    I am in ONDERLAND!!!!!

Congratulations. Each new weight I reach now, I keep thinking "When was the last time I weighed this?". My loss is slow, but I'm not really getting frustrated (only a little). It is so exciting!

    Problems Eating Certain Foods

Knock on wood, but I haven't had problems with any food as of yet. I know everyone is different. Good luck to you.

    Sweet Spot??

Can someone please explain the Sweet Spot? I know it's something like when you're doing really good, but I don't know. How do you really know you're at the Sweet Spot?

    On My Way

Good luck to you. It's exciting.

Did you "transition" into the liquid diet?

I did it cold turkey and the first day was the worst, but it got better.

    pre-op testing

P.S. I already met several conditions. Morbidly obese and family history of diabetes, my pcos and cholesterol. for example.

    pre-op testing

I got really lucky and only had to do labs, a check-up and pysch eval. I think that's all I had to do.

How long until you're back to work?

I was banded on 09/08/10. I took off the day of surgery and then 4 more days. Plus, the weekend fell in the middle of that. So, if you can, schedule your surgery for the middle of the week and you'll get the weekend too. Good luck.

    Not drinking while eating

I try not to drink anything for 30 minutes after eating, but will take a little swish of liquid to rinse if I need to. The PA lady who does my fills, told me during my first fill that it was okay to drink while eating. I'm not totally listening to her.... I have to remember though, if I do drink during eating, to not eat any more than what I measure out. I do always make sure to not eat for a minimum of 4 1/2 to 5 hrs after I eat. Good luck to you.

    One week post op

Sounds like you're doing pretty good. Liquid diet is a little rough, but not horrible for me, because I wasn't hungry. Good luck.

    First Fill

It seems early to me. I hear alot of people get the first fill at about 4 weeks (like me). At 8 weeks, I have already had my second one, which I thought felt better than the first.

I have surgery in the tomorrow!

Good Luck to you and let us know how you're doing afterwards. I got the band on 09/08/10 and have lost roughly 30 lbs. The last couple of pounds keep fluctuating. I just had a fill last week (I think it was last week) and think I could stand to have another in 2-3 weeks. I think I should spread it out. I also have thought about it being drastic, but I am having success, even though it's a little slow right now. More and more people are noticing and it makes it worth it. It is hard to think about eating just a cup of food, but I am getting used to it. Using the smaller plate, really makes it seem like you're eating a lot. Friend me on here, if you'd like.

    Worried

I think it sounds like you're doing pretty good. I'm 8 weeks post-op and have lost about 30 pounds. The last couple (or three) weeks have been slow, but I'm hanging in there.

How many of you take Synthroid?

I've been on both Synthroid and the Levothyroxine and have waited an hour before eating and waited for 4 hrs after taking each.

Going back to work tomorrow & NERVOUS!

I was banded on 09/08/10. Definitely at least drink protein (I used a lot of Slim-Fast type drinks) and chicken/beef broth. You'll be fine. Just take it easy and don't do anything too strenuous. Oh and take vitamins. I ate gummy vitamins at lunch time . Vitamins should help you also. Take care. Let me know how it goes.

    NSV, my favorite so far.

That is awesome! Even though I am married (not happily), I am looking forward to being noticed and hey, if I am out and someone wants to buy me a drink and chat me up, why not?
  17. Go for it, Billy. I don't know how it works, but since you already have the band, maybe you'll just need to start getting the fills. ...but your stomach pouch may have stretched, so maybe they'll need to do a scan of your stomach to see. Good luck though. Go for it.

    Need Breakfast Ideas

I know that potatoes aren't a great choice, but I'll sometimes have about 1/4-1/2 cup of diced potatoe/peppers/ham mixture and scramble an egg into it. I'm working toward doing an all veggie or lean ham version, but I don't think too much about having the potatoes, because I feel that I eat well the rest of the day. Other times, I'll have a hard-boiled egg and a string cheese. I also like cottage cheese and have started doing a spoon of low-sugar strawberry jam in it. Yummy.

    7 Weeks later....and 2nd Fill

I forgot to post something last week at my 6 weeks mark. I've pretty much decided to at least sign on every two weeks to do a status. Well, things have been going okay. My weight has fluxuated up/down about 1 1/2 lbs for the past week or so. I've not let it bother me too much, but I was happy to have met my goal (barely) for this past week. I have lost 30 lbs, since starting the pre-op diet and being banded on 09/08/10. I am wearing clothes that I haven't been able to fit into in a long time. Pretty cool to wear a pair of jeans that I haven't worn in like two years. Yay! I am disappointed to find out that the way the charges put through to my insurance company, it looks like I'll have to pay over a $1000 to the surgery center for supplies, which I understand mostly means the actual band itself. I was not expecting that, but it's partly my fault. I should have paid more attention to the info in the insurance, but to my credit, nobody said anything about paying for the actual band. All I knew was that the procedure was approved. Also, don't like how much my co-pay is for going for the office visit & fill (which is being coded/submitted as a "surgery", because the skin is being punctured). What the heck!!? So, I've not been totally happy with the center/company that I went through for the procedure, but I am so happy I had it done. I had my second fill this past week and it went better than the first. I'm lucky, because I've not had any problems with food or pain. There has been a couple of times where I've had little pains in my sides, but I can't definitively say that it's due to the port/band (I don't think it is). More people are noticing that I'm losing weight, so that's been cool. ...and since I've chosen to only tell a few people about getting the band, everyone just thinks it's because I've been going to the gym every day. I also tell people that I've had to change how I eat, which is not a lie. I was going to post some new pics, but I have to wait until I buy a new USB cord to upload from my camera (one of our puppies chewed the cord). So, that's all for now. I hope to sign on next week or so. Bye!

    Cheeseburgers

I can, but I try not to eat much of the bun if I eat any of it at all.

    Wooohooo! No longer morbidly obese.

Way to go!! I need to check what range I am in, the next time I go for a fill appt. I look forward to being just obese, then overweight and finally just skinny.

    Ice Cream Yet?

I've had milkshakes (like JavaChiller from Sonic) rarely, but I really, really stay away from icecream, because I know that I shouldn't be even eating it.

How many of you take Synthroid?

I take the generic of Synthroid (Levothyroxine) and you're not supposed to take any Vitamins for 4 hours after you take your Synthroid (Levothyroxine). I even have asked about any other meds, like ibuprofen and was told to wait at least 3-4 hours before taking that after my thyroid meds. Good luck to you. P.S. I'm having to get labwork done, because of my weight loss, my thyroid levels are off. I can tell, because I've been having some symptoms of that.

    Very embarassing NSV

Funny! I had some jeans that were falling down on me, while I was doing some stuff in my back yard recently and that's definitely something that's not happened to me either.

    Baby food really ????????

I never ate baby food. I just made sure I really, really chewed my food, so it was good to go down.
