When did you return to work?

Unfortunately no. My boss said I have to be 100% before I come back and Doc agreed. It's ok though, I am enjoying time off with my daughter who is on summer vacation.

When did you return to work?

I work at a grocery store as a Checker, lifting 50 lb bags of Dog Food and Kitty liter, not to mention cases of beer, soda and water. I had my surgery 6/29/10 and Doc. has me off work until 7/26 for a total of 4 weeks.
  3. I am only 3 weeks post op and I am not getting more than 850 calories a day on liquids and purees. Is this normal? I want to make sure I am doing this right. I see alot of posts saying people are getting 1000 to 1500 calories a day.
  4. You STOP that right now!!!!! You have lost 21 POUNDS. That is AWESOME! In just 5 days. You are being WAY to hard on your self. Remember how long it took you to get where you were before your surgery? The weight will come off over time. Also, remember, the Lapband is a tool, not a miracle worker. Hang in there and hold your head up with PRIDE!!

    Inspire Protein Products

Hi there, I bought Isopure Cookies and Cream. 2 scoops mixed with 12 ozs. water for 50 grams of protein. Tastes ok, but mistake I made was I bought the 3 lb. container, makes 22 shakes. I am getting pretty tired of it and if I don't ever have something flavored Cookies and cream again, it will be too soon. LOL

    1st fill feels funny

Did you find out what caused your band erosion?
  9. I don't know, being a NEWBIE and all, but it sounds like to me, your band might be too full. Everything I read says at your "sweet spot" you should be able to eat 2-4 ounces and feel full, but not so full that you vomit.

    Missing your old foods?

It sounds like, too me, that you are not eating enough. I am 2 weeks out and only had 1/4 soup per meal for the first few days. Once the swelling subsided, I was able to increase my portion to 1/2 to 1 cup of soup. I was confused because everything we read says our pouch will only hold 2-4 ounces of food. When I talked to my nutritionist she explained that when I am in the "Green Zone" or my "Sweet Spot" I will only be able to consume 2-4 ounces per meal. In the mean time she says I will be able to hold more because of lack of restriction. I am now on mushies, still eating about 1 cup of food per meal and watching my scale move almost daily! I do drink ALOT ALOT ALOT of water! I use my Protein shake between Breakfast and Lunch (50 Grams of protein). Between Lunch and dinner I have 1/2 sugar free jello or sugar free popsicles or sugar free fudgesicle. When I feel hungar pangs coming on I drink water and it really seems to tide me over. This is not going to be easy, but I know it will work! Hang in there.

    Why??

I was banded the day before you. The morning of my surgery, at home I weighed (naked) 225. This morning (naked) I weighed 216. A total of 9 lbs lost according to my home scale. Today at my post op Dr. appt, the Doc said he had my weight as 221 (clothed) the day of surgery and 217 (clothed) today. A total of 4 lbs. lost. So, I have been thinking I was doing great, but after what he told me today (which he says is good weight loss for just 10 days) I am feeling a little down..........especially because I am hungry.

    Normal???

I am 10 days out. I was waking up in the morning the first 7 - 8 days with ALOT of back pain, but I am ok now.
  13. AWESOME!! To both of you

    Successful Surgery

I, too, felt just like you did after surgery. I am 10 days out and feel real good, just starting to get more hungry now. Saw Doc for the post op appt today, he says 1 more week of full liquids diet. I had 2cc put in a 10 cc band the day of surgery and go back to see him again 7/30 I am thinking for 2nd fill.

    Protein Shake help !

I made the Major mistake of buying the 3lb Bottle of Isopure Cookies and Cream powder. $50.00 some odd dollars a piece. You mix 2 scoops with 12 ozs of water for 50 grams of protein. It's not ALL that bad tasting, but I am just sick of it. There are 22 servings in the 3 lb bottle. I have about half of the bottle left, So my advice is DON"T buy the HUGE bottles.
  16. I have only had my band 10 days. I have a 10cc Band which was filled 2cc the day of surgery. The first 4 days, while I was still swollen, were sweet because I had NO hunger. Now I am getting pretty hungry, but I am still on the liquids. Saw my Dr. today for the first time since surgery. He says 1 more week of liquids and come back and see him in three weeks. I see him again 7/30........sure hope I am getting another fill then!!

    NSV: Wow I felt special!!!

    AWESOME!!! and congratulations!
  18. My Dr. say no Coffee post op initially. I JUST couldn't do it. I have followed everything else to a tee. I have up'd my water intake to compinsate for the diuretic issue and have limited myself to 1 small cup in the morning diluted.

    Hey!

Hey Marrisa, I too was banded 6/29/10. I wasn't in as much pain as you were, but I did have major gas. It has subsided a bit now. I am empty still as well. Up until today, I really didn't feel hungry. I am still on full liquid, per Dr.s orders. I see him Friday 7/5/10 and so hope I will be advanced to mushies. Best of luck to you my fellow Bandster!

    Labor Day Challenge

"clap, clap, clap" "fist pump, fist pump, fist pump" "^5, ^5, ^5" YAY........I am so excited. I am a new bandster, banded 6/29/10. So excited for my first challenge. I am going to shoot for 20 lbs. Good luck to all:tt2: **********Labor Day Challenge**********
  21. I have been banded for 4 days and am wondering how much protein is appropriate. My nutritionist said at least 60 grams a day. I am drinking Isopure Low Carb Protein which gives me 50 grams in 1 shake. I am getting the other 10 grams from skim milk. So far I have had only 1 protein shake a day.......am I getting enough? Feel fine and not hungry:huh2:
  22. Thanks! Don't want to over do it
