    Muscle Milk

I drank it during my pre-op diet and would maybe drink it more now, but it's a little pricey for me. I do drink Slim-Fast like drinks for some protein, even though they don't have near as much protein. They still help me anyhow.
  2. nomorejellybelly

How much protein do you eat daily?

I have not been keeping track of my protein intake although I do try to make sure to get protein daily.

Should I be able to do that?

I think we're allowed to drink as much or as little fluid as we like. I try to stay away from calorie containing drinks, but don't feel bad when I do drink them, because I'm being so careful about everything else and I'm doing great with my exercising. I need to be better about not drinking for 30 minutes after meals, but the lady who has done my first two fills, says it's okay to drink with meals. I try not to as much as possible though. I think you're probably okay, just pay attention to if you have really bad pains in the port or band areas. Good luck to you. P.S. I was banded on 09/08/10.

Am I crazy to do this???

I think if you can find a way to afford it, you are not crazy for wanting to have the procedure. I am 4'8" and weighed 215 just before I had the procedure on 09/08/10. I've lost 30 lbs (including from when I started on pre-op diet) now and people are really noticing. I turn 40 this next year and I was just ready to be healthy and to look good of course. Good luck to you.

    Any ideas behind this reasoning...

I don't think that sounds too unreasonable. I got the band on 09/08/10. I was on liquid pre-op diet for 2 weeks prior, liquids after for about 2 weeks after, then was able to start on soft, mushy foods. I've also been very careful about my chewing. I've not had any problems with any food and have not had any pains. I have had issues with taking some meds a couple of times, where I almost had to throw up, but was able to hold it down. Good luck to you. Let us know how you do.

    cant find the portal

They should be able to do an ultrasound scan and find it. That's crap, that the dr. can't find it. Good luck to you. I agree with some of the others. You may need to find a new dr.

Eating before bed or laying down...

I've also heard/read that if you go lay down with food in your stomach, that the pouch can stretch out.
  8. How much time do you give in between when you eat and when you lay down or when you go to bed? I've been giving myself at least three hours, but wondered what everyone else does?

    Big victory for me!

Congratulations! I lost only a tiny bit this week, but I got under a certain number. I seriously cannot remember the last time I weighed what I do now. I've lost a little bit more than 25 lbs, so I still have about 75 lbs to go. Keep it up.
  10. I'm six weeks banded also. I've been wondering the same thing.

    My Journey

  12. Who else's stomach growls really loud (and I really mean loud) when you get hungry? I hear my stomach growling, which should mean I'm hungry, but I don't always feel hungry when it growls. Anyone else have this?
  13. I wasn't hungry tonight and then when I got hungry (finally), it was too late to eat anything before bed. So, I just had a slimfast type drink. Still a tiny bit hungry, but feel pretty good.

8 Days post op and question?

I lost a really good amount before I had my first fill of 1cc a week ago. You should be fine if you watch what you eat and do your exercising. Good luck to you.

    Why am I sabotaging myself?

I'm doing pretty good with not snacking between meals, but I do eat more than 6oz at meals. Today my yummy frozen dinner was 10oz and I felt fine after eating it. Not stuffed or anything, but I keep getting worried about stretching my pouch.

    Popcorn

I've had this question also. We have Popcorn Day every Thursday at my office and I haven't tried it yet, since getting the band in early September. Will try it tomorrow!

    New here- few question

I say see if it is covered by your insurance and see if you can get approved. Good Luck to you. It really is worth it. I was banded on 09/08 and have not had any major problems. Just minor gas pain and normal healing after the procedure. I was 215 and am now very close to getting under 190. I'm looking very forward to being thin and healthy. Take care and again, good luck.

    Determined to make it happen!

Angie - Hi. I say "Go for it"! I was covered by my insurance and the process went rather quickly for me. I was banded on 09/08 and have lost 23 lbs since being on the pre-op diet. Have you done any checking around for where to get the procedure and is it covered by insurance for you. Take care. Feel free to message me on here.
  21. Try a good protein (I used a supplement that had 42g of protein) supplement. It really helped me.

    Clear liquid diet...SUCKS!!!

I was banded 4 1/2 weeks ago. The liquid diet wasn't too bad for me, but the first day or two were the worst. I took a protein supplement suggested by TrueResults and my surgeon, called Protein Bullet. They have 42 grams of protein. The protein helped me not feel hungry, although I did crave alot of foods. I think there were 12 of the little bottles in the box and it cost $36 (I believe). A little pricey on my budget and they don't taste that great, but they really helped me. So, maybe you can try a supplement really high in protein. Good Luck to you. P.S. I did lose at least 5 lbs on the liquid diet.

What foods get stuck in your band?

P.S. When something gets stuck, do you pretty much feel it right away?
  24. nomorejellybelly

What foods get stuck in your band?

I have not had any problems with stuck foods yet (4 1/2 weeks after being banded). I just had my first fill (1cc) three days ago and still no problems. I really, really, chew my food.
  25. I just started trying to lay on my port side (4 1/2 weeks after getting banded) and it still does not feel too comfortable, so I'm going to give it more time. I also do not feel comfortable doing sit-ups or exercies where I'll use those ab muscles yet. I did not some leg presses last week and felt something weird in my abs, once when my legs were extended and stopped doing that exercise. I'm just really paranoid about messing up the port.
