When can I eat salad or bread?

I don't recall how soon I started with bread. I don't like to eat too much of it, because I don't want it taking up space in my pouch. I've had salad, but the last time, I didn't enjoy it, so I may stay away from it.

    port area itching

I had some itching at the incision site where the port is. Part of my problem ended up being from band-aids used afterwards. I developed a reaction to the band-aids. I too have a dimple in the port area.

    The little things!

I think I'm starting to notice my knees a little more and my saddle-bag looking thighs don't look so much like they have saddle-bags anymore.
  5. I started walking on the treadmill after a week. I must have started very, light arm weights soon after that. I have been very hesitant to do any abdominal work. There is one abdominal/back machine I use, but I use very, light weights. If I ever feel anything weird, when I'm exercising, I stop immediately and don't do that exercise for awhile. Also, I still do light weights with alot of reps to build muscle.

Today is my 1 year Bandiversary!!!!!!

Congratulations! That is so awesome. I hope to have the same success as you. I'd be interested to know, if you ever had times when you got upset about your progress? I was banded 09/08/10 and I have times when I get a little frustrated.

    Suprised by my first fill...

That sounds like a lot. How big is your band? I have had two fills and only get 1cc each time.

    Yay!!!

Someone at my office ran into another one of my co-workers and asked her if she had seen me and that I'm "shrinking". Also, I was talking with a co-worker in the hallway and a couple guys walked by and stopped to talk. We were joking around and at one point one of them said something about "talking to the cute chicks". I'm very self-conscious and don't know what he really thinks about me. Normally, this should be something that maybe isn't really appropriate in the work place, but I didn't take any offense and was just thrilled to be referred to as "one of the cute chicks". I still have a long way to go, but it feels so good, that a lot of people are noticing my weight loss.:thumbup:

My surgery date in Nov 22,2010 :)

Good luck to you. It is exciting. I was banded on 09/08/10 and have lost close to 35 lbs since the beginning of my pre-op diet. Feel free to "friend" me.
  11. I only told my husband, my sister, two of my step-kids, my dad, some people at my church, the nurse at work (who promised not to say anything) and my boss (who said he would take my secret to his grave; I thought that was so sweet). I only told those two people at work, because I wanted those two to know, just in case I had any medical problems during work. Good luck to you.
  12. Hi, Janet. Thanks for commenting on my blog. Keep in touch.

  13. Thanks for commenting on my blog. Good luck to you also! I sent a "friend request" to you, so we can keep in touch, if that is alright with you.

    9 Weeks and 4 Days

I am 9 weeks and 4 day into this journey. I have lost almost 35 lbs. I was stuck at 185 for what seemed like forever to me, but was really only about a week. I even gained a pound before starting to lose again. I think I am doing pretty good and am pleased. As I get to each new lower weight, I can't believe it. I am about to have to stop wearing some of my bigger clothes, because they're just starting to be too big (yay)! I've taken some pictures, but my dogs chewed the USB cord and I don't know when I'll be able to upload again. I know I am having the most trouble, with really wanting to eat more. I stop eating though, after I've eaten what I measure out. I still get paranoid about whether or not I'm eating too much at a meal. Realistically, I'm probably doing just find, but like I said I am paranoid. I tried to schedule another fill for this coming week or next week before Thanksgiving, but I can't get in for my 3rd fill until December 3rd. I guess that should be okay. I'm exercising 45-60 minutes a day. Cardio and light weights w/more reps to build muscle. Well, I better close for now. I hope everyone else is doing good. One last thing, I'm interested in knowing how many people use this website as their main form of support? I went through TrueResults and have not gone to any support meetings provided by them. I don't think I've needed them. This is working for me just fine.

    Pre-op liquid diet - weakness

Get yourself some really good Protein supplements and take Vitamins. That really helped me. The first full day of the liquid diet was the worst for me. Good luck. Banded: 09/08/10

    surgery wed and chickening out!!

I was banded on 09/08/10. I think you should do it. I've been lucky and not had any problems with food afterwards. Honestly, I have to remind myself to stop eating, but I've been able to eat anything I want. I measure out small portions and it works fine. When we order Chinese food or something, I can get at least three meals out of each to-go box. Go for it. You can do it! Feel free to private message or "friend me" on here, if you'd like.
  17. I don't remember if I did puddings, but I think I did. For me, the worst day of the liquid diet was the first full day of it. I took some good Protein supplements and made sure to take gummy Vitamins and I didn't have any other problems. P.S. I was banded on 09/08/10.

    20 Weeks & I'm half way there!!!!

    You are a rock-star! Congratulations.
  19. I can't believe you have 6 meals. I eat three and do pretty well, without snacking. Sometimes I might have a bite of something, but not a "snack". I eat breakfast at about 8:15a, lunch at about 12:30/1:00p and dinner about 6:00/6:30. I definitely try to make sure that I don't eat for at least 3 1/2 hours before I go to sleep.

    Another newly banded in "hell"

I think it sounds like you're doing okay. You said you had lost weight. How much have you lost? I had been at a little plateau for about 2 weeks (after my 1st fill), but I just stuck with it and kept exercising and now the weight is coming off again. It seems slow, but is about 1 1/2 - 2 lbs a week. Keep exercising too. Good luck to you and everybody, just hang in there.
  21. I'm using my 2lb hand-weights and doing arm exercises at home (low weight, lots of reps to build muscle). I also do other weights when I go to the gym at my office. I've noticed a difference.

    Struggling

    Good luck to you.

    How soon to lay down??

I slept in a 1/2 sitting position for about 4 days, maybe more. I waited to sleep on my right side, until I felt comfortable enough and not sore from surgery. I was a stomach sleeper, but am too paranoid to sleep on my stomach. I sleep on my right side pretty much all the time, with my left arm over a pillow, so I won't roll over.
