  1. I totally agree. There are many times, that I really want to just keep eating, but I don't. I have to remind myself that I can't. It is an adjustment and the band is just a tool to help us. I'm so paranoid that I might do something to mess it up, that I really try to not eat more than a cup of food. I don't think of having the band as a diet; it's a lifestyle change.

    3rd Fill/No Fill

Thanks, everyone. Dadkins8, you are doing awesome! Project Disney, I hope you're doing well and Knoebelcamper, I look forward to hearing how you're doing.

    3rd Fill/No Fill

I went for my 3rd fill the day after my 4 month bandiversary. However, even though my weight loss has slowed, we did not add any fluid to the band. I don't have much fluid in the band, but my restriction seems to have been really good now for awhile. Because I don't get hungry, even at close to 5 hours sometimes, the PA felt that I didn't need a fill. I go back in a month and we'll see how things are then. I am happy that I've lost almost 40 lbs (should hit that mark in the next few days) in just over 4 months. I wish that I was losing closer to 2 lbs a week, but it really has seemed to only be a little more than 1 lb the last two to three weeks. Oh well, I'm not getting too disappointed. ..am soo, happy that people are really noticing and I've started trying some smaller sizes. Some things fit and some don't, but some of it is the cut of the clothes. I did buy smaller size underpants the other day and should go buy at least one or two new bras. I keep forgetting though. Well, that's all for now.

    Weight Loss vs. Muscle Loss

I had my 4 month bandiversary on 12/08/10. I definitely have gained muscle from excercising and even though muscle weighs more, I still know that it's all going to equal out in the end. Just keep exercising like you do. I will say that I tried to do some abdominal work the other day and I didn't like the way it felt, so I didn't do anymore. Good luck to you.

ONLY 1 CC FOR FIRST FILL

I've got just under 2cc in a 10cc band. At my 3rd fill appt this week, we didn't add any Fluid, because I seem to be doing pretty good. By that, I mean that I'm not getting hungry until close to 5 hours and sometimes when I eat at 5 hrs, I'm not really hungry and just eat something, because I need to get something in me.

    This band is so inconsistent:(

I think your band felt tight for 3 days, because your body was getting used to having more Fluid in it. How much food are you eating right now? I normally eat a cup of food. I like cottage cheese and when I have that, I can eat only 1/2 cup and be satisified. Good luck to you.

    NSV

That is awesome!!! Wow, 4cc? I have been banded for 4 months and have only had two fills of 1cc each. At my 3rd fill appointment we didn't add any afterall, because my restriction seems to be pretty good right now. Good luck to you.

    Hypo-Thyroidism and Weight Loss....?

I had my thyroid totally removed about 4 years ago and have been on Levothyroxine ever since. My weight has come off pretty quick (my 4 month bandiversary was 12/08/10), but has slowed down a little bit. I had to get to my doctor and she had to change my medication to a different dose. My weight loss (almost 40 lbs) affected how my medicine was working and my levels were really low. I am pretty sure that the reason my weight loss has slowed, is because of this and the fact that I think I've been eating too much bready/starchy food. It's not like it was a lot. Will definitely be cutting back down on that stuff. Good luck to you.
  9. I normally eat 1 cup of food. Sometimes it is a little bit more, but I make a conscious effort to not go over the 1 cup. So, my question is, is it okay if you eat a little more? If I think that I've eaten a little more than I should, I have something to drink to wash it out of the pouch. How much do you have to overeat for it to affect your pouch? Is it more if you consistently overeat?

    Six Months Come and Gone!!

Sandradee - Congratulations. I'm in the DFW area, so that caught my eye in your post. Hope you had good luck at the interview. You're doing great by the way.
  11. Thanks everyone. I appreciate your responses. Even though I've only had two fills (1cc each), I normally don't start getting hungy for 4 1/2 to 5 hours. My stomach doesn't growl so loud much like it did early on. I know if I am hearing it, it is getting time for me to eat. I think I do have some info/book from the doctor that mentions amount of food in ounces. I think it is something I need to work on, being careful to eat the right amount. The lady that has done both of my fills, said it's okay to drink during a meal. That's different than what I hear alot of people saying. ....but, if I'm drinking something with a meal, I still don't get hungry for 4 1/2 to 5 hours. Good luck to you all.

    why am i hungry ?

Randee - You're just eating 4oz? I guess you did just get banded recently, so I guess you'll work up to a little more. I eat 2/3 cup to 1 cup each meal. Somethings I've come to find make me more satisfied with a smaller amount. Like, cottage cheese. Good luck to you.

    Four things....

#1 - I do not like this new version of this website. #2 - Why is my blog now titled "Blog 95458"? Can I rename? I want to call it "Lemonchick's Blog" or something like that. #3 - I weigh myself everyday at the gym, before I work out. I weighed myself on Wednesday, before being off from work until today. ...and when I weighed myself today, I've lost two more pounds!!! ..am so excited. It seems like things have been slow, but realistically, I've done really well. #4 - At the thrift store this weekend I tried on a pair of pants in a size that I haven't worn in almost 15 years. They fit!! Only another pair in the same size and two a size bigger, didn't. I didn't care. I bought them all anyways. I'll fit in them soon enough. So, that's all for now. Short and Sweet. Lemonchick, over and out!
  14. I don't know what made me think to try it, but it must have been because I don't like the changes to this website. I signed off the site earlier and then as a guest, I clicked on at least one user profile. ....and lo' and behold, if someone is viewing the site as a guest (not registered on the site), they can see your profile information. I had pictures on here before, but haven't been able to find them since the change to the site. It was easier before the changes and when I tried to view my gallery as a guest, I couldn't see anything there either. But, I don't want anyone that might be "sneaky" to be able to find my b-day information and/or my location. I've changed my gender and b-day so they're not showing. I didn't remember having to put my city and state before, but when I tried to save the other changes, the site required me to put city, state and zip. What the?????? In this day and age, I do not feel safe having that info out there, so since it had to have something, I gave invalid info. So, I was curious to know what everyone else thinks.

4oz's does not equal 1/2 cup!

I eat a cup of food at every meal. At breakfast, sometimes I make a scramble of 1/2 cup potato, peppers, ham mix and one egg. It really looks like a lot of food.

    Driving myself crazy......

I think it sounds like too few calories. Your body will think it's not getting enough and it might backfire on you. How long ago were you banded? I think after two or three weeks after I was banded (09/08/10), I started trying different foods. I've not had a problem eating anything, I just make sure I chew whatever it is I am eating, really well and it seems to work. Good luck to you.

  19. I was banded on 09/08/10. I've lost about 37lbs so far. I have only had two fills, but I think they only put 2cc's each time. I have my 3rd, next week (finally!) and I'm ready for it, but the last couple of weeks or so have seemed slowish. I'll find out how much I have in then. Even though I think my restriction could be better, I have done really well, overall. Good luck to you.

    Have not exercised

Definitely, start with walking. You can do it.
  21. Today I went shopping at the thrift store. My new favorite place to shop, because you can find some decent stuff there really cheap and I'm not going to spend a lot of money on clothes that just aren't going to fit for very long (as I lose weight). Anyhow, I looked around forever and finally took a few pairs of pants and a couple tops to try on. I thought it would be interesting to try on smaller sizes and see what they felt like. None of the smaller size tops fit. No surprise there. I had pulled some size 14 jeans/pants and some size 16's. I've been wearing 18's. I think everyone knows that you can try something on in your size and it doesn't fit, because of the cut. Well, that happened to me. I fit into one pair of 16's and drumroll please.... I actually fit into a pair of size 14 pants. I started crying right there in the fitting room. I am sure that it has been almost 15 years since I've been able to wear a size 14. I ended up buying the two pairs of pants/jeans that fit and two pairs that don't fit quite yet, but I really liked them and I know they'll fit sometime in the next couple of months. So, I do have a message to sharing this story. If you're reading this and you've been struggling, just keep at it. I've been doing pretty well with my portion sizes, but I still want to eat more. I don't eat more, I just get mad that I can't, because I absolutely refuse to go through all this (the surgery, etc.) just to screw it up. My weight loss has been really slow for about 3 weeks, but I'm sticking with it. P.S. Make the thrift store your friend also. I got three pairs of pants, two shirts, a nice purse that looks brand new, some really cute chunky shoes that also look pretty new and a little knick-knack, all for $35 and some change.

    Any other liquid proteins?

I used Protein Bullet also. I had to hold my nose, so I wouldn't taste it. It was gross, but it really worked for me.

    Any December 1st Bandsters ?????

Good luck to you all. I was banded on 09/08/10. When I did my protein diet, I took a protein supplement that had 42 grams of protein. The first day was worst, because I didn't have the supplement, but when I used the supplement, I didn't have any problems with being hungry.

    Anyone on the pre-op diet?

I was banded 09/08/10 and the first day of the pre-op diet was the worst. I used a protein supplement called Protein Bullet that had 42 grams of protein. That is really what saved me. I usually had one of those every day. I really never had a problem with feeling hungry. Good luck to you.

    Help!!

Well, it sounds like you might be chewing fast, if it's only taking you that long to eat. ...but, if you're not having any problems, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I usually try to go 30 minutes. I've had the TrueResults people tell me that I should throw out whatever I haven't eaten in 30 mintues, but I don't (I usually finish) because I've measured out my 1 cup of food and I'm going to eat it.
