    Day One Need Help

I was banded Tuesday 6/29/10 at 3:00 pm. Was not allowed ANYTHING until my GI test was done the following morning Wednesday. They started me with ice chips. After about 2 hours I was then given clear broth, herbal tea and Crystal Lite. That stayed down fine. A little later that evening I had chicken broth and Sugar Free Popsicle. Thursday at home I had 1 Isopure Shake (50 grams) protein., 1 Carnation Instant Breakfast with 8 oz skim milk (14 grams) protein, 1 cup tomato soup made skim milk. I also had Sugar Free Jello. Same for Friday . I had 5.3 oz Greek Yogurt this morning. Kept it down fine. So far so good! Good luck to you!

  7. Hi there, I was banded 6/29 at 3:00 pm. My Dr. said I could have my 1st shower 48 hours after surgery, which technically would have been yesterday at 3:00pm, however, I waited until this morning because I too posted questions about my first shower. I took off the big bandages when I showered, but left the steristrips on. I was told they will come off on there own. I showered with my back to the water so my incissions wouldn't get soaked. I also used antibacterial soap, Ahhhh...never felt better! Dried off very carefully. I have been drinking protein shakes, Carnation Instant breakfast (no sugar added) with skim milk, chicken broth, tomato soup (made with skim milk), sugar free popsicles, sugar free jello, Crystal light and alot of water. Tomorrow I am going to try plain greek yogurt. In the next few days I will try Cream of Wheat. Also taking HBP meds by mouth (cut in half) and chewable vitamins and calcium. So far so GOOD. NO great hunger or pain. Finally had bowel movement today yay! Good Luck:thumbup:

    Diarrhea?

I was banded Tuesday 6/29/10 and I am VERY constipated. This is hrrible for me because I usually go 2 - 3 times a day. Trying to drink plenty of water, hopefully this will help.:tt1:
  9. My Dr. said it would be ok to shower 48 hours after surgery. Well 48 hours has passed and I am ready to shower. I just took a peek under the bandages and it looks like there are little strips of tape over the incissions. Do I remove those or leave them on?:tt1:

    1st Shower after Surgery

Thank you for that bit of info:thumbup:
  11. I too had my Lap Band Surgery 6/29/10. I had to be at the hospital at 1:00 pm for a 3:00 scheduled surgery ( I was the last one for the day), but got there around 12:30 p.m. ( I was little anxious) . It was 2:00 before they called me back to pre - op area. Once I got changed into my beautiful tie in the back gown, the nurse asked me a few questions then gave me a shot in my stomach. (Blood thinner). Pretty soon the Anesthesiologist came in and asked me a few questions and explained what he would be doing once we got the OR. My Dr. arrived next, asked a few questions and said we would be getting started soon. I was a little scared, but knew I was going to be ok. The OR nurse came to get me. Once we got to the OR she helped me schooch onto another bed. ( I remember this bed being very narrow). She told me to put my arms out to my side and BOOM thats all I remember!! Next thing I know I am in recovery and it is about 4:30 ish. I fell fine, NO pain, just alittle sore throat. I am taking up to my room about 6:00. Very thirsty, but told I can not have anything to drink until G I test is done in the morning. But I was given some swabs to suck on. They did help. Dosed in and out until about 12:00 am when I turned the tv off. Only remember using PC a couple of times during the night. Pain not as bad as I thought it would be. Woke up at about 5:30 am experiencing a little more pain. Had GI test about 8:00 and at 9:30 given the ok for ice chips. I tolerated the ice just fine. Had lunch consisting of chicken broth, herbal tea and crystal light. Went down ok although by the time I finished broth was cold. Still tasted good though. I was released to go home at 3:00pm at have been home less that 24 hours. Feel great, just a little tender at port site. Liquid diet is keeping me full. Took regular BP meds by mouth this morning as well as chewable vitamins and chewable calcuim. Wish I could poo though (usually go 2 to 3 times a day) lol. Can't wait to take a shower tomorrow either. Very happy with my experience thus far!!!!
  12. I am drinking Isopure Zero Carb Protein, purchased at GNC. 50 Grams of protein per shake. I have only had one, since I have only been home less than 24 hours. It took me about 1 hour to get 12 oz down. Filled me up though the night. I bought Cookies and Cream, mix with water, tastes OK , but think I will try milk next time!
