    I love cereal!!

I enjoy cereal also. I try to eat something whole grain. Right now, I have a box of Special K (and to be honest, it's the one with the chocolatey bits). I have 3/4 cup and usually 4-6 oz of skim milk. Sometimes I add dried cranberries also.

Are you open about being banded or

I've only told family, some people at church and two people at work (my boss, who said he'd take my secret to his grave (how sweet is that?) and the office nurse (just in case; she kinda has to keep it in confidence). I just don't want everyone to know. I don't want them to look down on me for choosing to get the band (everyone thinks it is a magic tool). Well, we still have to work at it even with the band.
  3. I just wanted to share the name of the broth that I found when I was on my pre-op diet last year. I know buy it when I have a fill. I wanted to share before, I just kept forgetting. The broth is called Savory Choice. It comes in a little orange/yellow/reddish small, box. There are two varieties (chicken & beef). I only get the chicken, because chicken's my favorite food. There are four packets (four servings) of broth concentrate in each box for about $2.19. You just add a cup of hot Water and stir. So, if you're looking for a good broth, you have to try this one. It is yummy with yummy on top.
  4. Hi. I was banded on 09/08/10 and I just wanted to share with you all the name of my favorite broth I found. I used it on my pre-op diet and now enjoy it when I'm on my liquid diet after fills. The broth is made by Savory Choice. There are two varieties that I know of (chicken & Beef). I've only had the chicken. This is a Gluten Free, No MSG, broth concentrate. It comes in a small yellow & orange box that has 4 little tube packets of the concentrate (1 serving each packet). All you do is add 1 cup of hot Water. I buy this broth at Kroger grocery stores. I don't know who else carries it, but if you're looking for a good tasty broth, you should look for it. It is the best broth I've ever had.

    Frozen dinners?

I buy them, but it seems like even the small ones are a larger portion than we're supposed to be eating. I have some in the freezer right now, that I need to take to work. Good luck to you.

    Feeling discouraged

Keep doing what you're doing. You made the choice that was right for you. I have only told family, a few people at church and two people I trust at work (my boss, who said he'd take my secret to his grave and the nurse at my office, who has to keep it confidential). I just didn't want people that I work with know about my getting the band. The problem is now that everyone's noticed I'm losing weight, they're asking what I'm doing. I tell them I had to make changes because my dr. said so and that I had to change how I eat. I also talk about exercising. As far as I know, nobody suspects anything. Good luck to you, blissa033.

    Keep the "fat" comments coming.....

Some people are just bitter. Hang in there. Sounds like you are. I'm sorry to hear that you lost a baby. I'm sure that was very tough. Good luck to you.

Good luck. I was banded in early September. I haven't felt comfortable doing abdominal exercises.

I think I'm getting past my first plateau....

Pretty much all of December, I flip-flopped back and forth between 178 and 175. My thyroid medication had to be changed, because of how much weight I had lost. I am hoping I am back on track, because I finally made it to 174 this week. I was starting to get frustrated, but had to tell myself that I had done really good overall. I've now gotten just past the 40 lbs lost mark. Now, my next goal is to get to 160. My birthday is in early March, so that's my deadline for this goal. I think it may be tough, but I'm going to try. Finally, I didn't make a "I'm going to lose weight" New Year's Resolution. I made a "I'm going to do 6 5K walks" New Year's Resolution. I know, I know, it is just walking, but I'm just not a runner and don't plan to be at this point. So, I will check back in, in a couple weeks and let you know how I'm doing.

    Questioning myself

You can do it. It is a journey. I got banded on 09/08/10 and have now finally gotten to the 40 lb mark. I see on the post-op forum, that some people only lose a little in the same amount of time that someone else might lose alot. Everyone's different. I've been lucky and haven't had problems with any food. My struggle is mentally, with telling myself to stop eating at 1 cup of food. Good luck to you.

    surgery wed and chickening out!!

Marisas, I hope you went through with it. I got the band on 09/08/10 and have not had problems with any food. I've lost 40 lbs. I do struggle with only eating small amounts and wanting to eat more, but I tell myself, that I got the band for a reason and I don't want to screw it up. I am winning the battle against my wanting to eat and eat and then eat some more. I know that I am getting enough. Good luck to you.

    Bandsters Hell

Hang in there. My weight loss has slowed down, but seems to be possibly picking up again (mostly due to thyroid meds), but I still struggle mentally with wanting to keep eating. Sometimes I do have an extra bite or so after I have my cup of food. I do usually drink some with my meals (my lapband fill person said it was ok), but I don't eat any more than that. I don't snack between meals and I sometimes don't even get hungry w/4 1/2 to 5 hrs between meals.

    NSV!!!!!!!!

Congratulations!!! I fit into a size 14 pair of pants (out of the few pairs of 14's that I tried, it was the only pair that fit) at the thrift store and started crying in the fitting room. It is so awesome to start being able to fit in smaller clothes. Keep it up.

    Dry skin!!!!

I've had bouts of very, dry skin. For me, it was due to my thyroid levels being off. Very, dry skin can be a sign of low thyroid levels.

Would this be ok on pur?ed diet?

I agree that it's not the healthiest choice. I have had some however and had no problem. If I eat something that I know isn't a real healthy option, I just make sure my other meals are healthy. I like the idea of the ricotta cheese, pasta sauce & meat.

    Head Hunger or Real Hunger

For me, even when I had the really loud tummy growling, I didn't really feel hungry, but I knew my body was saying it was. Head hunger for me, is when my head hurts (obviously) and I feel weak. ....but, I've been really lucky and have only felt bad like that maybe once since I got banded. I've only had two fills, but I did liquids for at least a day and a half or two and then soft foods.

    Approved!!

    Good luck to you!

    Day 2 Post Op

Definitely drink fluids. ...at least water. I found a really good chicken broth, that came as a concentrate in little packets. I wish I could remember the name of it (I have a box at work), because it was the best broth I've ever had. I think the popsicles are good also. I think you should be able to take in as much fluid as you are comfortable with. Good luck.

    Thyroid surgery after Lap-Band?

I had a total thyroidectomy about 4 1/2 years ago and was just banded this past September. My meds have been adjusted ( I stopped losing) and will probably need to be adjusted again. I am surprised that you had thyroid removed after having lapband. Did you have nodules on your thyroid? Is that why yours was removed? I had nodules on the thyroid, which they could not determine if they were cancerous or not, so that's why mine was removed. I also was hypothyroid.

    Weight Watchers help

I've been thinking about signing up for Weight Watchers or Nutrisystem, just so I can get the small food portions.

    1/2 cup of food

I don't enjoy salad like I did before. I normally eat a cup of food. I'm aiming to maybe try to get to just having 3/4 to 1 cup of food, but I think I'm doing just fine with 1 cup.
  23. Chewables or gummies. I was using gummies, but stopped taking them. Your post just reminded me that I wanted to start taking them again.
  24. I'm not at my "maintenance" level, but I do treat myself to bites of treats. I feel that it is better to have a bite "here and there" than to eat like a whole slice of pie or cake. I feel that I'm pretty well, so I don't worry about it, as long as I'm careful about everything else I am eating.

    Lack of Motivation

I was told by the lady that does my fills, that it is okay to drink with a meal. Of course though, I just try to remember to just sip and I never eat more because I have something to drink. Good luck to you. I don't recall, have you met with a nutrionist? Maybe you can try joining Nutrisystem and eat those meals. They'd be good portion sizes for you and you could eat stuff you like. Take care.
