Family Stressing Me Out 2 Days Before Big Day. Help!
BlackBerryJuice replied to Misstxdiva's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
*hugs* It'll be over before you know it! And like others said, great job on stopping yourself before binging at the movies! Way to start building good habits before you're even sleeved! -
Going Alone
BlackBerryJuice replied to Paula Spurlock Butts's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to Mexico alone and did just fine. I was starting to get a bit bored by the end of my 2nd day, but that's what Skype is for! As soon as I woke up, I made sure to call my mother and tell her that no, I did NOT end up dead and dismembered in the dumpster behind the hospital as she expected me to. -
Cant Take Much Time Off From School :/
BlackBerryJuice replied to sashadee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A week should be ok. The second week is not so much about pain, but rather just feeling weak and tired. You might not be starving on a liquid diet post-sleeve, but you will still feel worn out. I had my surgery on a Monday and took my last painkiller Friday night of that same week. My last daytime painkiller was on a Wednesday. -
Turbo Fire, P90X, 10 Minute Trainer Dilema
BlackBerryJuice replied to Anna L.'s topic in Fitness & Exercise
I wouldn't do P90X if you are only a month out AND have an injury. Not familiar with the other programs. -
I'm Rockin' Lilmissdiva's Boot Camp...it Works!
BlackBerryJuice replied to Lisa :)'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, good work! Looked at the plan, it sounds pretty reasonable. For some reason I thought it was the same day as the 5-day pouch test, which involves liquids only for a period of time - I'm not a fan of that and it's definitely very difficult to handle. This plan sounds like a much better approach to jump-starting your weightloss and getting junk food cravings out of your system. -
Oh my gawwwwd....I just tried THIS and it was amazing; perfect-sized portions, too.

http://health.msn.com/health-topics/articlepage.aspx?cp-documentid=100266894 In a nutshell, it's not good for you and also pretty pointless. You are better off doing what you were doing before - and lifting heavier weights. 1 lbs doesn't do much. You might as well walk with your Water bottle then.

What Whole Foods Are Highest In Protein?
BlackBerryJuice replied to betterthanbefore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tons of options. Obviously, any sort of fish, poultry, pork, beef, game meats, seafood. Dairy - Greek yogurt, leaner cheeses, skim/lowfat milk. Eggs, egg whites. And, of course, anything you can mix protein powder in, ranging from pudding to homemade banana bread. -
A Month Out -49 Lbs.

Wow! That's a crazy amount of weightloss! -
Why Cant They Just Tie The Stomach Instead Of Cutting It Out Permanently?
BlackBerryJuice replied to betterthanbefore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are basically describing the theory behind the band. We all know how great that worked out! Besides, the second you'd "untie" it (or loosen the band), you'd be packing on like 20 lbs a month. -
A Story From A Newbie
BlackBerryJuice replied to NancyJerry's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I never understood why people who are anti-bariatric surgery go work with bariatric surgery patients....can't they find some other place to be all high and mighty, like an STD clinic or something? -
Damn Easter Candy
BlackBerryJuice replied to Jlo77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm buying some on sale. I've got 2 large bags of Mini eggs already, they've been hidden in my dishwasher (which I don't use) to minimize odds of me getting into them. I've only dipped in the bag once so far, and it's been two weeks! I'm going to Purdy's (a chocolate place, like a step below Godiva) today to stock up on some fancy eggs they have. Seems like I have decent enough self control to keep things like that in the house now. I love my sleeve! -
Don Get It Confused, Im A Drinker! Not An Alcoholic!
BlackBerryJuice replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't drink much. I've never been much of a drinker, and alcohol is the first thing to go from my diet when I'm trying to drop some weight, just because it's the worst combo as far as taste vs. nutrition go! The one thing I noticed about alcohol that concerns me is how hungry I am after and how disinhibited I am about food choices. I've always read in Women's Health and similar mags that alcohol makes you more likely to choose unhealthy foods, but I didn't actually notice that until after the sleeve. Yesterday we went to a family dinner; every single person there drank, even the 92-yo greatgrandma - except for me! So proud of myself! -
Protein Shake Questions
BlackBerryJuice replied to Back~To~Amy's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
You can make it with fruit, but that's a lot of filler. You'll get used to it. I challenge you to make a shake with PVL whey Gourmet Peanut Butter chocolate Protein powder, a tbsp of peanut butter, and skin milk and then tell me you didn't like it! -
Your Saturday - Sunday Discussion
BlackBerryJuice replied to Lilee84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a 4-day weekend, it's pretty sweet. We went to my fiance's grandparents' for a family gathering today. Tomorrow, we're going to see a puppet show. Other than that, a run here and there and just hanging out. -
Soooo, I don't know if I mentioned this before, but my goal is to finish my 5K under 30 mins - I always finish around 31 mins, +/- 30 seconds. I went on the Runner's World forums to see if anyone had an answer to the question I posted earlier about doing C25K for several days in a row, and of course I clicked on the "Is it possible to just be bad at 5Ks?" thread, thinking this would be the place for me. PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT 21-MIN 5Ks on there!!!!!!!

Need Protein Information
BlackBerryJuice replied to Cherrybomb's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
That's not true, casein and soy proteins are also complete. -
Finally got around to week 5, Day 2 - aka 2 8-min runs without stopping! Surprisingly, I did it. I developed awful stitches by the end of the first interval, though, and they didn't go away til the end of the workout. I powered through! Unfortunately, I must've accidentally pressed something on my iPhone halfway through, and it erased the entire first half of my workout, so I didn't get a readout of my pace! GRRR! I mapped out my route on Gmaps Pedometer and it looks like the first time, I covered around 1 mile in the first 8 minutes and 0.9 mile in the second 8 mins, so I'm pretty happy! Question for you guys - have any of you ever done the C25K workouts 2 days in a row? I'm a bit behind on my schedule and my gym's closed til Tuesday, so I figured this long weekend might be a good time to catch up. My next workout is the 20-min unbroken run, so I just wanted to make sure I'm not gonna be burnt out if I do it tomorrow.

Truth Moment: Does It Piss Anyone Else Off To Hear People Say The Surgery Is The Easy Way Out? Or You Could Just Stop Eating.
BlackBerryJuice replied to Anewlifeforme23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No one's ever told it to me, partly because I don't disclose it to that many people, and the ones I did tell aren't that rude. But honestly, it's not often that I see someone who I'd honestly say has a better body than me, and why would I take advice from someone who's in worse shape than me? And the people who DO have a better body than me work SO hard for it - I respect that but I'm just not willing to torture myself that much (zero processed food, no dairy, no grain, etc). -
How far out are you? I'm assuming just a week or so post-op? Technically, I think they say no more than 10 lbs. Any way you could split your stuff and make 2 trips to the car and back?

All My Weight Is In My Legs And Butt
BlackBerryJuice replied to betterthanbefore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, a little bit. I carry my weight in my inner thighs and right under my butt, it's kind of annoying. I still have some fat there, but part of it is definitely loose skin. It kind of sucks, because I decided to improve my diet in hopes of getting rid of some of that, but since I know some of it is loose skin, I'm aware that no matter how well I eat and how much I exercise, it still won't look the way I'd like it to look. But yes, building up muscle in that area will help somewhat. Last year when I got down to my lowest weight (136), my butt was remarkably flat and totally saggy, and it even hurt to sit! I've been doing Crossfit since and have built up my butt a LOT. I found some old profile pix from last year the other day, so I took some new ones, and I can see the difference. You can see I had so much loose skin last summer that there was an actual skin fold under my underwear! Not to mention, my butt actually kind of sticks out now, instead of there being a straight line from the back of my head down to my heels....lol. I look forward to seeing what it'll look like a year from now.
