-
Did everyone notice the TICKER MOVED!!!!! HEY, HEY, HEY!!!!
-
Welcome Bandanna.... Is that a "former" or "future" picture of you on you aviatar? It's difficult to see, but it looks like a female bodybuilder... Anyway....welcome!!!
-
Nina---PICK YOURSELF UP!!! We all fall...but it's the getting up that's important. We need you on this board...so I'm praying for ya!!! Toni--Don't pitch the "fake bullet".....I went out and bought one after reading your post. I plan on using it when I can go to "real food" in the beginning. The first thing I'm going to make in it is crab salad and then chicken salad.....For my Protein shakes I use a single serving blender that I bought at Wal-Mart. It's by Hamilton Beach $15.88. It's terrific. I put frozen fruit in with the protein and milk and it has never failed to blend perfectly smooth shakes (with no chuncks) I have set an exercise goal for myself--I HATE EXERCISE--IF THERE'S A STRONGER WORD FOR HATE--TELL ME!! However, I am committed to walking 3X a week for 30 minutes. I don't want to set myself up for failure so I think that 3 times if attainable. Today, I was soooo tired of plain broth--I went to the chinese restaurant and ordered wonton soup--hold the wontongs...the broth was to die for!! I also ordered egg drop soup. I'm not suppose to go to creamy soup until Monday, but it's close enough!! I can't wait until Monday--I get to eat grits, mashed potatoes and creamy soups!!! WOW Doesn't sound like much--but after 2 weeks of jell-o, pudding and broth--it sounds GREAT Blessings to all!!
-
Toni--I want the gory details!!! Also what type of shakes do you use? I need to get one that I can "love". I purchased a humungous bad of EAS vanilla from Sam's--it's pretty good. Hotty--Like your aviator picture!!! I'm not brave enough to put my real picture up yet!! Suzzie--Please go to the doctor and see about the pain!! I know that everyone is different. I was banded on the Mon. 18th and was up driving, moving and shaking by Thursday. Sounds like you might need to see a doc. Danbo--GLAD to see our "male" bandster is doing well!!! Congrats on the weight loss To all who were banded prior to the 18th--THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. You have made this journey so easy and comforting for me. I know what to expect because of your faithful postings. The encouragement is great!! Kland--Are you being filled at AIGB or Surgery Center of Richardson?
-
welcome sweety!!! Where in Texas are you? I'm right outside of Dallas
-
CRAVINGS!!!!!! I watched the Godfather and instantly wanted spaghetti and lasagna!!!! They're not even eating much during the movie!!!--But I wanted it none the less!!
-
kland--- I hadn't posted lately...but I'm keeping up with you. I'm following your progress, because as you know, I'm 3 days behind you with the same doctor. Have you scheduled a fill yet? AIGB is booked waaaay out--so I am booking a fill for July 18th at Surgery Center of Richardson. Toni & Nina--Hey--Girl--Missin You and your encouragement!!!! Not so sure I like the idea of subgroups--I have to read too many different threads
-
Hello and welcome: I was banded on July 18th also in Dallas, TX. You should join the June 2007 group. We're one big happy family that post quite often....those who are banded continue to encourage and support those who are being banded and provide info for those who are coming behind. It's a great group. Just look for the June 2007 Thread
-
Juliann--you and your best friend will do fine. You're in God's hands. Get well and post soon and let us know how you're doing. Cpt. Danbo--I am not having problems sleeping in a regular bed. I was banded on Monday 18th and had to sleep on my side. By Wednesday, I was using a soft pillow (made by volunteers at the hospital) to sleep on my stomach. The most difficult part was getting in and out of bed. I felt like a whale on my back--rocking from side to side and trying to grip the sides of the mattress to pull my self up--I'm sure I looked funny too!!
-
Does anyone use mydailyplate.com to track their intake of nutrients? If not, what do you use?
-
Suzzie---I hate that you're having so much discomfort...I was banded on the 18th and used a pillow to support my stomach so that I could lie on my side and eventually stomach....Try a pillow..It may help O2BThin---So glad to hear from YOU!!! We're band buddies and I have been eagerly checking the board to hear how you did....It's good to know you are doing well....5 miles???? WOW GO GIRL!!!
-
Toni---I'm sorry to hear abut your headaches. I have said a prayer for you. I pray that you would be completely healed of the headaches and god would relieve you of having to take the medication. You are such a faithful encourager and inspiration to me each time I get on the site....I look forward to seeing your name!!! Hope that you are feeling better soon.

Has anyone who has been banded joined a support group--other than lbt? Kland--- I know that Dr. B. has a support group that meets on the first Thursday of each month. It may be AIGB rather than Dr. B. Are you planning on going?
-
Hello everyone!!!! I am an official bandit!!! My life was changed forever at 7:00a.m. I am SURPRISED at how well I feel. I taken small naps throughout the day, sipped on broth and Water, and walked around the house. My stomach feels like I've done lots of crunches (I remember what crunches feel like from my previous life!!! hahahaha) Love to all-- God bless Tuesday's bandsters!!
-
Toni---Thanks for always being so transparent in your posts about your eating, feelings etc. It sure is an inspiration to me. I look forward to always seeing what you're writing. You're such a great ENCOURAGER!!! Also--thanks for responding to the jello question. I wasn't sure if we can actually "eat" for the first 2 weeks or just slurp. Kland--I'm glad to see you up and posting so soon. I will be banded by Dr. Benevides this Monday.
-
Question for those who are 2 weeks post-op: Are you mixing your protein shakes with anything (frozen fruit, etc)? Are you "eating" jello-in solid form or "drinking" it in liquid form?
-
I've been reading a lot on the boards regarding gas. Dr. Benevides told us that he uses humidified gas rather than dry gas. It's supposedly makes isn't so hard on the body and you shouldn't have as severe gas pains as with dry gas....just a thought for future bandsters to ask their doctors about....Has anyone else heard of this....Being banded on Monday...
-
TONI--He didn't specify any specific beverage....he said it's quite alright to sip, SIP, SIP with your meal.
-
No, I was with the 1:00 group. Did Dr. B. explain the same things to you? (about the port? sipping with meals?) I took my camera and took a picture with him!! I'll go back in a year and take a "skinny" picture with him !! HAHAHAA
-
Rita--I'm so sorry to hear about your ordeal. Know that God has a plan and a purpose for everything..... I just came back from my pre-op visit.--I'll be banded Monday @ 7:30a.m. My surgeon, Dr. Benevides, told me that he is one of the few in the North Texas area that has the AP band. He's going to use it on me and if he has a low profile port, I'll get it also. He no longer puts the port on the left side. It's more centrally located. Almost above the belly button. He stated that sometimes the port can rise when a substantial amount of weight has been lost, so this is a better position. Also, he told me that new research shows that it's not necessary to refrain from drinking 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after. You can take small sips with your meal. However, he advises his patients to train themselves not to drink with meals--because your nutrients/calories will come from food and not beverages. I'm so excited----I am really greatful for all of the info that you guys have posted. Oh2BThin and Cblanca--It's almost our day!!!!!!
-
Welcome TX gal...I'm in Duncanville--using Dr. Richard Benevides (Surgery Center of Richardson) Will be banded on 6-18-07

bigbaby replied to KatieDarling's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
welcome KD Congrats on the weight loss and the new life...check out the June 2007 thread!!! -
Oh MY!!!!! I see you're being banded by Dr. Benevides....He's my surgeon also (I'm being banded Monday!!!!) Have you had your pre-op visit? What's going to happen? Have you had an opportunity to meet him? Where do you live? I'm in duncanville!!
-
I am finally at the end!!!!! I haven't posted in a while...but I have spent the last 4 days getting to know each and everyone of YOU!!!! I started at the very 1st post and just finished the last. I started my pre-op diet on June 4th and have lost 7lbs so far YEA!!!!! I will have my pre-op visit tomorrow at 1:00p.m.---will find all the other information. I've heard that after surgery, people often "go crazy" and pick up an unhealthy addiction to replace the food (something like sex, alcohol etc). I think that LBT will be my new addiction!!!! It's so good to see all of the June banders who have gone before faithfully keeping the rest of us abreast of what's going on!!!! I really feel like I know some of you because of your transparent post!!!
