I began thinking about weight loss surgery about three years ago but didn't really feel I was at that point. I was 230 at the time. Over the next three years, I went from 230 to 264 and nothing seemed to be helping. On consultation, I was told my surgery would be covered 100% and I felt what did I really have to lose except weight. I started the process in June of 2009. My insurance required six months diet with a nutritionist in addition to doctors consultations. I finished this portion in December of 2009, paperwork was submitted in February of 2010 and unfortunatetely it took almost three months before we got approval. It was a stressful process not knowing whether I would have the surgery or not, but now three weeks post op, I feel great. I have lost 16 pounds, most of it by willpower at this point and have never felt better. Just this little weight loss has given me such a boost in my self esteem. I don't know why I waited. I should have done it years ago.
