Gallbladder
BlackBerryJuice replied to ShouldBlittler's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They should be able to! It's better that way - if you do it separately, then the 2nd operation would be more difficult because of adhesions. -
Did You Quit Coffee? If So, How?
BlackBerryJuice replied to feszyk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually picked up a coffee habit post-sleeve - mainly in an effort to minimize my soda consumption, which has worked well. I went through a coffee + half-n-half phase, but realized the calories were not much lower than in a latte, and lattes taste better, so I drink 1-2 lattes a day now. I just factor in the calories and eat less on days when I have 2. -
When Did You Start Intense Workout After Surgery
BlackBerryJuice replied to Jennyg1987fw's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I think I hit the gym "hard" about 2+ months out - as in, bootcamp workouts. I started working out at low intensity before that - light weights, elliptical, etc. -
This made me laugh, because it reminded me of this: http://epistle.us/inspiration/godwillsaveme.html God Will Save Me A terrible storm came into a town and local officials sent out an emergency warning that the riverbanks would soon overflow and flood the nearby homes. They ordered everyone in the town to evacuate immediately. A faithful Christian man heard the warning and decided to stay, saying to himself, “I will trust God and if I am in danger, then God will send a divine miracle to save me.” The neighbors came by his house and said to him, “We’re leaving and there is room for you in our car, please come with us!” But the man declined. “I have faith that God will save me.” As the man stood on his porch watching the Water rise up the steps, a man in a canoe paddled by and called to him, “Hurry and come into my canoe, the waters are rising quickly!” But the man again said, “No thanks, God will save me.” The floodwaters rose higher pouring water into his living room and the man had to retreat to the second floor. A police motorboat came by and saw him at the window. “We will come up and rescue you!” they shouted. But the man refused, waving them off saying, “Use your time to save someone else! I have faith that God will save me!” The flood waters rose higher and higher and the man had to climb up to his rooftop. A helicopter spotted him and dropped a rope ladder. A rescue officer came down the ladder and pleaded with the man, "Grab my hand and I will pull you up!" But the man STILL refused, folding his arms tightly to his body. “No thank you! God will save me!” Shortly after, the house broke up and the floodwaters swept the man away and he drowned. When in Heaven, the man stood before God and asked, “I put all of my faith in You. Why didn’t You come and save me?” And God said, “Son, I sent you a warning. I sent you a car. I sent you a canoe. I sent you a motorboat. I sent you a helicopter. What more were you looking for?”

Not to mention, you won't be able to eat 3 oz chicken at that stage.

Want Opinions Plz - Full Fat Vs Low Fat
BlackBerryJuice replied to Joni's topic in Food and Nutrition
I almost always use full-fat products. The only thing I can think of that I prefer to buy lowfat is Caesar salad dressing. First off, fat fills you up better; second, a lot of times the manufacturers replace the fat with sugar and/or weird chemicals. I always read the labels and it's almost always the case, so I usually go for full-fat options. That Caesar dressing is the only exception, because the lowfat version simply has more water than the full-fat, and no sugar or other weird stuff to make up for it. Plus I find the original one a little TOO creamy for my taste! -
I Was All Ready To Go...now Scared And Confused.
BlackBerryJuice replied to DanityChai's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good luck to you with Dr. Aceves! There are certainly some crappy surgeons in Mexico. I am currently rotating through surgery and most of our patients are bariatric. Many of them have very severe complications from having bypass or sleeves in Mexico - we even have one person who is literally missing her entire abdominal wall as the result of her massive complications and will never be able to eat anything ever again - but I've been asking all of them who their surgeons were in Mexico and not a single mention of Dr. Aceves has come up yet. -
How To Get Back On Track?
BlackBerryJuice replied to jillw8's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'd toss the candy, plan some healthy meals for the week - I like to browse the FoodNetwork website for ideas - and make a grocery list. That way, I've got healthy meals planned and available. -

antidepressants and the sleeve?
BlackBerryJuice replied to sarahh1828's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm also on Wellbutrin. I haven't really noticed any change in weight or appetite since starting it about a year ago. I was already at my current weight when I started taking it. -
Woah, that sounds pretty awesome!

LOL! BKMama is right.....although the healthy amount of calories for a person of normal weight is actually more like 2000-2500, even more so if you are quite active. 1000-1200 is still a caloric deficit.

I eat a lot, lol. That was around 2100-2200 calories. -

Seasoned Sleevers
BlackBerryJuice replied to ProudGrammy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks for the suggestion! I'm legitimately obsessed with a particular coffee shop's latte, though, so I doubt this will help. I don't feel "bad" about drinking lattes, necessarily, after all, it's just like drinking milk with the extra bonus of perking up. I just mentioned it because it does add calories overall - just like a Protein shake would. But to give you an idea of how obsessed I am....today I had a 45-min lunch break and I spent all of it on a bus trip 20 minutes away to this particular coffee shop to get that latte and then bus it back....lmao, as mentioned above, "they can't fix your head." -
I'm Already Sexy.. Should I Get The Surgery?
BlackBerryJuice replied to SkinnyOnMe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If anything, I think it's great that you have such a positive self-image! I think it will save you from all kinds of unrealistic expectations and the disappointment that comes with them (and unnecessary plastic surgery!). Also, you will not lose your overall shape.....if you are an hourglass or pear now, you will still tend towards that bodyshape after losing weight, so you won't look like a teenage boy. -
I make pancakes on occasion. I use a mix of whole wheat flour and oats, and usually add frozen blueberries, as well. Rather than syrup, I like to top them with Greek yogurt. I consider it a pretty decent menu option.
