    Eating to much symptoms

I haven't eaten too much yet - I'm still very carefully measuring everything and since I'm still modified liquids it all goes down pretty quickly. However, I have noticed my nose runs a little when I eat even if it's only a little bit. It's very odd.
  2. Hi Lys! My surgery was 12/31 and I'm at about the same 10 lbs. Overall I'm doing well though. I am getting my water in every day. I have missed my protein all but a couple days, but I've been pretty close. I still get tired mid-day and I'm not back to work yet but overall pretty happy with my progress.
  3. How is everyone doing now that we are about 11 days out? Feeling better? Are you able to get your water and protein in?
  4. So excited, today I am 50 lbs down from when I started the entire journey. 41.6 of that was pre-surgery and the last 8 has been since surgery a week ago. Crazy to think how far I still have to go, but for today, celebrating where I am at! Lori

    NYE 2019 surgery date twin?

Steve, not a fan of shrimp but the broccoli cheese sounds good. I’ve made a couple protein shake mixes that have been pretty good. First is a double shot of decaf espresso in a thing of premier chocolate protein with ice. It tastes like a mocha latte. It’s just really filling. Also done a strawberry protein shake with collagen and PB2 and some SF strawberry syrup that was pretty good. I only drank half but with the collagen and PB2 half was 24g protein.
  7. Agreed. I also think I'm seeing a pattern where the sleeve patients need to be a little more conservative than RNY at first, but obviously not statistically significant. And even then, there seems to be a ton of variation. My Dr. had me on clear liquids the first 2 days (they actually had me on broth the night of surgery). Now I am on modified full liquids until 2 weeks. It's any liquid and then things like greek yogurt, cottage cheese (chewed REALLY well), strained soup, even watered down cream of wheat (although I haven't tried that yet).

How is everyone doing today? I feel like the bloating is starting to go down which is making me much more comfortable. Other than that, just trying to sip sip sip all day.

    Surgery 12/30

I had RNY on 12/31. My belly is definitely still swollen and I get tired very quickly. No way could I walk a mile right now. I’m just doing laps around the house right now. I hope to start outside in a couple of day’s. my pain isn’t too bad and I can stand up straight. I can’t bend over easily due to the bloating but have picked things up,off the floor when I had too.
  10. I’m doing really well. I’m off pain meds today and am a little tired but otherwise ok. I’ve met my fluid goals each day. I’ve been close to protein (met 1 day) but to do that I feel like I’m putting something in my mouth all day - I know that I’m eating just a tiny amount but between 3 meals (2 oz soup or Greek yogurt) and the 2 protein shakes I need to get protein it is really hard. you?

    December Surgeries!

I had RNY on 12/31 so I'm 3 days out. So far things are going pretty well. I have a little pain but I've been able to control it with Tylenol since Day 1. I'm on modified liquids which with my Dr. includes greek yogurt and cottage cheese. I'm only "eating" 2 oz three times a day, and then trying to get protein shakes and liquids in the rest of the time yet I feel like all I am doing is eating all day. I did pretty good with liquids and protein yesterday though I didn't quite make my goals. I'm hopeful I can today. I did some measurements right before I went in so I know I'm still pretty bloated (my waist is still 2" bigger today than pre-surgery). Did anyone else track that and if so, how long until the bloating went away?
  12. I'm sorry you are struggling. My understanding is swelling generally peeks 48-72 hours after an injury or surgery and you are still in that window. Hopefully, as swelling goes down the pain and nausea will as well and you'll start to be able to get food and more liquids in.

    Hospital Bag

I took way to much to the hospital. All I ended up needing was: - Outfit I wore there I wore home - Hard soled slippers (rather than try to put on shoes to go home) - Chapstick - Phone As others mentioned, I was in a hospital gown and hospital provided anti-slip socks the whole time. They even provided a toothbrush and toothpaste (may be good to bring your own just in case). I pretty much slept, walked the halls, watched a little tv, and repeated

    NYE 2019 surgery date twin?

Hope everyone is doing well this morning. Steve, hope your pain is much improved! I'm doing pretty well today. I got some decent sleep and have been sipping fluids and had some greek yogurt for breakfast. I needed a couple tylenol this am - I was a little worried since they sent me home with pills but so far so good.

    NYE 2019 surgery date twin?

Steve, so sorry for your pain. I hope it has passed now. Cutebutcrzy - congrats! I hope you are still feeling well. LovingLV, I had my band out in August and my surgeon told me going in he would only do it in two surgeries. Even with the delay my bypass took an extra hour as he had to clean up some scar tissue so waiting is probably for the best. brooksbrittanyanne: congrats! I hope you are feeling well a couple days after your surgery! Feel free to chime in here and share you story with us! Overall my pain has been pretty minimal. I took a small dose of hydrocodone 2 time in the hospital, but the rest of the time I was OK with just Tylenol. I did try to walk every couple of hours. Now that I am home I am definitely feeling the bloat and some related pain. I've got an ice pack on and took a hydocodone which isn't doing much. I'll walk around the house some more to see if that helps it move quicker. My biggest challenge is I didn't sleep much in the hospital - just too much noise and movement. I'm hoping I'm able to sleep tonight.

Surgery done and in my room. Overall doing ok. Sipping water already.
  17. I actually slept for about 6 hours last night, then tossed and turned for another 2 which is a pretty normal night for me. I was shocked.

    NYE 2019 surgery date twin?

I actually slept last night which was a nice surprise, but I'm up and have 2 hours to kill before I need to leave for the hospital and the nerves are really settled in nicely. I can actually feel my heart beating faster than normal.
  20. In addition to what you posted I have: a set of 100 2oz containers with lids. I made a bunch of SF Jello w/ unflavored protein powder and SF Pudding and pre-portioned them so they are quick for the first few days. I also have a bunch of Premier Protein shakes in a variety of flavors I have a bunch of Nectar protein in fruit flavors. I made a froze a couple batches of pureed soups and have a cup of each thawing in the freezer. I bought Gas-X and stool softeners (my surgeon recommended I start the stool softners this weekend (Tue surgery) so I did. My fridge and cupboard are both stocked and ready to go when I get back from the hospital.
  21. No Magnesium citrate. Tomorrow I do have to drink a "Carb drink" - about 2 hours before I go in at 9:45 am. I'm prepared for it to be super sweet but hope to be wrong.

Congratulations - are you with Kaiser or someone else? If Kaiser, I may see you in the hospital! If not, best of luck and I'll join you just a few hours later.
  23. Congratulations! Are you feeling ready? I've done everything around the house to prepare and now the waiting begins...
  24. I'm already starting to drive myself crazy! I took Monday off work and I'm starting to think maybe I shouldn't have - at least I'd be busy. As it is I'm excited and nervous and terrified on a rotating loop
