Hi Tyanna, How are you doing today. I am just glad its finally friday. What blood work did you have to get done? I have not had any blood work yet. Hope I haven't missed something! I have some pre-op and admission stuff to do at the hospital on the 15th maybe thats when they will do it. I have no idea. I agree, having the band done is so much more safer then what my uncle went through. The hardest part was telling my mom I had decided to have the lap band surgery. To my surprise she was for it and very supportive. She realizes the 2 surgies are totally different and thinks I have made the right decission. Hi Tyanna, Welcome to the site. I think I am up in the same area as you. I live outside of Cardington, South of Mt. Gilead. My insurance company just approved me for the band and I have a surgery date of May 25th. I am very excited. I know of the dr you are seeing, my uncle had some complications from the bypass and was moved up to OSU and dr. needleman was his dr while he was there. He was very nice and always kept us informed of how my uncle was doing. Unfortunatly my uncle did pass away due to serious infections he got from not getting the proper care in the first facility he was in before they moved him to OSU. I have choosen Dr. Curry in cincy, he and his staff are very nice as well. Good luck to you.

Hi Ohio, It has also been a while since I last posted as well. I got a call yesterday from Dr. Curry's office that Atena approved me for surgery. Yippee!!!! My surgery is scheduled for May 25th at 10:30AM. I go down and do some pre admission stuff on the 15th and start my 2 week dr required liquid diet on the 11th. It will be here before I know it. How soon after you all had surgery were you able to drive more then 30 minutes one way?

Hello All. I got my good news yesterday (4/24) that Aetna approved me for getting the band and my surgery is scheduled for May 25th. I am so excited. I go on the 15th to do all my pre admission stuff, does anyone know what this consists of? I will be on a liquid diet for 2 weeks starting on the 11th, my husband keeps telling me I might have to go stay someplace else during this time cause he knows its not going to be fun to be around me. He must think I am going to be mean or something.:heh: Well Good Luck to All.

Vannav12, I also posted the same question on the main page under drs and hospitals, you may want to look there for the comments I have gotten back. Dr. Curry seems to be highly recommend, I have an appointment with him on the 16th. Good Luck

Thanks to all who have replied, I will take each ones comments to heart when I make my decission on who and where to have this procedure done. I have attended a seminar with Ciny weight loss and there was someone else who spoke of the facility, Dr. Osborne was not present. I do have an appointment with Dr. Curry on the 16th, I am excited to meet him. I have heard great things about this guy. Seems to be great with people. Thanks again for all the replies. Take Care.

Hello all, I am in the beginning stages of the banding process. I have attended 2 seminars and have an appointment with Dr. Curry(Cincy) on the 16th as a consult visit. I am very excited and I have the support of my family on having this procedure done. I live about 45 minutes northwest of Columbus with my husband, step daughter who is 10 and my son who just turned 2 in November. I have decided that by having this surgery will not only help me it will help my step daughter, who is already way over weight and help my son with healthier eating habits. The insurance I have is Aetna HMO through the company I work for and WLS is a covered benifit as long as you meet there criteria. Gotta Run, Danielle

Good Morning, I am considering having the lap band surgery done and was looking on the internet to find a place I could go and see what other people are saying about the procedure and any complications anyone has had. I came across this site and from what I have seen so far, I think it is very informative. I really do enjoy seeing what you all have to say, the good and the bad. I have attended one seminar already and have an appointment with the nurses and surgeon later in December. I have already checked with my insurance company and the procedure is covered but the Dr. and facility I am going to are not covered so I will have to pay first then get reimbursed later.
