What I'm cooking for dinner tonight!
She Smiles replied to Luscious's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ewww canned dough.... Thats a hilarious story about the pumpkin! My mother in law sent us canned pumpkin so we could make pumpkin pie for halloween a few years back (in fact we still have 2 cans in the cupboard!). It is REVOLTING. Pumpkin shouldn't be eaten sweet and it shouldn't be pre prepared. Its just not right. Pumpkin like we have it is just hard to find over there, its just not eaten as a veggie like we do, savoury. There are a few varieties of "squash" (which is more like a butternut) that are eaten as veggie where my hubby is from. -
Are most having chewable vitamins

I take an effervescent (soluble) berroca multi vitamin. I let the fizz go out of it before I drink it. -
Wow Josh, looking good!

I have an American husband and even he doesn't know some of the foods I ask him about off this forum. I just asked him what grits were and he didn't know what they are made of, so we wikipedia'ed it. They are the corn equivalent of oats/porridge. Good for Breakfast apparently. Not sure how pork comes into the picture though - maybe one of our American friends can shed some light on that!? Next time we go back to the US to visit the inlaws, I'm going to hunt down some canned chicken just to see what it looks like, I'm not sure I'm brave enough to actually eat it :wink2: -
Can you just imagine the sexiest high heals u would like to wear...

Either of these Jimmy Choos! But for me its more about being able to afford them.....I know they're hand made blah blah but $800+ for a pair of shoes?!!?! :wink2: -
I get mine from Kmart, its a Hestia brand one and costs $20! I have gone from a 22DD to a 12D. I've gotten the same style from when I was about a 16D, I've just stuck with it because it fits and feels good on. It definitely keeps everything in place when I'm running! I definitely think getting a sizing done is a good idea if you're not sure what size you are now. Maybe try Bras n Things, Myer or David Jones, they'll usually do a sizing for you for free :huh2:

I think in some situations I am not as nice simply because I'm not afraid to stand up for myself and won't take crap from people now. Its like losing the weight has given me the confidence to tell people when I'm not happy with something. So I guess I am a bit more of a bitch, but its in defense of myself, which I think is a good thing!

I want to lose another 15 pounds or so or get down to a comfortable boutique store Australian size 10 (US 6) which ever is smaller. I still have too much flab for my liking. I want to be thin.

I know we all want results NOW NOW NOW, but your surgeon has your best interests at heart in doing this. I didn't vomit/PB until I was TOO tight with fills months and months after surgery, so it sounds like he's doing the right thing. The best thing you can do is try to be patient, as hard as it may be. This is a life time commitment and you will get there if you are committed! In the mean time, we are here for support!

And they had to say "I don't know"

Yes Nat! When I think about how heavy what I have lost - 47+kilos is, I wonder how I even walked around with it on me! No wonder I had constant back pain and knee problems! But if you feel ready for running now, do it! We're all different, and it sounds like you're motivated to start. Just try and see how you go, if you don't feel right, leave it a couple of weeks and then try again. You'll get there!

I'm currently training for my first half marathon next month (if a knee injury I have can be sorted out), so running is a big chunk of my exercise and has been for about 6 months now. I'm running 30+km a week at the moment over 4 or 5 days, this will increase over the next few weeks as the half draws closer. I started yoga a few weeks ago, and I LOOOOOOOOVE it. Its a great change from the fast pace of running all the time and its a bit cliched, but I feel more in tune with my body when I do it. I do ashtanga yoga and am also going to start a hatha yoga class in mid May. I also have some free weights I bought a couple of weeks ago. My gym membership lapsed in January and I thought it was time I got back to doing some toning and strength exercises too. I track all my exercise on my blog too, theres a link in my sig below.

If I knew what I knew today ...
She Smiles replied to BandedMomX6's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Absolutely without a doubt I would do it again, I would have done it earlier if I'd known how it would give me my life back. I've not had any complications, have lost almost all of the weight I wanted to (its been harder the last 20ish pounds, but its still slooooooowly coming off) and am now active, healthy and happy. Life is good. -

Ooooh I've never seen them in the stores. I bet they are GREAT. Yum. -
Oh man, I would be spending ALL my pay there, I wouldn't be able to help myself..... so does the discount extend to friends? My husband works at Woolworths grocery store, and we get 5% off, but thats no where near as fun!

I don't have loose skin as such, but more a layer of fat with skin of it that jiggles more than I would like it to on my back, hips and stomach. My arms and thighs aren't taut, but I can totally live with them. I've seen a plastic surgeon and he recommended a lower body lift. I have pretty much consistently exercised since 2 months after my surgery and am now (pending the outcome of a series of physio visits for an injury) training for a half marathon next month. I'm running 4 days a week, doing strength/weight training 3 days and doing yoga one day. I made a deal with myself when I had the surgery that the band was going to help me lose weight but that I needed to change my lifestyle too. Exercise has played a bit part in my losing weight, but still being able to eat like a normal (banded) person.

Up top weight loss (ladies)
She Smiles replied to la8again's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Whats left of my boobs is a 14C or 12D depending on the bra. I started at a 20DD. I recall someone once posting about this exact topic saying that theirs were like 2 wet sports socks hanging on their chest - I can totally relate. Thank goodness for good bras that keep me looking my age when I'm clothed! -
If I had another 6 inches on me like you Jacqui I reckon I'd look GREAT at this weight! I saw your last photo when you posted it and you definitely look thin, athletic and very fit to me - just the look I'm aiming for! I know we're all our own worst critics though!

Has anyone been told by friends they to thin
She Smiles replied to slimmy120's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No one has said I'm too thin, but more increasingly people are making comments like "you're wasting away, or you're getting really skinny, or are you done losing weight yet". I find it incredibly rude to be honest coming from the random people at work who choose to keep saying things like that to me. They're not friends, and not even people I work directly with. Its none of their business why or how I lost the weight and its my business and mine alone if I want to lose more, because I am actually still overweight! I just kind of look at them like are you effing kidding and walk away. Funny thing is I've only lost about 10 pounds since Last December, and I've gotten the most comments since then. Its like me telling them they need to stop being ugly or lazy or something like that, which I would NEVER do because my mother taught me manners and how to mind my own business. Theres a line and people never seem to amaze me how they cross it when it comes to this subject. -
I'm running 4 days a week at the moment (anywhere from 6-10km) I'm training towards doing my first half marathon on May 18, so the distances will increase over the next 5 weeks. I am also doing yoga an hour a week in a class (I've just discovered it and LOVE it). I just last weekend bought some weights to do at home, so I will use them 3 times a week and do some stretching and yoga as well.
