    Please help !!!!!

I'm VERY new at this, banded 7/19, but I think it may help to have a few posts of what other newbies are eating & going thru so we can keep everything in perspective. So, I'll start with y'day: Supplements: 40gm proteing drink, Multivitamin, liquid B12, 3 gas-x Food: 5 mini Reese's PB Cups, 2 spoons of spaghetti sauce, boiled egg, & a few kernels of popcorn. Not a nutritious day & the reason for the gas-x is clear. But, today is a new day LB family!!!

    I had my surgery July 22, 2010

Congrats!! I was banded on the 19th. And I think you should advance the diet SLOWLY as tolerated. I'm about to start posting a food journal to the HELP!! thread. Maybe we can all see how different our band experiences are in reference to our diets - but it's ok. We're all right where we're supposed to be. Sorry for sounding churchy but it is Sunday. ha!

    Please help !!!!!

Well, don't beat yourself up. It's over & done with. Just focus on getting back in the saddle now. Protein!!! Drink some Protein shakes & plan out what you're going to eat tomorrow & drink lots of Water. The protein will make you feel full.
  4. No approval. Unfortunately, I had to pay out of pocket. :(((

    What the HELL

Which Protein Bars? I've gotta get them!
  6. Pain is not bad at all. I was just banded on Monday & I've only taken about 5 doses of pain meds. Surgery was Monday, dose Monday afternoon & bedtime, I actually drove on Tuesday morning (real short. 5 min drive), dose Tuesday afternoon, went to a friend's house Tuesday night, dose Tuesday at bedtime, & Wednesday bedtime. I felt like somebody punched me in my stomach, but it was more of an inconvenience. Hate dropping things because it's difficult to bend. Turning over at night is difficult. Gas is bad but pain doesn't linger. Port site is sore & coughing hurts. But, with the exception of the quick 5 second bouts of pain, you'll be fine. The key is to stay medicated the first day. After that, you're good.
  7. What are the protein bullets? I'm leaving on a trip next week. Thanks for any info.

    Banded July 20th

Yep, I have the shoulder pain too-it's that terrible gas. If I didn't know better, I'd swear it was a heart attack. But, I can feel it move around & then come up. And that port is really kind of sticking out. Hopefully that will start to go down too. I hope you enjoy your soup tomorrow! Happy Bday to the DH! Enjoy!! Just remember to sip it slowly & you'll be fine.

Hey Lageil. Congrats! Glad you don't have gas pains. I've got bad gas pains, swelly belly, & the grapefruit (ha! that's funny)! All my stuff is on my left side though. I guess the gas will go away when my body finishes absorbing all the carbon dioxide gas they blow us up with during surgery. But, the swollen belly & grapefruit - I don't know. When does that go away? I've kind of advanced my own diet. I drink a ton of protein (80 gms today), but I've started eating a little bit. I just chew extra long & eat extra slow. And, I had a smoothie today. yay!

    Day 3 & Still Hungry

Hi Mo. I totally feel ya! I'm day 3 post-op & I complained about that pre-op diet too. But let me tell you what helped me - protein! It really helped keep the appetite away. I'd tried protein diets in the past but I found the key is a very high protein liquid diet. I bought Isopure Zero (not Isopure Complete) from GNC & also Arbonne's Figure 8 Shakes & consumed about 100 grams of protein/day. Give that a try because the amount of liquid you are consuming plus the high levels of protein, you will feel better.

    Banded July 20th

Oreo, I was banded on the 19th! I think the worst thing is the upper gi gas & feeling like I got punched in the stomach (I can't take a deep breath). Ummm...I've advanced my diet a little bit more. I've eaten some seafood but nothing dense & definitely not a lot at all. Glad to see your date is essentially the same as mine. Nice to go through this with someone else.

    "You weren't that big?!?!"

Good for you! I am 3 days post-op & only told 3 people besides my husband. My BMI was 36 & in conversations with my friends, everyone was saying that I didn't need it or don't have enough to lose. That's when I made the decision to limit the people that I told. Looking forward to losing!!!
