  1. Happy 35th Birthday Miss_A!

  2. Three former co-workers have had lapband surgery. Two have had great success with it. The other co-worker had complications. She didn't lose much weight, either. Her band slipped and she didn't even know it. That was enough for her. She went to another doctor and her insurance paid for bypass. She's exceeded her weight loss goal and is happier than ever. Happy that both you and your husband are having better success with bypass.

Why is the band so unpredictable?

I know all too well about the unpredictability. And, quite frankly, I'm tired of it.
  4. Miss_A

    Having It Out!! Hooray!!!!!!!!

Agreed. Because, God forbid, the band NOT be the right choice for someone.
  5. Miss_A

    Stuck?

The added stress on your stomach could have caused your band to tighten. I know for a lot of people, when they're just plain ol' stressed out, their band will be tighter. So when the stomach becomes irritated from having to force up food or the dreaded slime, that's bound to cause the band to affect the band as well. I hope that makes sense.
  6. Have you tried taking any gas x or something like that?
  7. You're exactly right. If he were to move back in the problems would still be there. Sometimes people grow apart. It happens. And I'm sure it's a difficult adjustment, but if you're happier, then you've made the right decision. Good luck to you on your weight loss maintanence journey.

    Having It Out!! Hooray!!!!!!!!

It's been 3 months since my last post, but better late than never I suppose. What's going on with me is that I'm either sliming, puking or belching. Not only that but my port has given me problems since I came home from the hospital. Which I told my doctor about at each appt. He told me at one visit that I was his first patient to ever have the problems I was discribing and if they continued, he'd have not choice but to go in a move my port. It has caused me a lot of pain. The most recent episode, I was getting out of a tanning bed a couple months ago and was in so much pain for days afterward. My port has moved from where it was initially placed. I am scared to see what it's doing to my abdominal wall. As far as food goes, theres just no rhyme or reason to what I can or can't eat. One day I can eat a certain food and then the very next day I can't. When I eat, the food immediately falls into the place where the band is tightened around my stomach and I'm then stuck for a 1, 2, 3, 10 minutes or more. Just depends. Once the food passes through, I can resume eating. Needless to say, my food choices haven't been good because of this. And I'm the exact same weight I was the day of my surgery 21 months ago. I currently do not have health insurance, so the only way to see my doctor is to pay out of pocket. There is a financial program available, where I would pay based on my income. I can't even afford to pay that. I'm beyond discouraged. And for my doctor to tell me that I have to see a psychologist first before he'd remove the band.... A lot of people just rave on about what a great doctor he is. And while I believe he is a good doctor, I truly believe he's just not the right doctor for me.

    Having It Out!! Hooray!!!!!!!!

I went to my doc over a week ago and told him that I wanted the band removed. He told me he wouldn't remove it w/o me seeing a phychiatrist first. He doesn't feel that I would benefit having it removed. Well, I'm miserable. And since I went to see him, my insurance was cut, so I can't even go back. I should've had him remove all the fluid. He didn't even suggest it. I'm beyond frustrated. Wish I'd never gotten the band in the first place.
  10. The local doctors sounds like the way to go. Have you contacted his office yet? If not, I'd be gettin' on the horn if I were you! Good luck!

    Really Battling Mentally Today

The fat girl inside me is SCREAMING to be fed junk food. I've all sorts of thoughts running through my head. I've thought that today was going to be a day to indulge in some sweet and chocolaty goodies. I was first going to go to a local bakery and get a couple things. Then I shifted to baking a recipe I found on Pintrest. I even pulled up that recipe and gawked at the pictures. Oh, that website is the devil!!! This mental stuff is the worst. In my 34 years of living, it's the hardest thing I've ever dealt with. And I've dealt with some pretty hard ish. As have we all, right? I'm sure I'll make it through the day w/o caving. I just ate a banana with peanut butter. More than 2 tbsp, but eating it is a 1000% better than what I REALLY wanted to eat, so I'm not going to stress myself. I really do look forward to the day when food doesn't consume most of the space in my mind.

    Pb2

If you order it from Netrition.com, it's much cheaper. One 6oz bottle is $4 as opposed to Amazon's price of $7. And Netrition has a flat shipping rate of $4.95 no matter how much you order. That's where I ordered my PB2. I ordered regular and chocolate and I've almost used up the chocolate one. I like to add some to my oatmeal in the mornings. And it is good in Protein shakes. I learned of it from Myfitnesspal and over there members use PB2 all different kinds of ways.

    Saggy/ Deflated Breast?

As everyone else has said, yes, your breasts will do the deflate and sag routine. Sucks. My have always sagged, so I've got that part down pat. I know the deflate part is coming up next. Not looking forward to it, but it is what it is. I have major bat wings and always have, so I'm more concerned with having those wings removed as opposed to a boob job. I'll continue to use my inserts.
  14. Yay for all of us re-committers!!! I know that's not a real word, but I'm using it anyway. I, too, am a re-committer. I was banded in Jan of 2011. I didn't even lose 20lbs. And then gained more weight. It's been a smidge over a month since I re-committed and I've lost ruffly 10lbs. And I'm learning to work with my band. I now realize that when my pouch isn't stretched out, I can only eat around a cup to s cup and a half of food. And I'm learning a lot from this site. It's been pretty exciting. Next week I'm making an apt. to see my doc. I'd been too embarrassed to go see him, but I've lost some weight so now I don't feel as bad. Plus, I have issues with my port, so it's probably going to have to be moved. Sucks, but I'm tired of being in pain. So, anyway, I said all that to say.....way to go ladies!!!! We can do this!!!!!
  15. So I know I've overkilled on the posts, but I'm currently eating your nutella recipe on half of a whole wheat english muffin. It's pretty good! Of course, the real nutella is scrumdiddlyumptious, but this is a great substitute. Thanks! I'll be using your recipe a lot.
