Sept. 2010 Bandsters !!!
onmyway72 replied to Brian-LA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a year Sept 7th and have only lost 50lbs. I say only 50, but 50 is better than none. I am disappointed in my loss, especially when a close friend of mine had it done end of June this year and already has lost 47lbs. She did start with a full band though. Congrats to all of you who lost 100+ pounds so far!! What an accomplishment! I think any weight loss is better than a weight gain. I already have 11cc in a 14cc band. I am thinking I should have went with the bypass. I was against it when I went to the Dr to begin my weight loss journey, but now have regrets about my decision. I want to see what my options are for a revision surgery, but not sure if insurance will cover it now that my BMI is lower than requirement level. If I can't get a revision then I will have to be happy with what I have. My Dr said your first year is the best year..hopefully I can prove him wrong! -

I made it through 2 big birthday parties back to back this weekend! I have to admit it was hard watching others eat, but I brought my protien shakes, which are chocolate, and I drank while they ate cake and ice cream! -

Thanks pooky032281 for your response. I wasn't sure if that was something I should bother him with. I will give the service a call and see what they say tomorrow. It still seems tender and I guess he used a marker because I see some dark areas, but not sure if I should be concerned about it. -

I was wondering what your doctor told you to do with your incision site after surgery? I was banded on 9/7/10 and I am not sure when my dr said to remove the liquid bandage..or it appears to be a liquid bandage...site is sore still and swollen. I was pretty drugged up when he told me what to do and I can't find it written down on my discharge paperwork. Of course the dr's office is closed and it's the weekend. Thanks, Sandy -

My Dr did the one port hidden in the bellybutton just like Brian's Dr. Today is day 2 postop and I can't wait to get off this clear liquid diet. My biggest craving is for milk which I can have starting tomorrow. Tomorrow I begin full liquids. -

Hello everyone. Surgery was today and I was home by 5pm. Sore and I have pressure in my chest/stomach area...I think its the gas pressure I head others talk about. I had to do barrium swallow test before I could leave and that stuff tasted horrible! I have one port hole which is inside my bellybutton. If wasn't for gas pain..I think I would be quite well...but we shall see tomorrow how it goes! Think I will sleep setting up tonight. Having trouble getting all the fluids in this evening. -

Tomorrow begins my clear liquid diet. Went to the store and bought liquid vitamins, but not sure what to do about the iron supplements because all that I saw were in pill form. Also, I had a toothache about 2 weeks ago and went to the dentist and found out I have a cracked tooth below gum line. He put me on amoxicillin for 7 days and the pain went away. He said he would put a refill on it in case I need one. He wanted to wait until after my surgery to extract the tooth, then implant. Thursday night the tooth began to ache again and I started the amoxicillin right away. Now I am wondering if I can still go forward with my surgery on 9/7/10..... I REALLY don't want to have to reschedule it....I called the pharmacy and the pharmacist said I can still be on amoxicillin and have surgery. :-( -

Well I had my preop done today, just need to get my bloodwork done. I am a little concerned as last Friday I developed a toothache and dentist put me on penicilln now. Praying it doesn't change my surgery date! I have to say I am looking forward to the time off from work also! -

Hi, I also was given a surgery date before submitting for insurance approval. I have a surgery date of 9/7/10 at this point. I had to do the 6 months of nutrition visits prior to insurance review. -
Finally hit the -130 lbs mark! It just isn't coming off like it used to :) This is less than 8 months post-op.
