    Amount of Calories??????

You have to realize that most people preband have been eating in excess of 2500+ calories every day. So eating between 1000-1200 calories is a dramatic cut in the amount of calories eaten . Therefore, the band is doing exactly what it is designed to do.

    Calling all Texas Bandsters

My husband and I were both banded by Dr. Kim. We are in North FW/Keller. He has been fantastic!!!!

    August Rush in bandland!

AARRGGHHHH!!!! Ok, everyone, I just need a moment to vent...so I'm apologizing in advance. I posted a little over a week ago about the fact that I have been having trouble swallowing (it was just a thread on the post op board). Anyway, I had all the fluid taken out of my band last Monday, because it was causing really bad "reflux". They put me on the Prevacid disolving tablets and I have been on liquids for the last 5 weeks (two pre op and three post)!!! I am missing chewing food! Anyway, I went back today because the problem has improved very slightly, but not much. I had another swallow and the fluid is still stopping about 2 inches above my band. It does eventually go down, but it sits for a long time before it moves. When the PA saw my barium swallow today he told me that in seeing over 4000+ LAP-BAND® patients he has never seen anyone with anything like it. He had no idea what the problem is, he said the band is placed perfectly, and there is nothing wrong that he can see. So, I have an appointment with the surgeon on Wednesday, and hopefully he has more insight into what is going on. Unfortunatly I have to be on liquids for another week!!!! I'm trying really really hard to stay positive, but shoot this is getting tough. I'm hoping whatever the issue is it either goes away on its own, or it is a really easy fix....but I'm grateful for our little forum that allows me to vent to people who aren't going to say..."I told you you shouldn't have had surgery......" So thanks! Camille

    August Rush in bandland!

I hope so! I told the nurse I would rather have a looser band than to feel that way again! She agreed and said being too tight is very counterproductive. So here's to hoping I don't ever feel that way again!

    August Rush in bandland!

I had my post op appointment today. The last few days I have been having trouble swallowing my liquids, so when I called over the weekend, the doc put me on clear liquids hoping that whatever was going on would work itself out. When I did my barium swallow at the office this morning, the liquids would barely go through my band. So, I had a total unfill. I had 3 cc's in my band!!! The NP was surprised there was so much in there. She said that after surgery there is usually .5-1 cc's left in. Apparently I also have reflux really bad, so the fluids were stuck going up and down in my throat.....hence the horrible feeling I've been having in my throat! So, at least now I know what too tight feels like! I am on clear liquids for another day, but then I have to do an extra week of full liquids Hopefully, the feeling in my throat will go away soon though!

    Stuck on soup?

So I just got back from the doctor. I had 3 cc's of fluid in my band! She took it all out and said I should start to feel lots better. Unfortunatly, I have to do an extra week of liquids now

    Stuck on soup?

Thanks for the responses. It was a very thin strained cream of chicken made with skim milk and water, that was ok'd by my doctor. I did call my doctor and they said it is just random post op swelling. Also that there is fluid in my band now and that maybe they need to take some out. She also said that it could be residiual gas building up. So hopefully all will settle down soon
  11. I am 11days post op and on a full liquid diet. Yesterday I was having soup and felt like something was stuck in my throat. The feeling lasted for a good five hours. This morning I woke up feeling great. After my second protein shake, however, I got that same stuck feeling. That was at noon (six hours ago) and I haven't been able to drink anything since. Just wondering what some other thoughts are from those with more experience than me Also, how long does a "stuck" feelig usually last? Thanks!

I love the attitude!! Keep up the fantastic work!
  13. Thanks Shelly! Sorry I didn't write before, but I always check posts on my phone, and it doesn't show all my messages and cool stuff! Surgery was good, I am a week out now and doing good. My port is still really sore, but hopefully soon it will stop! Good luck on your journey!!

    August Rush in bandland!

I wish I knew! I am 6 days post op and yesterday and today my stomach has been full of pressure. I'm assuming it is still swelling and gas, but I'm not sure. It feels likes I'm 9 months pregnant with all the pressure and full feeling! Otherwise it sounds like most everyone is doing great with their surgeries! I love reading all the progress being made!

Mine also comes and goes. It is sometimes like I just ran a mile and have a huge stitch in my side that takes my breath away, and other times it is hardly noticable.
