Starting my Pre-Opt diet this Friday. I can't believe how fast the time has gone. This week I have all my Dr's appointments for bloodwork and all of that so I should be ready for my surgery in a few weeks. I am really looking forward to starting a new chapter in my life. A little nervous but mostly excited.

Cloe if you want my advice (and I guess it doesn't really matter if you want it or not cause you are going to get in anyway) is to try out the machine before you buy it. I got an eliptical because it was cheaper than gettting a treadmill and because it looked like a better workout but seriously the machine kills me. I am on it for like 5 min before my knees go all shakey and then I force myself to stay on it for another 5 to 10 depending on how much I can take. It's weird because when I bought the machine I was running so it's not like I was supper unfit or that my knees are bad and was just trying something for the first time. Some people are great at the eliptical and can just glide like a gazelle but on that machine I am just a dying sacraficial antelope waiting for the lion. Anyway my advice is to try it first :lost1.5lbs:

Hey Cloe, Just to let you know I left a msg with Dr. C's office last week and it took them a while to get back to me. In fact I just heard back from them yesterday. I think the reason it is taking them a while to get back to people is because Dr. C just started back at work this week from his holidays and I think they are also in the process of moving the office if I remember correctly. Anyway just trying to ease your mind. :lost1.5lbs:

Sorry Janice I don't think his new building plans are online. I saw the plans for the new office when I was in the waiting room for my consult. It was an artists concept drawing of what the building would look like from the outside. Very Nice! That's why I am so curious to see what it looks like when I go for my surgery. Not that it really matters. I am going to Dr. C because after my research and after meeting him I just felt comfortable with him and had a great deal of respect and trust in him. There are so many good Dr's out there as I am sure you are finding by reading these posts. Hope you find the one that you are most comfortable with as well.

Dr. Cobourn's office will be moving (or maybe has moved) not too sure. Anyway the plans look really amazing. The office will still be in Mississauga at 1421 Hurontario St. I had my consult at the old office which I will admit was not that special looking :phanvan but thanks to Mandi's post awhile back I was forwarned. Anyway the new place looks awesome and when I go for my surgery in Feb I will be getting it done in the new building. Pretty excited to see what it looks like and to see if it looks like the building plans.

Hey All, So I am looking at this Medicard brochure that I got at Dr. Cobourns. Has anyone used them to help pay for the surgery? Are they any good? I see that they do automatic debit from your account. That always makes me nervous and the fact that they don't advertise the interest also is a little unnerving. Please let me know what your story is with them, if any. :help:

Hi Everyone, Thanks for all your replies. I called Medicard and talked to them about all my concerns. We were able to work out a decent interest rate that is lower than what they wanted I am sure but is a rate that I can be comfortable with. I am waiting to sign the papers till I go over them at least a hundred times but I think I will use Medicard after all. I was going to use my bank for a loan but I have relatives that work for the bank I use and I am not telling ANYONE (but mom) about this so I really didn't want to go that route. Anyway I am feeling a lot more comfortable with this decision. SO again thanks for all your replies.

Well I had the appointment with Dr. Cobourn and he seems like a great person and a great Dr. He took the time to answer all my questions and made me feel totally at ease. Anyway I have since made the date for the Big Day and I will be banded at the begining of February (it was the earliest he could do it). I was just told today that my package of goodies for the surgery and the pre op has come in the mail and I can't wait to go through it and plan for the day. If I have a secret smile on my face throughout the holidays it's only cause I am imagining what I will look like and how I will feel this time next year!

I totally understand the problem that you are having right now. My group of friends is very tight and we tell each other everything. However topics like weight and money do not always go over well. I have decided not to tell ANYONE except my mom and dad that I am getting the Band. And the only reason I am telling them is because I will need some support for the operation. Once you tell you can't take it back, and unfortunately people tend to see weight loss surgey as an easy way out for big lazy people. We know that isn't true and that we still have to work at it but others don't see it that way. Plus I figure it's like when people know you are on a diet and they monitor you and point out mistakes or flaws or whatever. For me I find it easier not to tell. But if the time comes when I feel I need to share I will for sure be careful who and how I tell my secret.

Well now Cloe I have seen his picture so I can admit that he does have nice eyes. However I also hear he has a nice wife who works just outside his door. Too bad! Maybe when I am there I will be lucky enough to meet some young hot Dr. who is there to train or something. Now that would be sweet.

I tell ya, there are a ton of just nosey people on this forum! Don't worry I am too. I have been lurking on this site for a couple weeks now but have only recently registered since making the decision to Band. The name I use on here is nothing special. Dame because I would like to be knighted and I don't think the Queen will be doing that anytime soon so I might as well do it myself. And J because my real name starts with a J. As for where I am from... I come from Toronto about 30 - 40 min from the good Dr. who will hopefully band me.

Thanks for the welcome all. I can't wait untill I go for the consult. I have been looking into this for awhile, and now that I have made the decision I just want it to happen now now now. Anyway Argon to answer your question I am from Toronto so I am not too far away from the Dr's office. I will for sure keep you posted on how the consult goes.

Very excited!!! I have my first appointment with Dr. Cobourn next week and reading these posts made me feel great about my choice. People seem to really like him I don't think I have been able to find one bad thing about him. Anyway very exctied to meet him and start a new chapter in my life. Hopefully thinner chapters. :peep:
