  1. My doctor is Wagner. I haven't even been to see him for my post surgery exam yet, much less a fill. He is out of town for 2 weeks so I won't see him until the second week of August. He said he would put the first fill in in 5 weeks. If you have hit a plateau, maybe mix up your excercise routine, or even your eating habits a bit. This seems to jump start the metabolism during regular dieting. Either way, I am sure it is normal and just a natural part of the body losing weight. Sounds like you are doing great other than that, so I wouldn't worry too much about this. My problem is I had the surgery 4 days ago and can't stay off the scale. Talk about torture!! I need to hide that thing for weeks at a time!!!
  2. I was banded in St. Louis July 26th. I'd be happy to let you lean on me and vice versa. I did just get banded this week though, so I am not sure we are at the same place. When did you get banded? Are you just not losing weight at this point, is that what is going on with the plateau? When did you get banded and how much have you lost so far? Hang in there, I am sure it is just a minor speed bump on the highway of life.
  3. Anyone else feeling kind of blue since their surgery? I think I put so much time and effort into researching it and now that it's over, I feel like I don't have anything else to do. I think it may be similar to planning a wedding for some girls (not that that interests me), or maybe a vacation. You know, something that takes up all of your time and when it's over you almost feel some sort of a loss. Maybe it's just me. Is it??
  4. My doctor never prescribed protein, not in preop diet or post op. He feels I should be able to get enough in with regular diet when I am healed. I think a big part of his problem is the high calories in the protein supplements. For all you taking the supplements, is it because you are having a hard time getting in 60 mg of protein by eating meals and snacks every day? Thanks for any input.
  5. I'm doing pretty well, how about you? I have been sleeping a lot today. I also haven't really been eating. Just drinking water mainly. I haven't really been hungry, but I also just don't feel like the broth and stuff and they say we are allowed to have. I don't know if that is a good thing or not. I basically just want the stomach healed so I can move on to some better options. How have you been doing with this?

  6. My doctor didn't have me do any protein prior to surgery and doesn't recommend any after. He says after a few weeks I should be incorporating them into my diet and therefore shouldn't need an supplements. Sounds good, but also a little scary on how my diet has to play out every day. Does anyone else have a doctor like this?
  7. Does anyone have any suggestions for good mushies next week? I saw your fruit one Dawn, and that sounded pretty good. I am concerned about not finding anything I like. Gotta be honest, mushy scares me a bit.
  8. I had lost about 15 preop, and I am trying not to concentrate on the "losing" weight at this point. Since I am not really eating or drinking much, I don't see how I won't lose some this week. I think the surgery will throw all numbers out of wack though, so I am waiting til at least next week to officially change any of #s. Here is the website of the ticker. Weight Loss - Diet Ticker Just follow along with how you want it designed, then when you are finished, copy the URL and paste it into your signature, it should show up everytime you post then, and change everytime you change your numbers on the ticker web page. Good luck. It took me a few times to master it, or be able to use it anyway. I still haven't been able to master it!
  9. Hey pdmac and trose, I was banded July 26th with Dr. Wagner also. So far I am doing great. I am ready for my next leg of the journey. I notice you two don't use the weight loss ticker, have you been able to lose any weight yet?? I look forward to knowing a few people who have the same resources I have, to see if they work for us all. Good luck to us all....I wish much success on everyone!!
  10. Hi everyone. I am scheduled for surgery July 26th. I found out July 19th of my insurance approval, and all of the sudden a little panic has swept over me. I am very excited, but am having some feelings of guilt for doing this for some reason. Has anyone else experienced that? I have only told one person, because I don't want to have to do any explaining or justification before it is done. Has anyone handled it this way or are you all pretty open with everyone? I am looking forward to having this support group for the journey we are all about to experience...
  11. Wow, surgery couldn't have gone any smoother for me!! Just one incision for the whole thing. I feel great. Just the normal stiffness. I can't wait to feel 100% on the inside so I can get past this part of journey and move on to regular foods with just smaller portions. I am ready for a normal life!!
  12. Thanks everyone for the support. My surgery couldn't have went any better!! Guilt feelings are gone. Now I just want to heal and work out and get back to some real foods...just smaller amounts than before. I am so looking forward to starting a new life. Right now drinking/eating only liquids still makes it feel like I haven't made it to the other side yet. But at least I can see around corner!! Feeling good ladies...feeling good!

    Pressure from Others

This is exactly the reason I have only told one person. I don't want to have to answer any questions or feel guilty if I'm not living up to their expectations, or should I say the expectations that I presume they will have. I figure if they notice, and actually a few people have noticed a little because I am down about 30 from my heaviest, I just say, I don't know, maybe a few pounds. I'm not really sure though. Even as people start to find out, and I am sure they will, because I have learned long ago even telling one person is one too many...I won't give numbers. Those are for me...and of course all of you for the encouragement you provide me, and hopefully in return my numbers will inspire someone else! Someday that is...oh, come on someday.... :smile2:
  17. Marykb...he sounds fabulous!!! I am sure you are both very lucky!! Congratulations on your success so far.
  18. Wow, I have purchased nothing for after surgery. I will be on an all liquid diet (not even protein shakes before surgery or the 1st week after), so I figured anything I will need I will go shopping for as I felt better. You are doing fabulous in your preparation. By looking how organized you are, looks like I am failing miserably out of the gate!!

    My renaissance.....

Jaychelle, I have a question. When you say you don't have any restriction, what do you mean by that exactly? You just had surgery 3 1/2 weeks ago, so aren't you still on mushy foods? And if so, isn't it hard to over eat? I wouldn't think so soon after surgery you would even know if you get full because you can't eat much. Anyone please let me know if I am wrong about the way I thought my first 3 weeks would be. Thanks for the info!
  20. Glad you are home MissNursette. I hope the pain goes away soon for you. 49 hours and counting for my procedure. Luckily I am going out all day tomorrow so it should make it easier for the time to go by. Getting a little nervous though, I gotta be honest. That's all everyone thinks about at this point huh, having a successful uncomplicated surgery. The rest will fall into place after that. I look forward to hearing about yours and everyone's success!
  21. I know exactly what you are saying also lovelylady. I have all those emotions. But at 41, I am like MollyRN...I would give ANYTHING to have done this when I was your age. You are adding so many years of "quality" life onto your actual life, and you don't even know it yet. Trust us when us "older" banders say...be thankful you have the opportunity and the bravery to take control of your life now. You're gonna do great...as I hope we all are!!!
  22. Thank you 2be, sounds like you had the same thoughts and feelings going in as I do. Only now you are onto the next step. I hope you are feeling well and look forward to talking to everyone more after my surgery on Monday.
  23. Glad thinks went so well for you craigmorgan....good luck getting your protein in. My doctor doesn't want protein taken in the first week...just clear broths. Does anyone else have a doctor like that?
  24. Question, will they move this post over to Post Surgery after a few weeks since it is titled Banded July 22nd?
  25. Hey Biggirl, I am glad everything worked out for you. I am getting my surgery done Monday in St. Louis. Did you get yours done there by chance? Good luck in your journey.
