food stuck what do do? Help!

Hello, I've had my band for a little over 2 years.... food can get stuck and I know it HURTS. This can happen from not chewing the food enough or eating way to fast. Sometimes if I eat a few bites quickly I get a really bad pain and it feels like someone is squeezing my stomach. In really bad cases I might end up dry heaving or throwing up just a little... sorry I know thats gross. The best thing to do is stop eating and let it work its way past. Whenever it happens to me I just sit back and try to breathe. I also tend to rub the uppper part of my chest where the band is underneath... not sure the rubbing does much besides making me feel like I'm helping (lol) Sometimes a little Water might help, but usually I just have to wait for the pain to subside. If it continues to hurt for an extended period of time (like hours) I would def. seek medical attention. Hope this helps *Sidney*
2. I'm sorry to hear you've had so much trouble. However, I understand the frustration of fills. I was banded back in 08 and have only had my initial fill and one this past January.... My first fill after surgery was painful. My surgeon did it in 20 minutes and ended up bending the needle and having to get a new one. Needless to say, if the hypodermic needle bent... he was applying a ton of pressure. My second and hopefully last fill was extremely painful. My surgeon poked around in me for 30 minutes before he figured out that my port had become partially undone. My port was tilted sideways and he had been jabbing straight down trying to fill it. The pain was horrible and for someone who has a high pain tolerance I must admit it made me cry. My surgeon then mentioned to me that he has had 3 other patients that have had a similar problem... not sure if that was supposed to be reassuring. Today I had sharp pains coming from my port area and it hurt to breathe in. My step-mom is an RN and she thinks it was probably the rest of the stitches popping out.... The feeling of that is not fun. It took about an hour for the pain to subside. If I ever have it filled again, she said I'd have to have an x-ray to see where the port has shifted to.... kinda scary. I hope everything works out for you in the end. No one deserves more pain when they are trying to better themselves. Just stay strong, find your silver lining *Sidney*
3. Where to begin lol I'm planning on having a few things done. First will be a breast job and the upper arm flab. Then a tummy tuck and my thighs... Have to lose at least 25 more pounds between now and next summer for any of this to be realistic though... *fingers crossed* *Sidney* url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/wM4qZ08/]

Hungry too soon after I eat?

I have the same issue. After a meal (which is a small portion) it takes about 2 hours and I begin to feel hungry. I think its normal though. Weight loss programs for people without a band say its best to eat multiple (around 5) small meals a day. It increases matabolism. With our band we eat way less at one time and its only natural for our bodies to get hungry faster. And I'm sure your matabolism has gotten faster too. If you start to gain weight due to the amount of meals you eat, I'd consider a band fill. If you are still losing weight, exercising, and are happy... don't fix what's not really broken :scared2: url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/wM4qZ08/]
6. Yeah, I pretty much eat whatever I want. I have a MAJOR sweet tooth. If I could stay away from chocolate I'd probably be a stick figure lol A taco sald isn't necessaraly bad. It just depends on how much of it you can eat. Does your band give you any restriction or does it feel like its stretched out? I've only had mine filled twice. The initial fill and one this past year. I can't even remember how much liquid is in my band. I still have a problem with guaging how much I should be able to eat. Some things, like chips, I can go to town on. Other things like bread and Pasta can make me feel like i'm choking when I eat them. I guess it's all in how the food breaks down and sits in out stomachs. What is a typical portion and meal for you? I guess in terms of what I can eat... If I had a hot dog, I could eat maybe one or two bites of the bun but demolish the dog lol and possibly have a couple of bites of a side item. *Sidney* url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/wM4qZ08/]
7. Hey Brittany, I'm Sidney currently 21 and 2 yrs out since I was banded. At my heaviest I was around 271 and am currently at 180. My weight has been fluctuating and I know what its like to gain some weight back. And I am the same as you, I have energy at night but never want to wake up early to get the exercise I need. Honestly, in my 2 years of banding I really have not worked out much. I could use a friend too Maybe we can spark some motivation in each other :scared2:
