Had the lapband surgery on Nov 5th of 2008.  Did really well at first but then in May of 2009 i went for my 3rd adjustment and that is when i started haveing serious complications.  i think the dr that tightened my band caused the precursors to a major slip, which they wouldnt find until January 2010.  From May to January were the worst months ever.  I constantly threw up and could only eat liquids or extremely runny/soft foods.  I was tired all of the time because i wasnt getting enough food, but yes i did loose alot of weight but i was miserable.  After three differnt emergency room visits, multiple x-rays, and horrible side pain, they finally found in Januarly 2010 that i had a slip band...and it was probably there for a while.  I had the corrective surgery on March 8, 2010 and now am doing well.  I did gain some weight back after this second surgery, but hope to drop it quickly.im constantly scared that my band will slip again and when i was really sick i considered just keeping it out.  Im not sure if i would recommend this surgery to anyone, because yes it has helped me to start my weightloss journey, but it has also put me through so much misery with the complications and costs, especially because i had to pay for my second corrective surgery as well.  I am not happy about that especially since i believe it happened when the dr filled my band way too tight.as for now, im hoping that within a year i can get down to my mini goal weight of 195, and eventually my ultimate goal of 172.  After that, i might consider plastic surgery to take away excess skin that has already started forming.
