My sister gave me a recipe for "8 Can Taco Soup" that I have fallen in love with. It could be use for any type of diet, from liquid or puréed to regular. 1 can black Beans drained and rinsed 1 can pinto beans, drained and rinsed 1 can chicken broth 1 can enchilada sauce 1 can corn, drained and rinsed 1 can diced tomatoes 1 large can chicken (I used two to increase protein) 1 packet taco seasoning I cooked in the slow cooker for the whole day. I put it in the blender for the first day after a fill and ate it all chunky after the liquid phase. I did nutritional info on it through My Fitness Pal. It has about 200 calories in one cup but it provides 20 grams of Protein when 2 cans of chicken are used. My new all time favorite!

Not true. Broccoli has 2 g of Protein per cup, steak has 7 g. of protein per oz. Just saying...yes, it's good for you, but it's not a great source of protein. Beans, nuts and seeds are good protein sources, but the nuts carry a heavy fat load so use them cautiously,

Don't worry!!!! I am over two years out from surgery and I eat just about everything. Less quantity, chewing really well with small bites, etc. if I had thought that I would never be able to eat pizza again, it would have been a deal breaker! Of course, I only eat the toppings now and some of the outside crust, but I have pizza every Friday which is a family tradition. As for chicken, I have changed the way I cook it (usually with a moist cooking method and a sauce of some sort ) but I still eat chicken several times a week. Oranges- just slice them across- it cuts through most of the membrane. Don't rule out any healthy foods, just change the way you cook and eat them. I do have some trouble with Pasta and rice, but I can live with having them with a lot of sauce. Don't stress about all the foods you are losing-focus on the positives coming your way... -

I eat bananas every day...not sure why they would've been considered too fibrous. Celery I understand, bananas I don't.

I share a meal with my daughter or order off the appetizer menu. I am two years plus post surgery and I no longer worry about what anyone thinks about how I eat. If you make a big deal out of it, they will too. Also, get doggie bags... I have a couple of restaurants where my family eats regularly and they know that I will always ask for a split meal. They don't even bring the whole meal out, they just split it in the kitchen and being it out all bagged and ready to go home.

I am on MFP too. I would love you to friend me. my user name is rkimom. I was banded over two years ago and have been had core back to MFP for a couple of months and am finally losing again. I like that I can log on my phone or iPad and it syncs them. No excuses for not journaling. -
Welcome back to the band world...hope your journey is smooth!

When I use protein in powder form, I mix with Lactaid milk. I cannot drink regular. I use a Blender Bottle with a mixing disc in it and it makes the shakes frothy-like a milkshake!

I like the Isopure drinks-you can get Zero Carb versions with 60 calories and 15 g. of protein in small ready to drink bottles or larger bottles with 160 calories. I bought them at GNC and Meijers.

I live the Jean McMillan book "Bandwagon-2nd edition" and also her matching cookbook. If you scroll to the bottom of the main pages on LBT the ad info is there. You cannot order from Amazon.

You are definitely not alone in this! I only wish that I had stayed on here during a particularly difficult eight month period.... Oh we'll, it's another day and no where to go but up (in compliance, not weight tee-hee!)

I am more than two years out from surgery and (knock on wood) have never had any stomach viruses! Some people will always be trying to find a reason to give you grief about the band...don't listen. It doesn't do you any good to try to change their opinions-even though you know they are wrong.

Glad to hear that it wasn't bad. They found a cervical polyp when they did my exam and they don't know if that's why my periods have gotten so heavy. Either way, the ablation will be done since I am 2+ years post banding and am suffering major iron loss each month. I have been struggling with vitamin deficiencies for the last 10 months so its too hard on my body. Just a word of warning-take your vitamins-exactly as recommended!!!
