I've done them all.... Weight Watcher's, Diet Center, Phen-Phen, Atkins....on and on.  I did lose 85 lbs. with Diet Center, but that was 20 years ago, and it all came back and then some. I'm at the 'brink' of the age limit for Lapband, and it's now or never.   My bloodwork is always spot-on, I'm not diabetic, a slight tinge of arthritis, but at my age, that's not uncommon.  I just ache... body and heart.  I want to comfortably go into public places and not scan for a 'large-butt' chair, or panic when I see arms on chairs in friends homes. I don't want to tip over when working in the garden!  And, I want to get on a plane and not fear they'll make me buy two seats!  I have grandchildren whom I wish to see grow into adulthood.  I wasn't a fat child or teenager.  But, somewhere along the line, the weight came on and stayed on....  Both my parents were slim until they reached their 40's, and I seem to have done the same thing. Only worse.   My childhood was filled with good, solid and healthy foods, just too much of it.  It was the generation of 'clean plate', huge servings and 'food makes it all better" mentality.  I've been told I'm an excellent cook and baker.  I enjoy feeding others constantly.  Mealtime is the highlight of the day.  Now, it will be concentrating on healthy cooking, little baking, and mealtimes a chance to converse and enjoy each other's company over a slower-paced dining table.   Sounds good?  Can I do this?  I think so...... my mantra is now "The can-do's outweigh the can't-do's".   We'll see.  My banding is this coming Tuesday (day after tomorrow).  The journey begins.....
