Sounds good to me. Think I may try it.

    Your very first fill

I was banded on 09/08 and had my first fill on 10/07 (4 weeks). It was weird, because I didn't particularly like how it felt, but at least it was quick. I think it is somewhat restrictive; I am working on doing a better job of measuring my foods and not just eyeballing it.

    One Month Later....

It has been one month, since I had the procedure and I feel pretty good. My first fill is tomorrow and am curious to see what it is like. I was told not to eat for 2 hours before the fill. I'm sure I'll learn this tomorrow, but am wondering how are you supposed to eat after getting a fill. I am doing good with not really craving any food. I have been doing some shopping at a new, Whole Foods Market not far from me and have really enjoyed foods from their "raw" bar (vegan, vegetarian, raw & living foods). There is this cucumber-yogurt dip that is so yummy and healthy. It is delicious. I also have enjoyed healthy items from their self-serve "to-go" bar. It was pretty funny that a couple of weeks ago, I was having dinner w/a co-worker (a working meeting) and she later commented how slow I ate. I just told her that I'm changing how I eat. It was an odd moment, because I wasn't really sure how to respond. I've done really good with my exercising. At least 30 minutes at the gym at work and then I usually ride 5 miles on the old stationary bike at home. On the weekend, when I can't go to the gym, I ride the bike. ...and I am down 21 pounds since my pre-op on 08/26. I think that yesterday when I weighed myself and saw myself at 194.6, I couldn't help it. I got a little giddy. :frown: I think it just kindof really hit me, that I am on my way to being healthy and happy with myself. When I make it below 190, I don't know what I'll do with myself. I hope everyone else is doing good. Take care.

    Bad news

    Hang in there.
  5. Eleni - Hi. I just sent you a friend request, so it will help us keep in touch. I got my band pretty quick. I went to a seminar at TrueResults in mid-June and got the band on 09/08/10. Good luck to you. Keep in touch.

    1 Darn Pound

I know I had lost, but then gained back a couple of pounds, before I started losing again. I'm at 21 pounds down now, but it's taken me about 2 weeks to really lose about 6-7 pounds. Hang in there. I'm sure you're probably fine. ...and make sure to get your exercise. That is really what is helping me. I started with walking and am now stationary biking and doing some light weights. Take care.

One year out.. Not doing well.

Have you tried walking? Have you had any check-ups to make sure the band is placed correctly? Hang in there and at least try to walk. I don't know what to tell you about the food. Good luck to you.
  9. babyk - stick with it. hopefully, you can get your doctor's office to help you. how did you pick this office? i've not been totally happy with the company that i went through, but the surgeon was so nice. i hope things get better for you.

5 days post-op, can i get the gas pain now?

I think I had the gas pain, but for me, it felt like I really needed to crack my neck, but couldn't.

    My liquid diet

What are you drinking? I used Slim-Fast Optima type drinks and protein shots sold by the surgeon's office. How are you feeling?

How do I boost my weight loss again?

Maybe change up your exercise routine? Good luck to you.
  13. I was banded 09/08 and have my first fill on 10/07. I've been doing pretty good, but I'm having trouble knowing how much food I should be eating. I don't snack in between meals, so I know when I've gone long enough without food, my stomach starts growling really loud. It's kindof embarrasing, but thank goodness I haven't been talking to anyone at work when it happened. I eat a small amount of food, but keep wondering how much is too much. Do you weigh your piece of chicken/fish and then measure out a vegetable? If you have your Protein, then how much other food can you have? I have not felt over-full after eating, just so-so. I normally think about how much more I want to eat, but am mindful that I can only eat a little. I also want to know what your doctors have told you about drinking with meals. I'm pretty sure I was told not to drink with meals, because it would wash the food down and might make me eat more and that I should wait 30 minutes after a meal, before drinking something.

My first NSV- 2 months after surgery

Thanks, gwenny. I guess then, I can say that I have had a couple NSV's by fitting into some clothes I hadn't worn in awhile. :smile2:
  15. Thanks, vlp1968 and Ocnlvr. I think after I get my first fill on Thursday, I might be eating a little less.

    Good Luck.

    Something is wrong...

It sounds like you need to call your surgeon.
  18. I slept in a sitting up position in bed w/alot of pillows. I didn't start laying on my said for almost 10 days. I just was paranoid about hurting anything. I am normally a stomach sleeper, but have not done that for the same reason.

10 days post op on regular food!

I started eating more solid foods about 9-10 days after and I'm fine. I just really chew the food.
  20. I agree with everyone else. I can't believe your doctor is making you have all those fills. I don't get my first one until 10/07 and I was banded on 09/08 and I'm just starting to feel like it's time for a fill.

    No regrets, but....

When we were discussing how much I've lost (banded on 09/08), my husband said something like "See I told you, all you had to do was watch what you eat and exercise". I didn't say anything then, but I need to let him know that I didn't take the "easy way out". The band is helping me do what I couldn't do myself. It forces me to not eat more than I should and I am doing really good at watching what I am eating, because seriously, what is the point of having the band if I am just going to eat fatty foods and Desserts all the time. I mean occasionally it's okay to have a dessert, but you all know what I mean. I have hardly told anyone. Only one friend, my sister, my dad, husband (obviously), my boss and the nurse at work. I don't want people thinking that I took the easy way. I've always been so self conscious about what people thought of me, so I'm not telling.

Bizzare reactions at my incision sites

My incision sites themselves haven't been too bad, but I did need to put a band-aid on one of them and I had a really odd reaction to the band-aid, that I have never had. I had a sore in the outline of the band-aid and have a scar from it now (hopefully it will go away). I tried a small one band-aid on one of the smallest incisions the other day and sort of had the same issue, only it wasn't as bad. I want to put a band-aid on my arm now, just to see if I have the same problem on another place on my body.

That's so awesome, Twinkles! I love your story about admiring your collarbone. Myself, I can't wait to see my knees and my elbows.
