, rice or pasta, but my nutritionist is trying to tell me I should be able to handle these items now. I was banded on July 28. What does your Dr say about bread, rice & pasts?

Have you called the doctor about the shaky feeling? I was not feeling well and they moved me to puree diet one week early. I was not getting enough protien on the liquid diet. You should get between 60 - 100 gms.

phone apps that keep track of calories
quilterlu posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was at the Dr. office last week he suggested I get an app on my phone to keep track of calories, protein etc. If you have an Iphone the app is called looseit. I have a Droid so I went looking for an app. I downloaded 3 and here is the best one: calorie counter. It has a food diary where you call log everything you eat. All the restaurants & chains, popular brands, supermarket brands and about every food I have needed to find. It gives calories, fat, carbs, proteins, fibers & sugar. It will total for the meal and day and sync it with a website called fatsecret.com if you need to print a report. Here is the best feature it has a bar scan reader. Click – focus and all the info is in your food diary. I would never write down what I eat but I will click, click, click. Hope someone finds this useful. -

I found a great website that will calculate calories and nutrition information for recipes you might have or find on the web missing this information. Recipe Calculator , http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-calculator.asp -
did anyone cheat on the post op diet?
quilterlu replied to dreamskin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It totally depends upon your doctors guidelines. I had trouble on full liquids with my blood sugars so they advanced the schedule a week. Talk to your doctor. -
July banders-work together
quilterlu replied to Nicole74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Garland417 this may sound supid but at the last support meeting they said if you are not eating enough you will not lose weight. Your protein should be 70+ gm and 700 - 1000 calories. You are definitely walking more than I am. They also said the weight lose is 0 - 2 lbs a week. The speaker said remember I said zero! So I take this to mean do not be discouraged. 12 lbs is great! -

Dawn5115, moving to mushie is so nice. I have now moved to soft foods so I am exploring a few more foods. If you like califlower besure to puree it - tastes really good. You reminded me why I did not tell anyone I have been banded. My family knows but I did not want to be plagued with 'how much have you lost". This is a life changer and a much slower weight lose than gasteric bypass. I do not think the general public understands. Hang in there. How is everyone else doing? -
The Master List...

Someone else suggested having clean sheets when you get home. I did not sleep in a recliner so the bed felt really good. ISOPURE is a clear liquid protein drink you can get at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe. -

July banders-work together

I am 11 days post op and finally feeling really good. I have been on puree foods since Tue. one week early because I was having trouble getting enough cal. At first it was hard to eat but for the last couple of days I have been able to eat without much problem. I am even getting hungry, I guess the next stage is bandster-hell:smile2: -
I don't think diarrhea is unusual. After I finally got unplugged from the anesthesiology & pain killers I had diarrhea too until I was on puree foods.

July banders-work together
quilterlu replied to Nicole74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too am glad for this post. I thought I was the only one not getting along very well. I was banded on July 28, Wed., then on Sunday I started to break out in cold sweats. Monday I called the Dr. & talked to a nurse, she said to start full liquids and make sure I was getting plenty of fluids. Continued to have the same problem so I visited the Dr office on Tue. He put me on pureed foods (one wk early), it seems I was not eating enough. I am to eat between 800- 1000 calories, 80-100 gm of protein, & 80-100 oz. of liquid. It has not been until today that I finally felt better. I can not believe I am even saying this but 1000 calories has been a problem to consume. One problem I am having is that the pureed food must come from an animal. No potatoes, rice, pasta or bread. I get the last 3 but no potatoes or vetables! I do drink the shakes to up the protein. Hope everyone else is starting to feel better. I am retired so I do not know how some of you went back to work so soon. You are made of strong stuff:thumbup:. Lu -

Prior to every thinking about bandind I tried 'Acai Berry'. My credit card was charged with 2 bottles and then they shared my number with 3 other companies. I had a mess for a while. Got all the money refunded but it was a pain. -
luvTexas, I buy iSUPURe are GNC store. It is clear with 40 gm of protien and comes in a lot of flavors. Blue raspberry is my favoriate. Four days after surgery and I am feeling pretty good hope everyone else is feeling better.

I think you must be lucky Luvtexas, I was banded on July 28. I have had some pain and the gas pain in the hospital was bad. Each day the pain is much better and I move much easier. As for eating I feel fullness at the base of my throat. Even when taking all my meds in the morning with coffee I can feel the fullness. It is real similar to heart burn for me. It probably feels different for each individual. My Dr. put in 4cc at surgery. I try to drink an Isopure each day 40gm of Protein, it takes me all day to get it down.

How much support is your spouse giving you?
quilterlu replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel sorry for you thatgurl. My hd has been a great support to me also. I was banded on July 28 and he was right there holding my hand. One of the things that helped was he went to a support meeting with me where many talked about their process and success. He felt much better about the banding after the support group. -

quilterlu replied to tab1975's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am going to be banded tomorrow also :scared2: I am definitely hungry right now but I just keep thinking I am going to loose weight! YEA! Yes I am nervous about the next few weeks but from what I read and hear it will get much better after week 4. Hang in there. -
I am to be banded on Wed. July 28. It would really be nice to have a mentor through this process. I am a retired married college professor who has a very supportive husband but also one that is on the normal size.:smile2:
