My Plastics Journey - My first one (of several)
BlackBerryJuice replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Woah, I totally missed this thread as I don't go in this forum very often.....You look great! TBH, I had no idea lipo could look so good on a WLS patient....I would've expected the skin to sag, which is my big reason for not doing it. But after seeing your results, I guess I was wrong! Do you have any photos of your inner thighs? That's my problem area and it's tough to tell how much fat vs. loose skin is in there. I'd be interested in seeing how that area looks after lipo, as I'm afraid of trading soft flab for wrinkly, saggy skin - which would be a downtrade in my books! If you don't want to post them publicly, you can PM me - I'd appreciate seeing them. It's hard to find good post-WLS photos of lipo online. -
How Many Calories A Day Do You Usually Eat?
BlackBerryJuice replied to Michellefaina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
19 months out. I consume 1800-2200 calories a day. -
Finally got around to running! Did Week 6, Day 1 - 5-min jog, 3-min walk, 8-min jog, 3-min walk, and 5-min jog. It was pretty manageable, and I actually had a pretty good pace - 6:44 per km overall, which is much faster than before (around 7 min per km). I ran 3.8+ km during the 20-min workout portion, which means finishing a 5K under 30 minutes shouldn't be a problem! Probably won't get a chance to run again til Sunday....

Frozen Yogurt In Shakes?
BlackBerryJuice replied to beachlover1129's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I wouldn't do it, either. I'd rather add actual fruit, like frozen strawberries or blueberries, or peanut butter if I wanna spice up a shake. Unsweetened cocoa powder is also good - it's also high in fiber. -
Seasoned Sleevers
BlackBerryJuice replied to ProudGrammy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I definitely think that eating properly is still paramount. While I don't feel that my restriction has changed much at, say, 10 months vs. 19 months out, I have more of a sweet tooth now - although certainly not as much as pre-op! If you indulged at every meal, you'd absolutely gain weight. It wouldn't be 10 lbs a month, but I'm sure you could gain 2-3 lbs a month without a problem. Say, I had a chocolate Easter egg about every other day last week; that's 200 calories. I can eat a whole egg in one sitting without any issue. If I had, say, 2-3 eggs a day - one in the morning, one with lunch, one at night - that's 600-700 calories extra! Same with things like chips, Pasta with cream sauce, or other fatty things. Yeah, you can only eat a small serving at a time, maybe 200-300 calories' worth, but you can certainly find a way to stuff 5 of these servings into yourself over the course of a whole day. drinks are another problem! I personally enjoy lattes, and I have to be mindful that essentially, one latte = 1 serving of chocolate as far as calories go. I like to have 2 a day, but if I'm having dessert that day, I cut it down to one or, if I'm feeling ambitious, none at all. -
Anyone Start Out With Low Weight To Lose, Wondering What To Expect..
BlackBerryJuice replied to hrtgoeson's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got sleeved at 208 lbs and was at my goal weight - 145 lbs and about 24 BMI - after about 5 months. I eventually leveled out around 140. -
Are you exercising at all? If not, you should. It will help not only in terms of burning more calories and increasing your metabolism, but it also helps you make better food choices. You just don't feel like eating crap after working out hard. Not to mention, one hour at the gym - one hour you are not eating, lol.

Hey team, I bought a P90X set last year, but I've got a membership to a Crossfit gym plus I'm running now, so I've realized that I won't have time for P90X anytime in the near future. Looking to sell it, it's been opened but not used, so the DVDs should all be in tip-top shape. I'm in Canada and I'll take Paypal. Make me an offer via PM.

I would wait til you are under 200, for the above mentioned reasons. You can try walking on incline instead to get your heart rate up.

My shoe size hasn't changed - I wish! I'm a 9.5, if I were a 9, life would be much easier.

Can U Ever Have?
BlackBerryJuice replied to chasitybeatty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never have pain with carbonated drinks, I have them maybe 2 times a week on average - not necessarily pop, I also drink kombucha and mineral water. I only take a few sips at a time and let myself burp in between, though. The burps are silent, btw, lol! It'd take me like an hour to finish a can of pop. I imagine if I gulped it down, I'd be pretty uncomfortable. -
Guess I Didn't Need To Worry About Not Running At All For 3 Weeks Before My 10K Race
BlackBerryJuice replied to fern's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Wow! Aren't you glad you went ahead and did it? -
I was also a bit nervous about the pain, but I have a decent pain tolerance otherwise, so I figured I'd suck it up. I actually found the pain pretty manageable! The only time it really bothered me was the first night post-op - it wasn't torturous or anything, but strong enough to prevent me from sleeping. Otherwise, I'd compare it to how your abs are sore a day after a really tough workout - you feel it when you make a sudden movement or sit up on the bed, but otherwise, it's just a bit of an ache. I had my surgery on a Monday and took my last daytime painkiller on that Thursday, I think, mostly just because it was the day that I flew back, and I had 2 pretty long flights. I took my last nighttime painkiller either that same night or Friday night, I don't remember. No more after that.

I Don't Think I Can Do This...
BlackBerryJuice replied to DaniEA's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I'm 19+ months and yes, I can eat anything. I eat some sort of treats on a regular basis, too, just not every day and not in massive quantities. E.g. I had a chocolate peanut butter Easter egg on Wed, Thu, and Fri, but made a point of no more desserts this weekend or tomorrow. -
I Don't Think I Can Do This...
BlackBerryJuice replied to DaniEA's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
You won't have hunger like that post-op, guaranteed. I'm not one of the lucky ones who say they never get hungry post-op, but even though I do, it's nothing like the kind of hunger I had pre-op. -
Considering Vsg Surgery - Wondering How Common Revisions Are Down The Road?
BlackBerryJuice replied to MyGastricSleeveLife's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
What do you mean by revision surgery? You can't really undo the VSG, it's permanent (you can add bypass or DS to it, tho). -
I have to say, ribs were the single toughest food for me to eat post-sleeve. I'd be able to eat grilled chicken or a piece of steak no problem, but the second I swallowed 1 bite of BBQ ribs, I'd be in terrible discomfort. And that's like a year out! However, finally the last 2 times I had them, now that I'm 1.5+ years out, it was fine.

For Those Over 6 Months Out..
BlackBerryJuice replied to AngieG0410's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
19+ months out. I suppose this is not a "typical" day because I'm on call at the hospital from 7 AM to 10 PM, so it's an eat-whenever-you-can kind of deal and I brought everything from home. Bfast: chicken caesar salad (random, I know) Snack: 1 packet oatmeal with 1% milk, tbsp Peanut Butter, and 1/2 scoop chocolate PB Protein powder Snack: 1 Oikos yogurt Snack: banana (Very) late lunch: 1 shrimp quesadilla with some guac and sour cream Snack: grapefruit Snack: another Oikos yogurt Dinner: probably another bowl of oatmeal with PB/protein powder -
I didn't really have a grand last meal, I just are whatever I wanted for the preceding month - if I felt like a KitKat or an ice cream bar, I'd just have one! Put on like 10 lbs in a month, lol.

Losing Without Protein Drinks?
BlackBerryJuice replied to Cherrybomb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Protein doesn't help you drop pounds, but it helps your body recover post-surgery and afterwards, it helps minimize the amount of muscle you burn, which in turn prevents your metabolism from slowing down too much. -
